I have tried the location in Carytown and it's pretty good. This location is good too! We went because they take reservations on open table. I wanted to pick a place for my friend's birthday. I ordered the falafel flatbread with fries. It was a massive portion. The fries were amazing too. The only thing I didn't care for was the ranch. The ranch shouldn't be watery....like....how? And why? I took off a star just because of the mistreatment of the ranch. I couldn't eat it. We started with the tuna tower and I think that's the best thing on the menu. My sister ordered the fish tacos without the cilantro crema and it came with that. They had to send it back. I ordered the spicy avocado bowl with chicken. Mine was amazingly bland. The chicken was animatic and rubbery. It was not a flavorful dish. When my sisters fish tacos arrived the second time the fish was tough and also rubbery. I want to like it here but this is the second time I have been and the food lack depth of flavor. The service was SLOW. VERY SLOW! I ordered a Mediterranean turkey burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was nothing to brag about as it was on the dry side. The fries were burnt to a crisp, hard, and charred! Totally not edible. I told the server the fries were terrible, she offered more fries "on the house" or another side dish. I declined simply because their service was slow, and I wasn't going to wait another 30 minutes for another side dish. The restaurant wasn't too busy, so I could not account for the slow service. In the past, their food and menu choices were so much better, and the food was delicious. Not any more. I doubt I will be coming back. We were placed across from a large party that was thankfully finishing up as they were loud and messy, but unfortunately they were replaced by another party right after, despite the restaurant not being packed. Our server seemed new and unsure. We ordered the spinach dip to start, which was delightful. I had their blackened mahi tacos and enjoyed them. The espresso martini was good too. I was disappointed, to say the least, that they did not take my request for a quiet table seriously. We came here for my birthday dinner and had hopes for a good experience. It was... "okay." We had made reservations for this place a few days before. It has a sort of openness and hollowness that is reminiscent of a school cafeteria in the acoustics. We read through the menu and decided on our orders. We waited for quite a while before a young lady approached us with apologies for the delay. We were seated outside of her designated section and no one had told her about it. Anyhow... We ordered drinks and waited... and waited... and waited. Eventually a manager came over who apologized for the initial wait, explained the lack of communication, and offered to buy us dessert. The waitress arrived a short time later with our beverages. We opted for the "Baked Feta" appetizer to start. I ordered the "Certified Angus Filet" and she had the "Glazed Salmon." The baked feta was nicely presented in a small cast-iron pan topped with figs, pistachios, honey, and served with some toasted bread. It was a bit cumbersome to manage, but we finally got it to work out. Very tasty! Our meals arrived within a couple of minutes of receiving the appetizer, so we asked to have sent back while we completed our appetizer. The plates arrived after we were done. The salmon looked nicely prepared and well-plated. The steak was sort of... meh. The steak was rendered nicely and a very good cut. However, there was absolutely NO flavor/seasoning. I don't think there was a speck of salt at all. Equally unfortunate was the "rosemary demi glace." I couldn't detect any rosemary at all, and completely lacked any savory quality whatsoever. The aftertaste was almost bitter and repelling. Fortunately, the potatoes and asparagus were nicely done. She enjoyed her salmon quite a bit. Looked good. It had been awhile since we had stopped in here and at one time it was a favorite. Overall everything was okay. The lighting in here is amazing which is my favorite part. Booth seating really needs to be replaced at this point or reupholstered. The wild mushroom frittata was way overcooked border lining on being burnt and the "wild" mushroom was just creminis. It was not good. Everything else food wise was okay, not great but good enough. Our waitress was kind but despite being slow didn't check in so we had to get up to order another drink. Unfortunately the food just didn't hit the mark. The baked ricotta wasn't melty, the salmon was overcooked, the pizza was pretty good and came out hot. My husband and I visit Short Pump Town Center periodically for a change of scenery. This time we decided to try a new restaurant. This restaurant is located on W Broad St on the other side of the shopping center from Mellow Mushroom. It was 7:30 pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was not busy during dinner time. I don't think there were a dozen tables seated. I ordered the tuna poke. I thought I was okay with it being deconstructed, but I have never had tuna poke that didn't already have the dressing on the tuna at least. I didn't like how the carrot were those little carrot sticks. It would have been better if the carrot was grated. The pickled red cabbage was also cut thick, at least for my preference. Honestly ordered this dish for the protein, so that's what