This is a great short golf course on the east side of the 5. Pros: very affordable tee times. For $32, you can do a full 18 which are great holes to practice your short game but has plenty of options for long game practice. If you go to their twilight hours, it's $28 and even more affordable. They have a putting green and chipping green to help practice that before you begin. Parking is abundant and close by. You don't need a cart for this course and can walk pretty fast but carts are optional add ons. Cons: not much cons here as it was a great course! However, they do not have their own driving range. I went to the Del Mar range before to get a warm up. Verdict: if they had their own range, this would be five stars. A great affordable course where you can have loads of fun and practice your short game but have a chance to get your long game down too. I'd recommend coming here with friends and play a round at an affordable price! read more

This was by far the most poorly managed course I have ever played in my 30 years of golfing. The entire course is poorly managed. Greens are torn up and bumpy with indentations around the cup. They ran sprinklers while we were on the course and got all of our foursome wet while trying to tee off. Bathrooms were trashed and dirty. Their food and drink selections are bad. It seems no one on staff knows what they are doing. I am really surprised this place is still in business after what I experienced. This course is an embarrassment to the game of golf. read more

When my long-distance boyfriend visits, one of our favorite things to do is go golfing together--well, he golfs and I drive the cart! This was our second time at this course, and unfortunately, the experience this time was disappointing due to poor service. Throughout the day, the beverage cart attendant repeatedly drove past us with unfriendly looks, despite us being quiet, respectful, and just enjoying our time. Toward the end of our round, I politely asked if she could make a mixed drink for my boyfriend. Her response was a curt "no," paired with an unnecessarily rude glare. It felt totally uncalled for--especially since we watched her be friendly and accommodating to the group ahead of us. It left us feeling uncomfortable and frankly a bit disrespected. When you're paying for a tee time and treating staff with kindness, you expect at least basic courtesy in return. Disappointing, to say the least. read more

The holes on this executive course are perfect to master mid to short irons, and wedge play. There's also a couple Par 4 holes where you could pull a fairway wood, or maybe even a driver. I drove the green on a Par 4 that was 260 yards! The conditions here are always pretty good. The tee boxes are pretty well maintained, the fairways aren't damaged like some other courses, and greens roll nicely. Sometimes the play can be a bit slow, but I'm pretty patient when out enjoying a nice day. Some holes have a nice view of the course. If you're looking for an executive course, I'd definitely give this one a try! read more

Played for the first time 2 weeks ago and had a bad experience. Left Escondido at 6:15 for my 7:00 tee time. Plenty of time that early to get a few practice swings in. Unfortunately there was traffic from construction I was unaware of. I let my partner know who informed the employee and at 6:50 he let the 7:10 foursome head out in our place. I swiped my debt card at 7:03 and the employee asked, "what, am I supposed to just let you guys on anytime? You think you can just show up whenever you want and get on?" I thought he was joking so I cracked a smile but quickly realized he was serious. We didn't disrupt the flow at all. In fact the course in front of us was so crammed we waited on virtually every hole. Nothing was pushed behind us and business resumed as usual. It felt like the "peasants" from Escondido weren't welcome. Made a great first impression. The course was ok. Nothing to boast about. "Sand" traps were dirt traps which is usual on the executives around the county. The grass was tall and the tee boxes were absolutely butchered. I will say, for the price it makes sense. It wasn't expensive. Cheaper than Escondido's executive. Long story short, we don't feel welcomed back. There are plenty of other courses that appreciate business and welcome the poor folk from North County. read more

Fun course to go work on short game. Their players club is hard to beat. My gripe is with course condition, especially the tee boxes & bunkers. Tee boxes have a decent amount of grass but depending on the tee placement, you could be hitting off sand. The bunkers are truly awful even though they have a pile of sand off the 8th green. Would go a long way to rake and water their bunkers, but I've heard the greenskeeper is really lazy. read more

Changing my past review--happily happily surprised! I begrudgingly golfed once again at Lomas Santa Fe a week ago and was expecting to encounter a grump in the golf shop. If this were to happen again I planned to walk out as I should have done previously. HOWEVER the gentleman at the golf shop check in was very pleasant which made our golf experience SO much nicer! This course is beautiful, well maintained but very busy. All in all I will golf here again-kindness and respect go a long way for me. The staff set the tone and this young gentleman did a great job! Also when it came close to sunset he came around on a golf cart and specified the time we had to be in and asked us to finish out that hole. Very nicely done read more

Please renovate your teeboxes. Lopsided, covered in weeds and 9 different kinds of grass. Tee markers obviously left in the same place for so long there isn't any grass left to hit off of anymore; just dirt. For as much as this course charges conditions should be better. Overwatered, bunkers full of water on several holes. Greens are in good shape which is what saves this place from being 1 star. read more

The experiences I've had at this executive course have been horrible and I want to share this so that you absolutely do not make the mistake of giving this course a try. Extremely rude staff, without fail every single time playing here. Not to mention the course itself is unkempt, the tee boxes are reduced to dirt. Absolutely not worth the cost to play. But the staff is definitely the worst part. Checking in involves getting a bunch of attitude, especially if you are within the 10 minute mark of your tee time. This executive course needs better management. From manager Stephanie to the cashiers to the snack bar staff a little customer service could go a long way. The course itself is great for practicing your short irons; wedge thru 8 iron. There are two very short par 4s and a couple of par 3s that more than an 8 iron is required, for an average hitter. The condition of the course is average. The greens take a lot of hits, so they are pretty rough. The fairways are mediocre, but if you can hit a short iron you shouldn't see much of them. $26.00 is a steep price to pay for this course. Oaks North in Rancho Bernardo is a much better value; and much more challenging. read more

