I haven't been to Lola's since they changed owners. But it's still AMAZING. We had a 430 reservation and since it was a nice evening asked if we could be seated outside. We ordered the hummus which was freshly made in house and came with green olives, crunchy bread, carrots and cucumbers. My husband got the Salmon which he said was amazing. This review is my first following the change of ownership at Lola's. Previously there was a lot going right here so I was interested to see what carried over.... I'm happy to tell you that my food experience was just as good if not better and other areas of service have improved! Here's the deal: The ambiance of the restaurant is the same with indoor dining in various rooms as well as patio and covered patio seating. What has changed more recently is the Addition of a complementary valet service. Parking was becoming problematic for both owners and customers due to volume of patrons and the limited parking space. The addition of the valet has helped a problem area immensely and I thought the valet service was very good. Service has step up with a bit more "bistro" feel - meaning it is a more formal service without losing the engaged and personal touch. The food: Much on the menu is the same or similar with a few new items added in. The mainstays are all still there and the restaurant's famous chicken Marsala is still there and better than ever! My wife ordered a chocolate mousse dessert and was the best either of us has tasted anywhere. A chocolate mousse to me sounds unexciting but I have to tell you this is something different than what you might expect and definitely worth ordering. Highly recommended. This is a really cute spot in an old farmhouse/manor home outside Richmond. I met my mother here for Saturday brunch according to their website/online but when we arrived we found they only have brunch on Sundays and they provided a lunch menu which had quiche as the only brunch-y option so that's what I ordered. We sat outside on the lawn/tent area which was nice but it was windy so the tent kept being blown/flapping but was sturdy so it was fine. The outdoor metal tables were cut to a height where you kept bumping it with your knee and almost knocking all the drinks over... didn't love. The inside is really charming where all the available rooms have been converted into dining areas and each has a different wallpaper/theme. The bar is especially adorable and the restrooms are themed (small since there is only one room/toilet for men/women at a single time. Service was friendly but a bit slow - they were really, really busy at around noon-1pm on a sunny, spring Saturday. My cappuccino was cold as ice when it arrived and had to be remade which took a long time, like 15 minutes, but they did take it off the bill. Still wasn't that good. My quiche was actually delicious and the portion was huge - probably the biggest I've ever been served - with a fresh green side salad with yummy balsamic. My mom ordered the Chicken Piccata and she liked it as well. They have a small, cute gift shop you can browse while waiting for your table - some very cute giftable items inside. Parking is a gravel lot with unmarked spaces and when it gets crowded it's a bit difficult to find/navigate through as people park unevenly and take up 2.5 spaces by parking off.... this could be maybe alleviated with a bit better marking to force them to park side by side. I'd come back again - but, disappointed with the misrepresentation on brunch on weekends. Wanted more breakfast items. Went there for a simple lunch and was amazed, with the service, food and ambience!!! Visiting from Florida and my daughter recommended this place. We just wanted tomato soup and grilled cheese, was not expecting what we got served. Not only that got to meet the owners who we recognized from the Grapevine. We arrived about an hour early for a 6PM. We were ready to hang out (every seating area is very welcoming). However, the staff was insistent on seating us at our porch table. The occasion was old friends both recovering from health issues and they allowed to take our time and did not rush us, even when we asked if we were holding others up. Lola's is charming. The interior comprises several small dining rooms with tables arranged around the perimeters. While I loved the intimacy, part of me really wished to be seated outdoors in a yurt. Drove waaaaaaay out here to the cutest little farmhouse converted into a sweet bistro! I love the antique feel, the garden lights on the patio, and the wooden staircase inside of the small home. First time back at Lola's with new ownership. There is some good and some not so good and one really really bad. I'll start with that. The pluming for the bathrooms was out. Both. And they had two port a potties. The regular horrific port a potty. Nasty. Some poor older gentleman with a walker had to go through the crowded patio and maneuver the lawn to get to it. It was a scary sight. Plus --- ummm hand washing?? It should have been communicated to every reservation that the bathrooms were out of service. Plus, if both bathrooms are having plumbing problems, what about the rest? I don't want to know. Plus pretty sure it's a health code violation. It's been going on for weeks. There were plastic cups for water. At first I thought it was a "patio" thing but other drinks were served in glass. Ick. Was it related to the plumbing? Or a regular thing?? They say "fine dining" but are plastic cups "fine dining". No. Most of the menu is the same. There were specials but not our cup of tea. One of the appetizer specials was mozzarella sticks. Are we toddlers?? We started with the antipasto board and stuffed mushrooms. Both ok. The mushrooms were tiny and the stuffing a bit dry, but with the sauce okay. The antipasto is all jarred ingredients. I had the petite filet, ordered medium rare but came very medium. It's served with carrots and a risotto. The risotto was very bland.l, like no salt no seasoning at all. The carrots are boiled HS cafeteria style. My husband had the NY strip. It tasted good but looked awful. It was grey. Like a steak from ponderosa. He ordered a salad too and it came after his main was served (he was fine with that). The service was great and the patio beautiful except the horrific view of the porta potties and the long lines to use. