Tartufo

I haven't been to Lola's since they changed owners. But it's still AMAZING. We had a 430 reservation and since it was a nice evening asked if we could be seated outside. We ordered the hummus which was freshly made in house and came with green olives, crunchy bread, carrots and cucumbers. My husband got the Salmon which he said was amazing. I got the lobster ravioli which was incredible. Then We shared a tartufo for dessert. They had really nice instrumental music playing in the background. We cannot wait to come back.

This review is my first following the change of ownership at Lola's. Previously there was a lot going right here so I was interested to see what carried over.... I'm happy to tell you that my food experience was just as good if not better and other areas of service have improved! Here's the deal: The ambiance of the restaurant is the same with indoor dining in various rooms as well as patio and covered patio seating. What has changed more recently is the Addition of a complementary valet service. Parking was becoming problematic for both owners and customers due to volume of patrons and the limited parking space. The addition of the valet has helped a problem area immensely and I thought the valet service was very good. Service has step up with a bit more "bistro" feel - meaning it is a more formal service without losing the engaged and personal touch. The food: Much on the menu is the same or similar with a few new items added in. The mainstays are all still there and the restaurant's famous chicken Marsala is still there and better than ever! My wife ordered a chocolate mousse dessert and was the best either of us has tasted anywhere. A chocolate mousse to me sounds unexciting but I have to tell you this is something different than what you might expect and definitely worth ordering. Highly recommended. Be sure to reserve a table and note indoor or outdoor seating. Able to accommodate large parties. Cheers!

Went there for a simple lunch and was amazed, with the service, food and ambience!!! Visiting from Florida and my daughter recommended this place. We just wanted tomato soup and grilled cheese, was not expecting what we got served. Not only that got to meet the owners who we recognized from the Grapevine. Simply put they have done an amazing job and we have already boasted about this place to all of our friends. Trust me, you will not be disappointed if you give this place a try!!!

Bar area. So adorable

This is a really cute spot in an old farmhouse/manor home outside Richmond. I met my mother here for Saturday brunch according to their website/online but when we arrived we found they only have brunch on Sundays and they provided a lunch menu which had quiche as the only brunch-y option so that's what I ordered. We sat outside on the lawn/tent area which was nice but it was windy so the tent kept being blown/flapping but was sturdy so it was fine. The outdoor metal tables were cut to a height where you kept bumping it with your knee and almost knocking all the drinks over... didn't love. The inside is really charming where all the available rooms have been converted into dining areas and each has a different wallpaper/theme. The bar is especially adorable and the restrooms are themed (small since there is only one room/toilet for men/women at a single time. Service was friendly but a bit slow - they were really, really busy at around noon-1pm on a sunny, spring Saturday. My cappuccino was cold as ice when it arrived and had to be remade which took a long time, like 15 minutes, but they did take it off the bill. Still wasn't that good. My quiche was actually delicious and the portion was huge - probably the biggest I've ever been served - with a fresh green side salad with yummy balsamic. My mom ordered the Chicken Piccata and she liked it as well. They have a small, cute gift shop you can browse while waiting for your table - some very cute giftable items inside. Parking is a gravel lot with unmarked spaces and when it gets crowded it's a bit difficult to find/navigate through as people park unevenly and take up 2.5 spaces by parking off.... this could be maybe alleviated with a bit better marking to force them to park side by side. I'd come back again - but, disappointed with the misrepresentation on brunch on weekends. Wanted more breakfast items. They do take online reservations and there were several brunch parties going on inside.

What a delightful place and perfect weather to enjoy our dinner on the front porch!! The warm welcoming staff, especially Mike was a nice start to our visit. It was too early for dinner, so splitting an appetizer and each of us having a salad worked great. The Bacon Wrapped Scallops were amazing, very tender and flavorful. Our salads, Citrus, full of strawberries, mandarin oranges and walnuts on mixed greens. Pecan encrusted goat cheese, along with tomatoes, boiled eggs, and bacon, yummy. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual meal, Lola's Farmhouse Bistro is a must checkout!!

Absolutely recommend this place without reservation! However, I highly recommend making reservations. That's how popular this place is and for good reasons! It has Southern charm and hospitality to boot! The place is situated in a large 2-story home on a sprawling area that lends itself to summer and seasonal gatherings. The weather was perfect, so we opted to have lunch in the outdoor dining area. It's been so long since I have eaten there that I don't remember what exactly I had ordered, only that it must have been great because there was absolutely no leftovers whatsoever! So if you're in the area, don't forget to stop by and savor the Southern hospitality and fare this place has to offer! It will not disappoint!!!

Lola's is charming. The interior comprises several small dining rooms with tables arranged around the perimeters. While I loved the intimacy, part of me really wished to be seated outdoors in a yurt. Service was efficient and pleasant. Our food came out promptly and at correct temperatures. We were a party of four seated in an intimate corner where conversation was easy despite every table being seated. We enjoyed the SPINACH AND FETA CHEESE OMELETTE, LOLA'S COUNTRY STYLE EGGS BENEDICT -Poached eggs, sausage patty on a biscuit and topped with sausage gravy served with fruit, CLASSIC EGGS BENEDICT WITH VIRGINIA HAM, and SAUSAGE GRAVY AND HOMEMADE BISCUITS.

