My wife and I were meeting a friend who lives in Laurel for dinner. We researched local restaurants and came across the Watershed Kitchen and Inn on OpenTable. The description of the restaurant, the menus and the reviews online made us to decide to give them a try. We're so glad that we did! We entered through the bar entrance which was lively but not crazy loud. There was a musician setting up in one corner of the bar area. We could hear him during our dinner but it was not at all distracting (and he was quite good). We were greeted by one of the hosts (who I now believe may be one of the owners). We were welcomed and escorted to a table in the dining room right behind the bar area. From what I could determine, there were at least two other dining areas and an outside dining area (for dining during the nicer weather). Our server quickly came to welcome us, ask if we had questions about the menu / specials and to take our drink order. She was attentive, pleasant and was able to quickly and accurately answer questions that we had (we have some dietary restrictions and needed to verify some ingredients. She knew immediately what we could order to dine safely. We started our order with the Chiccharon appetizer. I had anticipated that the item would be traditional crispy Chiccaron. Instead the dish was more of a pork belly in a broth. We actually enjoyed that much more! It was plentiful, cooked to perfection and flavorful. For dinner my wife and our friend ordered the sea bass special. They both thought it was plentiful, perfectly prepared and tasted great. I ordered the pork chop with spicy cherry peppers in a light evoo broth. I told our server that I wasn't eating potatoes or rice and asked for a recommendation for a substitute. She recommended the broccolini which was a perfect alternative. My pork chop was served perfectly (medium, juicy,) and was huge! We passed on dessert but the options looked amazing. This was our second time visiting there. Cute and quaint place in an interesting location because you're in a residential area. I ordered the vegetable panini and it was delicious. There was a hair in it (I've worked in a restaurant before so I was extremely understanding about that). I sent it back for a new one and they took it off the bill without me asking. My husband ordered the burger and he devoured it. The truffle fries are a must. Last time they had a better more varied beer selection. This time they only had one IPA on tap but it was good. I really want to give this restaurant a 4 or 5 but the service lacked today. My wife had called to confirm if we needed a reservation for two and she was told no and that they would ensure us we had a table. Once we got there; with our luck, the restaurant was full and we had to wait a few mins because their system was down. Which is understandable. As we wait, the couple after us had made reservations for 2 and their table was ready. First impressions matter to me and there is no reason for inconsistency when it comes to reservations. Finally, after a few more mins, they found us a table. Once we sat, and we ordered some water, they decided to moves us again to another table. Now im bothered but I didn't want that to ruin my night. The waitress took our order for drinks and food. The whisky sour was ok and our wait for food began. The couple next to us had their appetizers and main entrees served before we even got our appetizers. I understand it may have been busy, but everyone around was getting there food quicker, lack of attention. We finally got our entrees and the dishes were ok. My duck was cooked perfectly but my wife's dish lacked some flavor. She had to be careful because the fish had fish bones and we had thought they had taken those out. As we waited for the food I noticed that the owner was walking around and greeting the customers and finding out how the food was. I believe that every owner should follow this man's footsteps because he was very attentive to all and I feel that he turned our experience around for the better. Once we finished, he asked us about the food and what brought us there. Conversation with him was great and easy. We mentioned to him that my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and he surprised us with a dessert and coffee. This dessert was incredible and his sweet gesture made the experience so much better. I hope to return one day and give them another chance. I have to give this place a 0.0 as I made a reservation a week in advance. I traveled quite far with guests. Only to find out from the very young and inexperienced staff that they do not have any inside dinning. So, what was the point of making reservations?Mind you the wind gusts were arround 30mph plus. So they asked if I would like outside dining while they're own umbrellas outside at the tables blew away with the wind. Especially booked it on my birthday. I had gone there years ago and it was good. I fealt as if I'd been blown off. Very,very unprofessional. So if you like driving long distances and being turned down after making reservations. This is the place for you. Totally mismanaged. So, sad. read more

We came here for a girl's brunch as there aren't many options in the area. It was just as we expected. Cute, cozy, and home. It was also nicely decorated for the holidays. I got the crab cake Benedict and also shared the steak and eggs with a friend. The Benedict was tasty and had a decent amount of crab. The steak wasn't what we expected. The menu said it was a skirt steak and when it came out it was a thin minute steak. It wasn't bad, but we would've skipped it had we known. Service was polite. Absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Every single time we're here we try something new & it's spot on. The scallops were the best I've ever had in my life, they melted in your mouth. The pork chop, to die for. Literally everything is top, top notch. Our server was so friendly & so cute we loved him!! We stayed late the first time we came here & we're the last table (we just got married the night before & we're still basking in our happiness) & he assured us so many time that we could stay as long as we wanted no rush at all. Close the doors or install magnetic screen doors for the kitchen staff if they want their kitchen door open while they are cooking. The Watershed landed on our radar after wine tasting nearby. For our group of 9 we were quickly seated on what appeared to be a somewhat busy Sunday evening. The menu here is simple but has something for everyone. Their offerings range from seafood to chicken to steak. To start we had a dozen oysters that were SO unbelievably fresh and juicy. For my entree I had the sea bass (a special) that was cooked perfectly and served with yummy cauliflower. The prices are what you'd expect. They have a solid beer list, as well, and those are priced fairly. They get a bunch of stars for accepting our 4 cards without issue! My family and I visited The Watershed on Easter weekend to celebrate my birthday. The place was packed!! Nonetheless, the owners and staff magically set a table, where there was, none for 8 people like it was some magic trick! They totally went above and beyond to make room for us even though they were swamped with a private 60th birthday celebration in their main dining area. The food was so on point and the chef is able to customize everything!!!! Truly a special place making you feel like you are in some small town from a Hallmark movie, without skipping on the flavors you would find in the big cities! Food was delicious and the waitress and staff were super attentive! Highly recommend. P.S. It's a bed and breakfast so they have a few rooms upstairs that you can stay at for a nice little trip! read more

