I've been coming here for almost a decade for breakfast and hope to come for decades more! The proprietor Lolly is a no BS not PC owner and I love every minute of it! It's a true greasy spoon and the ambience has a nostalgic feel of the favorite moments in the past and fun new memories from the present. Food is always made to order, hot and fresh and you are not encouraged to just sit there and occupy a table if you are not eating and I appreciate that as that makes the wait time for a table not too long! But get here before 9am on a summer weekend if you really want to grab a quick bite and go before the crowd gets there! read more

First time here and as others have pointed out the place is small. The furniture is right out of the 1950s. Decor seems to be a tribute to Dale Earnhardt. A regular spot for the locals, most of whom looked to be in their sixties or seventies. And probably not too fussy about what they are served. Food is unbelievably cheap and rather tasty. Service was quick. I must say I did enjoy my meal. However, the bathroom is a disaster. The paper towel dispenser is rusted and should have been replaced years ago. Dingy looking with cheesy signs telling people to use the brush to clean the toilet if they make a mess. Doesn't look like the room had been cleaned regularly. Made me question how clean the kitchen might be The biggest gripe I had concerned the decaf I ordered. Nothing to me can ruin a nice meal more than old coffee and this was definitely old stuff. When the waitperson came around to refill, I declined and asked if she could make a new pot. She had to confer with the cook (owner?) first. There was less than 20% in the pot. I have never been turned down in all my years of dining out. The ratings plummeted after this. read more

Heard for years how great this place was so finally checked it out. Egg sandwiches are excellent. We sat at the counter had egg in a roll with butter and a sausage egg cheese on a roll. Both were great and the coffees were fresh and plentiful. Staff was friendly, decor is nostalgic like the good old days, and Lolly was behind the griddle. Cash only but the prices are so reasonable that you can have breakfast for two for $20. Can't wait to go back. read more

Hands down one of the best breakfast spots I've EVER been to. The parking situation isn't ideal but when I noticed how big (which Lolly's Hut isn't) and saw all the cars parked around it ... I knew I needed to go in! Thank goodness I did. Lolly's Hut did not disappoint. From the minute I walked into Lolly's Hut I knew this spot was a legit. The way customers were slopping up their eggs and enjoying their pancakes while enjoying the company of who they were with, I was eager to sit down and order! My husband and I were going to wait on a table but when we noticed the counter had available seating, we decided to cop a squat there. Not even a minute after we sat we were asked if we wanted coffee and given menus by Paula, the cook. I ordered a short stack with sausage and my husband got the kielbasa, egg and cheese on a roll. Paula asked if I wanted butter on my pancakes and before I could say yes, she must have seen my eyes light up with delight ... I love me some butter ... lol. Usually you're given pancakes with a glob of butter and you have to maneuver the butter onto the lower pancakes without dripping the butter off ... but not at Lolly's Hut. When our orders came up, my short stack had the perfect amount of butter on each pancake. My husband said he never thought about kielbasa as a meat on a meat, egg and cheese and was pleasantly pleased with the choice. Even as she cooked the numerous amount of dishes, Paula checked on us to make sure we didn't need anything and was ok. What a sweetheart! Will I return? Absolutely. Will I tell anyone and everyone I know who wants a delicious breakfast before heading to Tanger Outlets about Lolly's Hut? You better believe it!! Now, with Papa Nick's closed, there are fewer choices for breakfast and lunch, neither of which is better. The food is good. I don't take the 'I don't have time for conversation' world-weariness of the staff personally. So with a lot of distractions in the form of newspaper clippings (including obituaries of who I guess were regulars), the vibe is kind of like a club that you're not in. Again, that's OK. Until I spotted a MAGA bumper sticker - not prominent - on the side of a refrigerator up front by the counter. I'm not interested in supporting that. If you're one of the 27.5% of the population that does, then you'll be happy here. There's a diner on the east side of town, south side of the road. But Bagel Lovers, across from the High School, is my new go-to. Whatever their political views are - the place is popular with cops - they don't give off a MAGA vibe. read more

Whenever I am in Riverhead, which is usually in the morning, I stop for breakfast. the food is always good. the prices are amazingly low. the service is top notch, the ambiance is nostalgic. This time I stopped by in the afternoon for lunch, well let me tell you, the lunch menu items take me back to my childhood when all that was served were the standard fare ( burgers, fries, blt sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, etc) I order the Cheeseburger Deluxe which comes with fries, lettuce, tomato, and a slice of raw onion all for $ 7.75, as good as any cheeseburger deluxe you get in a diner for $15.00 if you haven't eaten here, make it your business to stop in. their hours are limited 7:30- 2:30 and by the way, Lolly does exist and works the grill on Wednesdays read more