Recently went and was a little afraid of the staff because of all the reviews of them. However when I got there I immediately understood why. Everyone in the shop was very incompetent and mean to the workers. So when it was my turn in line, I made a little joke and he was very friendly and helpful. I understand that golf is very stressful and checking in is one of the worst parts, but that doesn't mean we should be rude to the workers. I feel they are very overworked and stressed, the human body can only take so much. Ultimately, I loved it start to finish and I truly believe the workers are very nice. read more

Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course - 18th hole - Golf Near Me - Solana Beach, California

Executive courses get a bad rap among golfers, and I don't really understand why. Sure, this course has 16 par-3s and two par-4s -- only one of which you can really use a driver -- but that shouldn't be a reason to discount it. You can bring four clubs and have a perfectly nice little round of golf while working on your short game. So, Lomas Santa Fe Executive Golf Course. Not to be confused with the Country Club next door. Pros: The course is almost always in pretty great condition. There can be some dry spots here and there, but for the most part this is one of the more well-manicured public courses in SD County. Good mix of challenging holes considering the short distances. There are a lots of uphill and downhill shots where you can reach the green, so it's not like you're playing mini golf or anything like that. You still have to strike the ball well off the tee. Hole 5 is a mean son of a bitch for how short it is, as just one example. The carts are in great shape, as is the putting green for warming up before your round. Decent food service area with a pretty killer hot dog for a golf course. Cons: Playing this course in twilight is going to yield a pretty ho-hum experience compared to other courses in the area. For one, I've never seen a cart girl out there even though I know one exists during the day. Also the staff is super primed about getting out of there as early as possible, so if you ride in a cart they are going to make you come back before dark. This course can be absurdly expensive if you don't join the players club, and even if you do the club has little to no perks compared to similar memberships with other courses in SD County. You basically join the PC if you plan on playing this course more than once a month, and you don't even entertain the thought otherwise. Finally, there is no driving range, which isn't too much of a bad thing but again it makes the players club even less attractive to join. You pretty much have to just warm up with a few practice swings before the first tee and honor a breakfast ball all day. This will be neither a pro or con, but I feel compelled to share this story as it does a good job of highlighting the good and bad nature of the experience here. I hit a hole-in-one on this course in May 2021, and yes it was as thrilling as one could possibly imagine. Again, a par-3 course means you'll have plenty of chances and on a decent course to boot. Now I don't know if it was because of the pandemic or what, but nobody in any official capacity seemed to give a shit. I wasn't expecting anything in the way of freebies or anything, but their website and social media indicates that they've at least certified the hole-in-one previously with a certificate and photo documentation. I basically felt like an asshole for even bringing it up. Again, this doesn't detract from my own personal experience and I did everything myself to capture the moment. But it could have been an opportunity to feel endeared to the course and instead I had no problem leaving the course behind once summer sunlight started to wane. Lomas Santa Fe Executive Course is a good course overall, and I will look forward to playing it when the hours allow for it again, but I probably won't go out of my way to do so. It can be a very solid and enjoyable experience if you don't mind leaving most of your clubs at home. read more

It's old. The bathroom at the 9 is from caddy shack. It's literally from the 70's. I use my 9 95% off the course and driver once. You can be on and off under 2 hours. The folks who work here are awesome. People please don't come here. There's nothing for you to see here. This is the best executive in SD. And tip! read more

I have been coming regularly for several months now. Customer service has improved GREATLY! The course is always in great condition. There have been some minor staffing issues (hard to get kids to take jobs these days), so the snack area is occasionally closed during normal hours. It would be nice if during summer months/weekends if they could utilize the beverage cart more. Or, there is a great little spot by the 8th hole (near the restroom) where they could put a little stand on busy days to sell food and beverages. I think they would generate good revenue. For a par 3 course, I enjoy it. Greens are ALWAYS the best part. read more

VERY Rude! Not acceptable. We are three adults and two girls(8 and 10). The two kids have learned golf for several years and play golf very well. We made reservation for 4. Two kids will play with two adult friends, the dad of two girls will just watch, because he has to be there with them. We did this all the time at other golf courses. But they just didn't allow the dad to be there. Very Rude! In the end we paid for 5 people. One adult friend played with two kids, dad was there doing nothing, just watching the two kids. Nice little executive course near Solana Beach with a basic offering of par 3s with a couple of par 4s. I've played a few other executive courses around SD and I can't say there's anything remarkable about this one unfortuantely. It's relatively inexpensive for a round and you can get through it in well under 4 hours, maybe even 3 if there's not too many people on the course. The layout is okay with more trees than other executive courses, but they rarely come into play since almost every hole is ~100 yards. There are a lot of traps, with many placed between the tee box and the green, making it likely you'll hit a few. The smaller green size in combination with the trap locations makes it a good place to practive ~10-20 yard chip and sand shots. One downside is the amount of divots and ball marks due to the short holes. They rarely come into play and the tee rotation seems to keep the boxes in decent shape, but they're almost everywhere. Also only 18 hole rounds are offered and not 9, which is good to keep in mind when making a tee time. The combination of pricing and berevity of the course make it ideal for a weekend morning round and short game tuning. read more

We hit a golf ball at the group in front of us during a scramble on accident and while we went to apologize the Marshall yelled at us for driving backwards after apologizing.. We played on pace, and respectfully. Sure we brought 1-5 beers without paying but we gave them $400 and $100 in beers and they still made sure my friend have a bad time on his birthday. Don't give this course money unless it's 6 Am. The Marshall has no friends and his wife hates him. read more

This is my favorite Executive course in San Diego... I love the shorter holes, and that it is consistently well maintained. I have been golfing once a month for the last 5 years or so, and so I guess I'm considered a "beginner". I walked 18 holes this weekend and was, as usual, quite happy with the course.