Drove waaaaaaay out here to the cutest little farmhouse converted into a sweet bistro! I love the antique feel, the garden lights on the patio, and the wooden staircase inside of the small home. Good amount of parking in their own lot. Celebrated a family dinner here and the waitstaff were so kind, and stored our cake in their fridge until the end of our meal. The food was Classic American Fare, and was solid for a group with different tastes. It was a good time had by all.

Really good food. It was really packed this night so service was initially slow but that's to be expected on a weekend right after Thanksgiving. Good food!

New cheese board. Yummy. Both cheeses are local.

First time back at Lola's with new ownership. There is some good and some not so good and one really really bad. I'll start with that. The pluming for the bathrooms was out. Both. And they had two port a potties. The regular horrific port a potty. Nasty. Some poor older gentleman with a walker had to go through the crowded patio and maneuver the lawn to get to it. It was a scary sight. Plus --- ummm hand washing?? It should have been communicated to every reservation that the bathrooms were out of service. Plus, if both bathrooms are having plumbing problems, what about the rest? I don't want to know. Plus pretty sure it's a health code violation. It's been going on for weeks. There were plastic cups for water. At first I thought it was a "patio" thing but other drinks were served in glass. Ick. Was it related to the plumbing? Or a regular thing?? They say "fine dining" but are plastic cups "fine dining". No. Most of the menu is the same. There were specials but not our cup of tea. One of the appetizer specials was mozzarella sticks. Are we toddlers?? We started with the antipasto board and stuffed mushrooms. Both ok. The mushrooms were tiny and the stuffing a bit dry, but with the sauce okay. The antipasto is all jarred ingredients. I had the petite filet, ordered medium rare but came very medium. It's served with carrots and a risotto. The risotto was very bland.l, like no salt no seasoning at all. The carrots are boiled HS cafeteria style. My husband had the NY strip. It tasted good but looked awful. It was grey. Like a steak from ponderosa. He ordered a salad too and it came after his main was served (he was fine with that). The service was great and the patio beautiful except the horrific view of the porta potties and the long lines to use. Absolutely disgusting.

Last 2 yrs for Christmas week we took the family (15) there and had a wonderful time. They had us in a separate room. Service was great as well as the food. Food was served to all in a good timeframe. Desserts were also very special.

Beautiful venue...

When we first walked in, the place was pretty crowded, but we were able to grab a couple spots at the bar and figured we'd settle in for a good night. That's where things went sideways. The bartender appeared to be the only one working, and while I understand being busy, the attitude and behavior were honestly shocking. Every interaction felt aggressive. Remotes getting slammed around. Napkins and pens tossed onto the counter. Water being splashed onto the floor like a toddler throwing a tantrum. The entire atmosphere at the bar felt tense and uncomfortable. It got to the point where we almost felt awkward ordering anything because every request seemed like it was ruining their night. At one point another couple sat down next to us and almost immediately started looking around like, "is this really happening right now?" I actually ended up warning them that no, they weren't imagining it, and that it had been our experience the entire time too. That alone should tell you how uncomfortable the atmosphere was. Which is unfortunate because the kitchen actually did their part. The food was good. Really good. But good food only carries a place so far when the service makes you want to leave before the meal even arrives. I've worked in and around hospitality long enough to understand busy nights happen. But there's a huge difference between being overwhelmed and taking it out on customers. Tazza Kitchen has the food figured out. Now they just need the front of house experience to match it.

Unfortunately, there was still not great service again. The server was professional and polite... but he wasn't present. Someone else brought our food out. He checked on us for the first time when we were almost done eating. I had to ask the hostess for the check. The food was just okay. If it had been amazing, that might have been worth waiting for, but it was forgettable. The menu is blah and standard. Nothing exciting. The flavors, meh. I got the arugula and proscuitto pizza last time. Someone at our table got that this time. It looked really dry. I ordered salmon because I thought you can't mess it up. It was just okay. The ambiance, it's like a typical mainstream place. Pretty cookie cutter. The parking lot is really tight. There really is nothing to recommend this place.

Even with the crowd, the experience never felt rushed or chaotic. That says a lot about how well they run things. We started with the calamari, crab miso soup, octopus, crispy tuna roll, and tuna tacos. Everything was excellent. The octopus was especially well done, tender with great flavor, and the tuna dishes were fresh and perfectly balanced. The crab miso soup was a standout and not something you see everywhere, which made it even better. Service is always strong here, but this night really stood out. Attentive, polished, and genuinely welcoming without being over the top. The restaurant itself is just a lovely space. It feels like a place you can settle into, whether it is a special night out or just a casual dinner close to home. We are lucky to have this as a neighborhood spot. It is consistent, high quality, and one of the best places in the Richmond area to rely on when you want a great meal without overthinking it.
