Just a drive up/walk up tiny building off of Aquarena Springs that sports a line to the streets some weekends. The people are always friendly and they have great tortillas, everything seems very fresh, the taco is assembled after you order it so its nice and warm when you get it. What happened, Lolitas?? I just got a couple of breakfast tacos and they were truly AWFUL. It's been a couple of years since my last visit, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get any fancier in my taco taste. I got the chorizo, egg, and cheese- pretty standard. The cheese was that gross 97% saturated fat stuff you get from 'queso machines' at dumpy theaters and half the taco was literally SATURATED in the chorizo grease. It was like tortilla soup. Not the way I wanted to start my day. Wish Delisioso's Tacos over by Mochas and Javas opened earlier, I would def have gone there instead with my 5 bucks. read more

I had just finished having an MRI done in San Marcos and was hungry. So I pull out my iPad and google "best tacos in San Marcos" and this little jewel popped up first.. I ordered the picadillo with cheese and it was FANTASTIC. As I drove down 35 back to SA - I was WISHING I had ordered 2!!!! This is either the 1st or 2nd best morning taco places in san marcos. Especially if you want your food right away. Just be WARNED, you won't get your food right away because they'll be so many cars in line before you!!! (Or you can wake up at a ungodly hour to get'em) Which is a good thing, lets you know they're popular. They even started delivering tacos to the Shell Gas Station right up the road where Thorpe L. begins. I just stopped a Lolita's for 2 Barbacoa tacos, (usually get tacos every morning on my way to work) and left thinking I'll enjoy them once I get to my destination. Well come to find out I should have looked in the bag. Only 1 taco and 2 salsas were in there. I checked inside my car to ensure it didn't fall out, and sure enough they had only given me 1 taco. On a previous experience I ordered a picadillo con frijoles y queso(meat, bean, and cheese) , and Lolita ( the owner) took my order as usual. When I received my order it was a bean and cheese taco. Looks like I will be avoiding Lolita's for a while again. I don't know why I keep buying breakfast tacos from them....they're bland at best. And it's a gamble on wether the stuff on the label is in the taco. Bought a PaPa Ranchera Egg, it had no jalapeños, a little piece of tomato, and looked horrible. read more

Really hard to get to this establishment in the morning due to inadequate spacing for the drive thru/walk up window (3 cars at the order window goes out into the street). Tacos, both breakfast and lunch, are overpriced for what they are and do not taste very good. Go get Exxon tacos; same price but much better tasting. read more

I came here for years,back when it was Hot Dog II and had The Best Breakfast Tacos. It is a sad, sad disappointment now. The lines are very long (maybe 6 cars in front of me and a 30 minute wait). The salsa is not hot and spicy. The quality of ingredients is really lacking. The cheese is some fake processed stuff that took an ok taco to terrible. This was my all time favorite place in San Marcos but I will be skipping it on future visits. read more

Marginal tacos. Eggs are over-beaten to the point of having a sandy texture. You'd think they were fake eggs except for the flats of egg shells stacked by the back door. Bacon is the big chunks, over-cooked and often in a big clump instead of distributed evenly throughout the taco. I've eaten a lot of tacos from Lolita's and I've gradually given up on them. They used to be a lot faster when they were less popular but in the last couple years the lines have gotten longer - probably because a lot of college kids will eat any kind of schlock you put in front of them. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly and the tacos are affordable. read more
