My go to place for drive thru breakfast tacos. Excellent also are their plate lunches. Can't say what dinners like.

service was bad saying this because we had to keep asking for the bare necessities, fork napkins, tortillas that should come with the meal. Flour Tortillas are so thick and no flavor basically a large pita bread. The breakfast plates that come with pancakes - we had to ask multiple times for the pancakes, then they brought them with no syrup or butter. The red and green salsa had too much vinegar and was not spicy at all. The menudo was not flavorful, very watered down. This place was good years ago and i'm so disappointed today. My husband and I have now given Los Gallos Taco House in New Braunfels three opportunities, and unfortunately each visit has been worse than the last. After this experience, we will not be returning. On our most recent visit, we waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes without receiving our food. During that time, we watched multiple customers who arrived after us be seated, served, eat, and leave before we were ever served. What made the experience even more frustrating was seeing our food sitting on the counter for well over 15 minutes while our server repeatedly walked past our table without making eye contact or acknowledging us. We felt completely ignored, as though we didn't exist. It was incredibly disrespectful and disappointing. This wasn't an isolated incident. Similar treatment has happened to us on three separate visits with different servers, which leads us to believe this is a problem with how the restaurant is managed rather than with any one employee. We also observed another couple nearby experiencing similar neglect. I can't say why we were treated this way, but after three visits, it left us feeling unwelcome. Good food cannot make up for poor service and a lack of basic courtesy. I hope management takes these concerns seriously because no customer should be made to feel ignored for over an hour. Tex Mex breakfast in New Braunfels. A big full plate of Huevos rancheros. Good beans, crispy bacon, could have used the potatoes crispier vs soft fried, and probably should have asked for some extra ranchero sauce. Didn't feel like enough. The food is okay at best the best part of the food was the Tortillas they were huge and light and fluffy. Don't come expecting fast service we got seated and still waited like 5 minutes to even get the menu and another 7 just for someone to take our drink order, we tried to hunt down our server to pay and that took about 15 minutes. So it is a Saturday morning at 10 AM and the wife and I happen to be running errands and end up in New Braunfels. Anyone who knows the NB food scene knows this is the prime breakfast window. After going to a few of our regular haunts and finding wait times of 30 minutes to an hour, I brought up my trustee Yelp app and this place came up. So rolling the dice, we ventured to this "new-to-us" spot. This is off a main road in NB. It is in a small strip center next to a CBD dispensary. We arrived. There was lively music playing. The place was pretty full and we were quickly seated. We ordered. I just wanted tacos and ordered 3 of my favs. I ordered a Carne Guisadsa, Barbacoa, and a Bacon and Egg taco - all on flour tortillas. The waitress looked at me and said "the tacos are big". I looked at her and said "OK, take off the Bacon and Egg". That was a good warning for a nubie. They arrived and were huge! They were awesome! The tortillas were tasty. Those of you who like tacos know the tortilla can sink the overall flavor and experience. This place was a pleasant surprise for breakfast! We will be back. This place is a great local hot spot. You walk in and seat yourself but the waitstaff is pretty quick to help you and/or let you know they see you and will be right with you. Tables are small and there's a lot going on the tables with salt, pepper, salsa, chips m, etc. Make sure you like your company 'cause you'll be close. There is a lot of room for those small tables to accommodate a big crowd. It's perfect. The chips are grainy and thicker and super delicious. We love the salsa also. They have their salsa blend down to a science. In Texas, you can always tell if the food is good by the chips and salsa. Los Gallos is a long time favorite. One of my favorite things is the HUGE to go cup they bring your drink in & the ice is Texas friendly. It's nice and thick and melt resistant. Lol. I got half sweet and half unsweetened tea. A must for me! Of course if you order barbacoa, it's delicious with a Big Red. We ordered 3 tacos to share between two of us. Even that was a lot of food. We ordered a potato and bean, carne Guisada, and barbacoa. I always have to get my barbacoa with some onion, cilantro and lime. We also got a side of pico de gallo this time. I love how finely chopped everything is. My son got the huevos rancheros. The potatoes are big bites -& the beans have a slight smokey flavor to them. The bacon was crispier than most places and the over easy eggs cooked just right. The ranchero sauce was on top. It was okay but just okay. We won't order it again as we thought it was pretty basic and a better deal to get a taco. The carne Guisada was good. It had huge chunks of tender slow cooked beef. As a matter of preference, it's not my favorite but it was still good and cooked to perfection. The tortillas are homemade and they are some of the thickest tortillas you can find. Some may like that but I'm more of a baby bear kind of tortilla girl. Thick and thin-but I prefer them just right-some where in the middle of those. They are still good but it's almost too much for me. They do help to really fill you up. I'd say the star of the show is the barbacoa. It's seasoned and cooked perfectly. It's not greasy. Los Gallos is one of my favorite places to get barbacoa. Prices are super reasonable for what you get. Like I said, the tacos are huge. I'd say most can barely finish one. The staff is really friendly and helpful. When you are ready just go to the area next to where the waitstaff are placing their orders and they will ring you up there. And enjoy!!!!! read more