I mostly ate. My husband ordered the roasted half chicken after I asked our server for a recommendation. We both enjoyed the chicken. My husband liked it so much that he is going to try to recreate the sauce at home. The esthetic of the restaurant was clean lines with nature elements lik bare trees and a mini tub with succulents & houseplants. Prices are too bad for this crappy Biden economy. It was okay. My husband and I used to frequent this restaurant when we lived near West Cary Street. The staff is wonderful. Chris the manager, Cat and Kate who work behind the bar, wait staff, Sophie, Destiny and Luke, excel at their jobs and go out of their way to make customers like my my Steve and me feel welcomed and valued. The food is tasty. My Steve and I have tried the sandwiches and pizza. I prefer the Sliced chicken panini with mozzarella and the turkey while my enjoys the beef burger. The California Club is a mutual choice. We have both tried the Margarita pizza and I love the salads. We are both dessert lovers and our mutual favorite is the Nutella mousse. It's like eating mousse and chocolate covered cherries simultaneously. And my favorite brunch item is the French toast. The problem here is the kitchen staff. They consistently get our order wrong. We were there on Friday and we both ordered the California Club. My husband requested that the bread be un toasted. He had to send it back because you guessed it the bread was toasted. Then mine got sent back because I ordered no aioli and got aioli and the cook forgot to put the avocado on my sandwich. There has been at least one occasion where the breakfast sausage has been burned beyond recognition. I am giving five stars because with the exception of the sausage the food is delicious. When we finally got our orders prepared right on Friday everything was tasty. We also find the atmosphere calming. Eating outside is peaceful. I close my eyes and pretend my husband and I are at an cafe in Paris. The interior is large airy light filled space and tree branches are intertwined on wooden surfaces. The kitchen staff just need to pay closer attention to the way people order their food. read more

I was looking for a restaurant with a private room to host my daughter's bridal shower. She is vegan and I quickly found out that other restaurants either didn't have any vegan options or the cost to rent the room was exorbitant. I worked with Andrew and Coleman who shared information on cost and what was included and they were incredible! They let me create custom drink names for the cocktails and they printed out a special cocktail menu for our event. On the day of the shower, they even helped me unload my car with everything I had to decorate the room. On the day of the shower Diego and Rylee were our servers and they were also incredible! I seriously cannot say enough great things about the service and the food and I highly recommend booking the private room here if you have an event. You can make reservations online but this time my dad and I just walked in at 12! The decor is super pretty but simple. The staff greeted us and sat us down right away. The food came out super fast which was great! They have a lot of outdoor seating, so on nice days it would be great to sit outside! My dad go the Fish Tacos and said they were spicy but the best fish tacos he's ever had and we've tried all the tacos places around us! I flew in from Florida and my brother and I brought my grandma here for her birthday. We sat at a table and were greeted with regular water. We asked the server if we could have bottled sparkling water instead. It took 10 minutes for him to bring us our water. We ordered coffee and cranberry juice, which came out separately. I had to get up to ask for spoons for the coffee because we didn't weren't given any. Talk about a beautiful cafe! While in Short Pump, I wanted a quick, light lunch and since The Daily was nearby, we chose to eat there. We arrived around 1:30pm on a Sunday and were able to get seated right away. As we walked in, we both noticed how aesthetically pleasing the restaurant was. It was very clean and beautifully decorated with touches of green. Our waitress was very nice and personable and helped us choose a great lunch option. We decided on the Kale Salad which included pumpkin seeds, pecorino, small diced apples, pomegranate, and honey apple cider vinaigrette dressing. I decided to add chicken to my salad while my boyfriend kept it plain but the ingredients were so fresh, it tasted like they were growing the kale themselves. We did have to ask for another side of salad dressing since what was provided wasn't enough for us but the waitress happily brought out more for us. The salads were delicious. The drinks were also just as amazing. My boyfriend has been on a mojito kick so he had the strawberry mojito made for him while I decided on the Blackberry Basil Margarita! Both cocktails were very refreshing. The next time I'm in the Richmond area, I will definitely be going back and trying other items on the menu. I've eaten here several times and I think I may be done. On the positive side, the restaurant is very pretty and has a great vibe for a ladies' lunch. The menu sounds great and there are some items that are very good. I've enjoyed the flatbread pizzas. My gluten free friends eat here all the time. Personally, I think the food is just fair and too expensive for the