A group of us ladies have been looking forward to having a birthday lunch tomorrow. Our reservation was made weeks ago, only to find out today that they have no record of it. The employee added insult to injury by commenting that we should be glad we are finding out now and not tomorrow when we would have shown up! When asked to speak to the manager, the manager was conveniently not there. Do better! They need to get with the times and use an updated reservation system. Me and my boyfriend always dine here for either breakfast or lunch this is our go to spot especially because I live in aquebogue! The seduce today was outrageous. We had seduced around 3pm ish and it took until 3:20 to get menus. Mind you we were starving. Then we had ordered also some bottomless mimosas. They then took another 20 mins to take our food order. Food came out at a good time & we were finally eating at 4:15ish. It's currently 4:30pm and the lady had not come around to get us more drinks or check up. Phenomenal food and service! This was our first time coming to the Watershed and we will definitely be coming back! Our whole party couldn't say enough good things about their meal from the appetizers to main course - the raw oysters were delicious and the crispy brussel sprouts were amazing - I could have eaten the whole bowl myself! The tomahawk steak, ny strip, lobster roll, red snapper, and branzino all got raving reviews as well. Lovely husband and I ventured out on this drizzly day to finally try this place thats been on our list for a while. Let me say...when we first walked in I was really hesitant. We came at 1pm on a Saturday and the restaurant (which doesn't have a sign of its own) was empty. We drove from Ridge though so we figured let's give it a shot. The table decor is beautiful and our server was really nice. SO GLAD WE STAYED! I ordered the crab cake Benedict and it's literally the best I've ever had. The hollandaise had the slightest hint of acid which I loved and the side salad served with it was so fresh and the mustardy vinaigrette was a delight. The egg was flawless. My husband got the waffle (yum!) which was light and fluffy and the Dominican breakfast which he really enjoyed. Also, I am a coffee snob, most places serve weak watered down coffee - not this place, it was nutty and strong and served in the cutest individual fresh press. Delightful! Also, the restaurant filled up within a few minutes of us getting our food. Suffice it to say, we will be back! read more

Located in the Bay breeze inn. The restaurant changed owners n food is amazing. They are understaffed, we were ignored for a while. I had to go fetch a server. My teen was getting hangry. They did apologize for the wait n gave us a free bottle Saratoga Spring water. That was a classic touch. Sea scallops were perfectly cooked, fried calamari could have been cooked a few minutes longer to be crispier, pork chops were great. The burger was amazing w fried onion rings on top adding a nice crunch texture to the bite and a spicy sauce. On Fridays they have live band in the back. It's upsetting to be charged $4.50 extra on the bill for paying by credit card. Is this new? It wasn't written anywhere in the menu about up-charge as "check out charge" it's the 1st time I've seen this. I guess since we got a free bottle of water, it kinda washes out~~~ read more

This is a fantastic little spot definitely way off the beaten path! A classy setting with a low-key vibe that offers outdoor and indoor seating. It's never been packed here, probably because not too many people know about it. We've eaten outdoors several times but just tried their indoor seating last night. It was a nice touch with the small pumpkin decorations on each table, and the fireplace roaring in the front room. They have a creative menu with lots of neat specials! My only hope is that they might expand the menu a little more or change it up based on the seasons and what's local for those of us who come often. We had the pleasure of working with the server Joe last night for dinner and it was the best experience we've had there. He was friendly, down-to-earth, and made us feel comfortable asking various questions about the ingredients in certain dishes (especially important for me, a super-picky eater!). He was approachable and attentive. We had the fried calamari appetizer and duck empanadas (a special) and both were out of this world! The calamari was nice and light, and the duck had a sweet taste to it (possibly tamarind). Spouse had the fish special and I had the lobster roll. Everything was excellent and we felt well-taken-care-of throughout our meal. We of course will be back and definitely recommend other check it out too! This restaurant has become our families favorite weekend spot! It's by the water tucked away in Jamesport. The food is beyond amazing, with so much flavor in each bite. The brunch menu is thoughtfully designed and then you have the lunch menu which will blow your mind. We never ordered anything that didn't become our new favorite item. But one of the most amazing, tasty, crunchy on the outside soft on inside truffle fries we've ever had and we've had a lot! The service is attentive but not in an overwhelming manner. The space is cozy. With toddlers and children it's easy to navigate but the one challenge is that it is not stroller friendly with infant babies and it makes it a little more challenging to place them somewhere other than in our arms. When it's not overly crowded the car seat can be easily placed but when it's packed because the space is smaller then we just had to hold our 5 month old in our laps which wasn't the worst thing. We still go most weekends because you just can't beat the service, food and drinks! We highly recommend this restaurant! You won't be disappointed! read more
