And it's spotless and perfect. Service is spot on with a touch of sarcasm, like it should be when everyone seems to know everyone here. Great diner style coffee and super fresh and tasty juices will come out quick and so will your food. Except the home made corned beef hash. You'll wait a few minutes, and just a few extra minutes for that. Because they basically make from scratch on the spot. At least that's what it tastes like. When we walked in I noticed the waitress leaning on the counter and she was picking her teeth with her finger nails. We placed our breakfast order and part of it was a fresh fruit bowl. What I didn't expect was our waitress made the fruit bowl by grabbing a banana, peeling it and used her hands that were just in her mouth to hold it while slicing it. She did the same with slicing the strawberries and then added the blueberries. I couldn't eat a bite of fruit and didn't want a confrontation over it either. I hope the cafe rethinks letting wait staff handle food because they do not have clean hands. They are also handling money and menus which are touched by too many people and then seeing her pick her teeth and use her hands to touch food was just wrong. What an adorable breakfast spot. I would say 99.9% regulars, a much older crowd but hey we fit into that pool. Big portions, attentive wait staff and we took two doggie bags home because that's how much food you get served. We don't live in this area but we did notice all the cars out front, that's what made us decide to go. Their tomato juice was served in a big glass and was very tasty. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a good breakfast. But 20 minutes later, the order still was not ready. The rude woman behind the counter told me it's ready now, but the cook in advertently put a table order not my order. She rudely said we're only human and they had to make the order. But didn't she realize my customer is also human after I had been there more than a half an hour? I visited this restaurant while in my mothers hometown area of Patchogue, LI. The service was great and portions huge! I had Pancakes with egg whites and the pastrami hash-everything was delicious. Normally I would find a way to contact the place by email or messenger but they don't have any of that. No one working there except for one man is wearing a mask. The waitress that takes your orders, hands you the foods and speaks to different customers throughout the day and doesn't wear a mask. My son and I stopped in there for breakfast recently, I had a western omelet and my son had French toast. Everything was fine. We ate our food and left. About 1 hour later my son started to feel bad. !5 minutes more and he was throwing up on the side of the road. Food was ordered for lunch for my entire office through Uber. The wrong food was delivered and I contacted George's. The lady who answered the phone was rude and unprofessional. After speaking with her she checked the order and they did in fact bill us for the full order but left many items off the order. She then said we have to deal with Uber even though George's made the error. There is a war in Patchogue. It's not in the sense of violence or blood shed. It's about choice. Peter's or George's, which is the better diner! Well I am here to end that battle once and for all! It's George's Luncheonette, I am here to explain why. When I pulled up to the diner the vibe I got was positive. Not because I felt something in my bones, it's because the parking lot was packed! I knew something good was going on inside George's. We walked into the diner, they had a short wait but the waitresses were very pleasant asking if we wanted to wait at the bar for a table. I really felt like they cared. Looking around George's I see they renovated because everything looked new inside; fresh walls, new seats, and nice clean tables. When we finally got seated we had the luck to have Dawn as our waitress. First impressions matter and Dawn delivered perfectly for the business. Dawn was engaged with us and friendly while we picked our order. Dawn even promoted future deals at George's without trying to sound pushy, A+ for effort Dawn! I got a omelette with cheese, of course, sausage, bacon, home fries, and wheat toast, of course wheat, I eat healthy. They offer coffee or OJ with the meal complementary of George's. Five stars all around just for the free OJ. I began eating the food and had to step back for a minute while I drifted off into my childhood. I felt comfort and safety in the well known taste of the eggs and sausage like my mother use to make. It felt like Sunday morning still under my blanket with my toes sticking out with every bite. All under the umbrella of great people around complimenting the place. The food was perfect, the waitress Dawn was perfect the entire visit was perfect. I normally have to at least include one negative with my visit, it brings balance to the