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Lola's is a cool, historic, beautiful venue to enjoy a meal! I had been a fan for a long time. But recently, I felt impelled to dock a star. Why? The food isn't the same. As you can see from my earlier photos and the latter photos, the quiche has gone downhill. It used to be divine, but the quiche Lorraine I had on my last visit was soupy, barely had any ham - the slivers I did find were just thin deli meat, wayyy too much cheese because you couldn't even taste the eggs, and it wasn't held together and lacked that firm consistency. Also, aside from the orchid, the presentation wasn't as appealing, again before and after picks. I shared a fudge sundae with my friend... again, check out the before and after pics, the cotton candy aka angel floss disintegrated before our eyes! However, despite the food that wasn't up to par, the service was great! Jo, who was fairly new, was efficient and accommodating and friendly! The surroundings and the outdoors are gorgeous! In Richmond, VA this is a must-do. If you've ever been to the Cloister on Sea Island, Ga having dinner on the patio looking into the marshes of the bay side under those magnificent twisted southern live oaks, that is the feel at Lola's Farmhouse. Those huge pin oaks covering the parking lot and patio set the tone as you pull in to park and you see the lights strung across the patio and you hear the laughter, you unwind before your first drink. Gentlemen can wear a jacket here and not be out of place but by no means suggested or required. The staff is fabulous. The food is great. Poached pear and roasted pecan salad. Truly farm to table. Inside the old farmhouse they converted what must of been the living room into a quaint bar with a bartender that is innovative. But what probably impressed me most was that the owner toward the end of the evening came by not to just ask how things are, but had a five minute conversation. Great food. Great environment. Food is out of this world, but just as much is it has become a place for people in the area to go to who can eat close by with a great atmosphere either inside or out. Wonderful menu options, great staff and people, that make you feel wanted and appreciative that you have come there to eat. My sister and her husband love going there so much they drive 2 hours to eat there. Mostly lunches, but if they are staying the night with me we drive less than 2 miles for a great eating experience. Lola's is one of our favorite restaurants. We drive from Midlothian often. I had the salmon, and the entire meal was delicious. Others had the chicken Marsala and said it was great. I will say I think our appetizer cheese board was a bit overpriced for what we got, but our entries hit the spot! Service was wonderful. When we arrived it was beautiful weather and people without reservations were being seated outside. I asked if we could sit outside and was told they didn't have any tables available (there were some empty). I have no idea what happens if you reserve outside and it is raining. We were seated in what I will call the dog dining room, simply because it had a lot of pictures with dogs. It was nice and we were the only people in there so it was enjoyable. Service: Our server was very good. She didn't give us her name but she was very friendly and quick with recommendations when asked, which I always appreciate. Several servers checked on us throughout and all were friendly and attentive. Food: I specifically reserved on Sunday to have brunch and glad I did. They have cocktails, coffee and lattes/ cappuccino available. I had a strawberry bellini and really enjoyed it. I could've had more but would've been a little tipsy and that wasn't the point of this brunch I also had a vanilla latte which was very yummy. Two of my companions ordered the Lola's Benedict and they enjoyed it. Another ordered biscuits and gravy and said it was very good. I ordered steak and eggs. My steak was cooked to order (medium); however, the eggs were ordered over medium and came out over hard no runny yolks for me, which would've been good with the potatoes. I couldn't leave without dessert so tried the dark chocolate mousse. It was extremely heavy/thick, which isn't expected in mousse. In the middle was a white mousse? It had a good flavor though! I will definitely be back here at some point. I've found my new favorite restaurant. Food and drink menu made it very hard to narrow down what we wanted. So many choices that sounded delicious. Finding this gem was just what we needed. We are from Northern VA and depended upon Yelp. We pulled into the driveway and we felt like we won the lottery. My daughter told me it was a cross between Gilmore Girls and Hamrocks (where she used to waitress in City of Fairfax). Decorated for Christmas ADORABLY, we loved everything.