Lolly's Hut is a literal side of the road "snack" hut run by an old grandma named Lolly. She doesn't move very fast and doesn't like it if you try to rush her. I ordered the hot pastrami and the sandwich was pretty damn bad. It was salty as all heck and barely edible. While I was there, another gentleman ordered the turkey club and never received it. He told the waitress that he would like to pay for his soda and go because he couldn't wait any longer. Upon hearing this Lolly was whipped into a bit of a frenzy and basically said something to the effect of "I'm 100 years old I'm doing my best... and now you've gone ahead and upset me." I found this interaction quite amusing as the guy wasn't even really upset. He just really had to go and wanted to let them know he had waited awhile for his turkey club and couldn't any longer. By the way this place is frequented entirely by the AARP crowd. I was probably the only person in here below the age of 50. The couple next to me literally ordered a breakfast platter with like one egg (not kidding). This is that type of place. It's worth coming in just to experience it. We've driven past this place for years and finally gave it a try on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. The place was hopping! We were fortunate to get the last table although there were a few seats at the "bar" still available. People throughout our visit were told they had to wait outside (it's a very small dining area) until seats opened up, and most of them did, knowing it'd be worth the wait! At that point they were turning down to-go orders because they were so busy. We ordered blueberry pancakes, sausage, a scrambled egg, kielbasa, whole wheat toast, coffee, and hot tea. Everything was delicious, but it did take about an hour for our party of 2 to receive our food. I think there was only one person cooking though, and she did a great job serving up fantastic eats! Our server was friendly and kept our drinks filled as we waited for our food. The prices were so reasonable, about $25 for the two of us before tip! I would definitely go back, but I would try to get there earlier if on a weekend or might try for a weekday. read more

Yeah , I have been to this places many times before with friends and the service is usually slow due to the lack of staff and space but what was ridiculous today was how the waiter was completely overwhelmed and served 5 tables before us while we were waiting over an hour. So when ending up just getting out of there. The service needs to be looking at ways that it can account for the amount of customers versus how much food that can produced in a timely fashion. They had to kick people out because there was not waiting area at all. If you have one cook trying to prepare 7 table's orders at the same time and has no help except a preparer in the back while one of the bus girls stays in the corner not doing anything than the service will be slow. The food as I remember was good but we didn't even get to eat so if you want to make the wait go ahead but you'll starve before it gets to you. read more

There is nothing fancy, just good cheap breakfast and lunch (after 11:30am) food served by some friendly staff that has been working here since the Reagan administration. One morning, I had the kielbasa, cheese and two eggs on a super soft kaiser roll. Honestly, I wish there was more meat and cheese, but you can't complain at these prices. If I am hungry next time, I'll just ask for double the meat and cheese. With that said, the sandwich was delicious. Btw, that roll was sooooo fluffy! One of my friends had a western omelette, another had a bacon egg & cheese, while the third person had a sausage egg & cheese. We also added a side order of chicken salad. This restaurante was very unique, its reviewed quite high on google reviews and after I ate there I can see why. This restaurant is a blue house, turned into a diner. It seems like it was the locals go to place for breakfast. I went on a Friday around 9am and it was packed. The dining area was not big, but but full. You sit wherever you like. There was only one cook and one server and one bus lady while we were there. The food: the menu was simple and the prices were the lowest I've seen in 2022 (see pics for the menu) I had the western omelet, and it was just enough to hold me till lunch time. My wife had the plantation (strange name) but it was 2 pancakes eggs, bacon and sausage, and she was not able to finish it. The food was okay, nothing to brag about, the home fries were boiled potatoes that was then thrown on the grill, and the bacon and eggs and sausage were all standard tasting. This restaurant is a staple for the locals, the food is simple, cheap, consistent. I may not go there again this year but possible within the next 3 years to see if anything changes. This place is fantastic! Wife grew up here and came back to visit family. Looking for a place for breakfast, decided to try this blast from the past. Place is small, and reminds you of a small '50's diner. Both of us had eggs and kielbasa which were great. Waitress Chrissy was friendly and attentive. You can not beat this little "hut" for good food, good prices and an old time ambiance. Built in 1952 as a truck stop along Route 58, when there were no other businesses there, it was popular then. The "new" owner (1990's) kept it pretty much the same as it was then. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Portions are large and taste good. The service was horrible. The cheese omelet is $6.95 on the menu, comes with toast and hash browns. I order and she asks do u want American, Swiss or cheddar. I ask for cheddar. The order arrives with no hash browns bc they ran out. The only substitute that is offered is third slice of toast, no thank you. The bill comes and the cheese omelette charged at 9.95. I ask about the price diff and she says the cheddar was extra. 3.00 almost half the cost of the original $ for omelette. I ask if she'd adjust the price for no potatoes, she says no they're complimentary. You can't make this up.