force, the only one thing I would say is they don't take credit cards. That's normal in Patchogue so I knew to ask. But that's not enough to keep me out. I feel like everyone here makes you feel like family. This One great visit sets the bar high for all dining for me. If I enter another diner in the future the first thing I will think now is......."will that waitress be great like Dawn?" I have been to both places Peter's and George's and there is no competition! The interior is your basic luncheonette style, which has recently been updated. This place screams the eighties...including the patrons. I have a fave here. This was my first visit and I am happy to say I thoroughly enjoyed not on,y the food but the down home atmosphere and friendly waitresses. Almost makes me want to not rave about them because I am afraid Georges will become well known and difficult to get into. Went for breakfast and it was wonderful. So we decided we must check this place out because Evan is on point. We both ordered the Colossal Burger Platter. The burger was stacked with mozzarella sticks, cole slaw, bacon and cheese. We got the slaw and mozzarella sticks on the side. The platter also had shoe string fries. The burger was grilled perfectly to my specifications. It was juicy and tasty. The overall seating area is authentic old. It reminds me of a diner you grow up with as a child. The booths are old fashion as well. However the diner is clean and so is the bathroom. As you know clean bathrooms tell a story about the restaurant. The waitress was pleasant but was not as great as Evan C's. she didn't check on us other than when I asked for a box for leftovers but checked on others, frequently-hmmmm? Don't remember her name, young, but she needs to work on brushing up on her waitressing skills. Service is part of your experience. I just came from this diner awhile ago. I know that the restaurant industry have been experiencing staff shortages. So I ALWAYS make it a point to be courteous and patient. But there was a staff member who was giving me attitude. I had noticed she'd been grumpy as I was waiting for my takeout order. The moment I got there, she already spoke to me in a bitchy way. I didn't pay it any attention. She was grouchy again when she told me to move and sit by the counter. I didn't take it against her. I waited for 30 MINUTES for my food. When I saw that it was ready, I flashed her my ID just to prove that I was the person picking up the order (I ordered online). And she gave me attitude AGAIN! Finally, I had enough. I was fuming. But I still tried to remain calm and tried to tell her very nicely that I waited for so long and didn't complain but that I didn't appreciate her attitude. But she had a sarcastic, bitchy response: "Well, sorry you feel that way, GOODBYE" (definitely a bitchy non-apology). It was then that I blew my top. I couldn't help myself any longer. I'll get it out of the way first: George's beats Pete's. The times I go to Pete's I think of how I could be at George's instead. The restaurant is located in a small strip of stores on Montauk Highway and is easy to miss, but parking is plentiful if you drive through the lot to the back. If it's not busy, you can seat yourself. The food is great, coffee always filled, and their breakfast potatoes are outstanding. The portions are more than filling, I never finish and I feel bad not doing so. I always get their western omelet with some American cheese on top and it's delicious. A lot of seniors frequent the place, and I appreciate their loyalty to this place - but it's not hard to be loyal when their food is great! As another reviewer said, I have occasionally had to wait for the check, but that's okay because I like to talk. Staff is friendly, and don't get in the way which is something I like. Worst service ever. To start with the waitress only gave us 1 straw for our drinks and I had to actually get up and ask for another straw because no one checked in on us to see if we needed anything. I was so excited to order from this restaurant because it has such outstanding reviews. My husband and I were really in the mood for a good burger and I specifically saw a reviewer thank someone that had recommended this place. There was a picture of a burger along with the review. When we received our order, I wondered what other reviewers had been smoking when they wrote their stellar reviews. The burger was obviously a frozen burger to start and the bun was worse quality than a grocery store bun. It fell apart when I lifted it to add ketchup to the burger. The taste was substandard as well, with the burger leaving a weird aftertaste after taking a bite. The fries were spongy and thin, with no crunch or seasoning whatsoever. This had to have been the single worst burger and fries I have ever had the displeasure to eat in my life. I strongly advise running to literally any other restaurant for a better burger experience.