This place is always packed for a reason! New Braunfels breakfast taco classic. Service is quick. Sometimes you seat yourself and sometimes you need to wait to be seated when they have the sign out. We sat in a corner that was hard to see and still only waited maybe 5 minutes to be served. Food is incredible but be warned the tacos are HUGE. I recommend sharing them. I have only ordered breakfast tacos Togo from here, but they are AMAZING. 1 taco is the equivalent of 2-3 tacos from any other spot. Stopped here on our way from Austin for breakfast after seeing a recent video on this location. It's located in a small shopping with plenty of parking. When we walked in we were greeted by several waitresses and were promptly seated. The inside is not huge yet had lots of tables. My family and I all ordered tacos. Let's just say I agree with everyone else's review, the tacos are massive and filled. I ordered a potato, egg, bean, and bacon taco. I couldn't even finish it as I was stuffed. Disturbing Experience at Los Gallos Tacos House - 07/22/2025 As a first-time visitor to New Braunfels, I was excited to try Los Gallos Tacos House, a place highly recommended by the community. Not knowing the business hours, I decided to drive by and check it out. The door was unlocked, so I stepped inside. Unfortunately, the experience took a shocking turn. The first thing I witnessed was an older man--possibly the owner--angrily yelling at two female employees. While I couldn't fully understand the situation, what followed was completely unacceptable: he began using racial slurs toward them. That was enough for me--I immediately walked out. This incident occurred today, 07/22/2025. I don't recall the exact time, but I felt compelled to speak up. No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect--especially hard-working employees trying to do their job. Please do better. Thank you. read more

If you are in New Braunfels this place is a must. Everyone I've told that I was in the NB said to try this place. Me and some coworkers came and tried it out. The food is great and flavorful. If you want tacos this is the place. Be wary they are not your ordinary tacos. These are tacos on roids. They start off with a huge homemade tortilla that is as thick as a pita bread. They put plenty of meat or ingredients in your taco. I swear Richard had about 3/4 of a lb of barbacoa in his taco. Paula also had a plate with looked like a feast. I normally trust Elder Eats and came here after watching the video and I thought the pictures looked promising. I drove out here once and walked inside and waited to be seated. There was nobody available to greet me or seat me at a table so I stood there for a few minutes looking like an idiot. I finally found a waitress and asked if I could sit anywhere and she said yes. I got a bowl of cooled and overly salted chips and bland salsa. The waitress took forever to get to my table. I ordered a carne guisada plate with borracho beans instead of refried and an horchata. My order arrived but the waitress got the beans wrong and got me refried instead of borracho beans like I had requested. She failed to apologize for the error and took the plate back to correct it. I took a bite of the tortilla and it was the worst tasting tortilla I've ever eaten. It tasted more like a wheat tortilla instead of flour. Minutes later my corrected order arrived. The carne guisada was good and had big and fat free chunks of meat, the rice was fair and the borracho beans were good. So to sum it all up, the food was OK but the service needed lots of improvement. I'm never coming back here again. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. I'm a long time customer of this establishment. I had lunch yesterday. Both my friend and I ordered 2 soft tacos a la carte each. Menu price was $2.30 each. When the bill came, we were charged $7.30 each. We discussed with our waitress and then asked for the manager. They first noted the print that said "prices subject to change" and then told us it was the crispy tacos that were $2.30. Well, shouldn't someone have mentioned that we were ordering something that was over 3 times the menu price? The manager even said that she's been arguing with the owner about this problem. The next table even offered to pay for our tacos. But, that wasn't the point. A $5 difference per item should have been told to us as we ordered. We would have ordered something different. We offered to pay menu price or even $1 more, but they refused payment and consequently came outside and said we were no longer welcome there. Fine. Your loss. We like homemade flour tortillas but these were some of the thickest we have ever seen in 40+ years. Too thick for our taste. The taste was rather bland overall but the salsa helped. In the mood for some really good tacos, and wanting to try something new, I decided to give Los Gallos a try. The evening prior involved a lot of adult beverages to celebrate a work related event, so my throbbing head and grumbling stomach needed some relief. My neighbor suggested Los Gallos and said they were the bomb. Also, I remembered seeing a SA Live video online showcasing Los Gallos. I have lived in New Braunfels for a while now, and have driven by this place many times not knowing it. So, I hopped in my car and took a little trip. I did not have time to sit down and eat, so I hit the drive through line when I arrived. It was three cars deep, so I was going to be there for a bit. No big deal. Good tacos should take time and be made fresh. After a short wait, I pulled up to the window. A nice young gentleman (Austin?) took my order, and my payment, and I waited. A lot of good selections on the menu, so I kept it simple and ordered two bacon and egg tacos. After another short wait, the nice fellow handed me my order. The bag had some decent weight to it, so these tacos had to be big. Once I arrived home, I opened my bag and dove right in. I picked up my first taco and noticed right away this joker had some weight to it! Hoping it was packed with goodies, I peeled back the aluminum foil and unrolled the taco. The tortilla was fresh, and thicker than your regular tortilla. So far, so good. After I peeled back the tortilla, I was very disappointed. This taco had so much going for it up until this point. This monster taco only had one piece of bacon in it in, and the eggs were not totally cooked (watery and runny). With all of the room under that tortilla, there was plenty of space to put more bacon. The one piece of bacon in there was pretty pathetic, and looked old and rubbery. Like it was precooked and had been laying around for a few days. I rolled the taco back up, and took a big bite. The tortilla was good, the eggs (although watery and runny) were good, but the bacon was absolutely terrible. The bacon got stuck in my teeth, and was like chewing on a Goodyear tire. After about three bites, I waved the white flag, and chalked this taco up to a loss. I promptly walked across the street to my neighbor, and donated my second taco. I had such high hopes for these tacos, so this took the wind right out of my sails. There was no effort, and more importantly no love, put into making these tacos. Quantity over quality here. I will eventually give this place another shot. Their lunch plates look pretty good, so maybe this place excels at lunch. Right now, three stars is all I can give this place in good conscience. I finally stopped here this morning after hearing so much about it. My coworkers highly recommend the breakfast tacos here. I was not disappointed this place is good. The size of the tacos are amazing, one taco here is like two at any other taco place. In fact my wife had to cut hers in half. She at one half for breakfast and the other for lunch. I had a bacon egg and cheese and she had an egg and potato. The price of two tacos was close to $10 but the size of the tacos makes it worth it. The service was fast and the staff was nice.