quality and taste. Yesterday, I took my daughter at 2:30. By the time our food arrived it was 45 min for a burger and teriyaki bowl. With the bowls, it comes with the base (I substituted the brown rice for white rice), vegetables and sauce. You can add protein for a charge, which is a common model these days. For $6, I got 4 small pieces of chicken and the chicken was so overcooked, dry and bland. My daughter tried the chicken too and didn't like it. The waitress offered to make me something else, but after the wait, I wasn't interested in waiting again. So I've gone to The Daily on Cary Street and had a superb dinner and excellent service. The location in Short Pump can't hold a candle to the Cary Street location. Thursday night had reservations for three at 7pm. We arrived on time. Hostess at station seemed zombied out like cold, indifferent uncaring. For Pete's sake smile make your guests feel welcomed. She wore a tshirt that at best was a mini dress when she arranged tables or walked her God given posterior was in view under what gosh seemed like mini boxer shorts. I'm sure the men were enjoying to view. FYI when you wipe the table don't throw food onto the floor where someone can slip and fall on it. We were seated but it took 15 minutes before we had a waitress come ask us for drinks. And another 10 minutes to get them - I could see her at the station chatting and drinking water. Sensing the s-l-o-w pace of things we all ordered our one appetizer and three entrees. My Calamari were itsy- bitsy dry and way overcooked. Our entrees all arrived at once food was nice and warm - Kudos. I had asked for a side of mashed potatoes that didn't arrive- they were deducted from the tab. My friends all enjoyed their entrees however mine had only 5 shrimp in it that too were overcooked. I asked for a box to go. Waitress came by twice and forgot it each time finally it arrived with our check. A lot of potential While visiting the Richmond area we decided to give the Daily a try. First, it is important to highlight that the service was great from the moment we walked in and that the restaurant offers an environment that is perfect for enjoying a meal with family or friends. The menu has options for everyone, portions are decent, and well priced. The issue during our visit was that of all the dishes that we tried, they were all lacking something, that extra "oomph" of flavor that would make the meal special. All in all, The Daily is a decent food spot, that has all the right attributes to be great, but it is just missing that final detail on the food. Came here for brunch on a Sunday after many good experiences at the Carytown location, only to be very disappointed with this visit. Our server, Vee, did not seem to be well trained on the menu. When we were sat, we were the only table in the section. Service at first seemed fine. I ordered the banana bread and the breakfast burrito. My friend ordered the mushroom frittata. When the food arrived, we received the bread pudding french toast instead of the banana bread. Before we could say something, our server was gone. My friend's frittata was overcooked to the point of being rubbery (hot, but just barely edible) and she never received the potatoes that were supposed to come with it. My burrito was fine, but meh. When our server finally returned, we advised about the bread mix-up and she took away the bread pudding, and brought back banana bread that had obviously been toasted (on one side) and was somewhat charred, actually. Missing - the honey butter that was supposed to come with it. It was several more minutes before she was back again and we asked for butter, only to get pre-wrapped packets, not the honey butter that was supposed to come with it. It also took asking for coffee refills multiple times before we got a refill. And even then only half a cup each. Overall, a very disappointing visit. Only advantage this location has over Carytown is parking, but I would much rather have to look for parking than have such a mediocre meal. I have gone to this location for years and it has always been top tier, from service to food. I went with a friend yesterday who I havent seen in a couple years and I was floored with the service. Addison was 100/10. The food was perfect and of all the experiences at any restaurant she was the best. We were also offered a reunion comp dessert because it was almost our 10yr anniversary of the beginning of friendship. Timing of checking in on us was impeccable and even though we ended up staying for 4 hours there was no pushing to settle the check and leave. I also love all of the vegan and gluten free choices on the menu. Those who I've gone with who aren't v/gf rave on the dishes. This is a must go for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. read more

We drove down to see my daughter in Richmond, and we stopped at the Daily Kitchen and Bar for lunch. It's a nice casual place, and there was not a wait at 1:45 on a Sunday afternoon. My wife started with a Passion fruit mimosa, I had a pineapple mimosa. Very nice. My wife had Eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the Hollandaise sauce was nice and tangy without being too much so. I had an omelet with spinach, goat cheese and grape tomatoes. Perfect set of ingredients. The eggs were not cooked too much either. Just right. All in all a nice lunch. This is a place we will return to. read more
