When Lomeli Roofing was working on my neighbor's roof I called the number on the truck to request a quote. Ruben came over and looked at my roof. After looking at the roof he told me that they could repair a deck which my father had built on the roof and which others had advised me to eliminate. The quote was slightly higher than prior quotes I received but was definitely worth the difference because of the extra work they completed. It was a steep roof so, as expected, the whole job took 2 weeks. Dana and other staff members were great about painting a section of the house my dad had missed a decade earlier and removing the unused satellite dish and cabels from the exterior of the house. My aging father built his house decades ago and has been reluctant to let anyone else work on them. But he was ultimately very happy with the job completed by Lomeli Roofing. This is the first time my father was happy with the work I hired someone else to do on his home! I only regret that they can't work on the roof of my dad's Tehachapi house. We were in need of a roofer, and we're referred to Reuben at Lomeli roofing by a long time contractor friend. He came out at the scheduled time and did an assessment, listened to our concerns, then sent us a proposal to replace the leaking worn out roof. I had Ruben tear off and redo my flat roof on my Spanish house and do a new layer over the garage. He also repaired damaged wood and installed gutters on one side of the structure. I can't say enough good things about him and his team. They were reliable, did good quality work, were easy to work with and he also didn't up-charge - even when we discovered more damaged wood than we had anticipated or when we discovered that 2 skylights I had were bad and they needed to be replaced. We had our roof re-done, and Ruben and his team did a great job in a short time (4-5 days). When the weather suddenly turned to "chance of rain" mid-job, they stopped by on the weekend to make sure we wouldn't suffer leaks. The crew was professional and cleaned up the property nicely. They also helped us patch up some holes to the attic where rodents were getting in. We don't have AC, and Ruben said the new roof would help with the temperature in our home, and it really has. This review is an update to my original review of Lomeli Roofing in March of 2013. I'm going to call this review "Rain Drops Are NOT Falling on My Head". As the Operations Director for a Los Angeles communications company, I appreciate when a vendor goes beyond expectations! Lomeli Roofing is such a company. Our organization has a 12,000s.f. facility some of which dates back to 1931. In 2013 we reroofed nearly 90% of the original roof with the remaining 10% requiring minor repairs because it was a much newer roof system. Luckily I did have other contractors lined up that day and "John Day Contractor" showed up and "BC Construction" they're both pretty good. I am very happy I used Lomeli Roofing to replace my old wood shake roof that was built on top of a old shingle roof for my 1550 sf home. Ruben was great. While his bid was mid range between 3 highly rated companies, I chose Lomeli after meeting Ruben, as I felt a level of trust, and he was highly responsive to my many questions. I chose a charcoal high definition for pitched roof, and white cool roof for flat part in the back of the house. I feel lucky to have found Lomeli Roofing. (And yes, I found the company through Yelp. Yay, Yelp.) Ruben Lomeli was upfront about everything in the process, from the initial estimate to final cleanup. We needed a flat, rolled composition roof replacement (Most of the roof area is comp, the other section, a pitched tile roof, did not need replacing.) The job took two days, exactly what Ruben said it would. His crews arrived on time both days--a little early, actually. They had a big job, too--we had FIVE layers of composition roof needing removal, which I learned is actually two layers more than the legal limit. (Translation: rather than remove and install a new roof, the previous owners simply kept adding layer after layer. Once you're past three layers, you're breaking L.A. city building codes, due to the increasing weight, a real dangerous gamble.) At first I was concerned about how much water-damaged wood (from rain leakage) beneath the comp rolls would have to be replaced. But Ruben's bid included all labor on lumber replacement. The lumber itself is very inexpensive. I already knew there was some bad wood up there, but didn't know how much. True to Ruben's ballpark guess, the final additional lumber expense was a little over $100. No big. I had four estimates before I chose Lomeli, but it was a no-brainer--Ruben's was by far the lowest bid. So low, in fact, that I wondered if there was something fishy about it. But I did my research and the materials and processes Lomeli Roofing used were exactly what the others were promising with their bids. One estimate was upwards of $16,000--more than THREE TIMES Ruben's bid. The final Lomeli bill, including wood and city permit, was three grand less than the next lowest bid. I can't say he'll beat others' bids so dramatically, but he was way beyond competitive. Happy ending all around. Ruben was an absolute pleasure to deal with, the finished work looks good, his crews were very efficient and the overall experience was a very positive one. I asked to schedule an appointment for an estimate, My request was quickly shut down with a flat out "NO im too busy" your lack of customer service skills is appalling. Unless you were perched on top of a roof hot mopping that thing there is no reason for you to threat potential clients this way. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Good day. read more

Disappointed. These guys may have been good at fixing a roof but the mess they left for me to clean up was unacceptable. They did not cover the side patio where my plants and lounging area are and I spent the entire day picking out pieces of roof, tar, nails, and debris from all my plants and sweeping the window sills etc. They left a large extension cord plugged in to my Ext wall just sprawled all over the lawn, when I went to pick it up it had wet tar all over it and that was quite a drag to clean off my hands! They were here for a week and on day one moved my satellite dish making it so I had no TV for the entire week and when we repeatedly asked them to put it back how they found it they didn't and now I have to wait a few more days to pay my cable man to come fix it. They were above my bedroom each morning at 7:45 banging away and when we asked if they could start on any other part of the house first rather than the bedroom they said sure but continued to bang in same spot each day. Just overall disappointing experience. I should NOT have to clean up after them period! read more

I just called to get some information about an apartment building that the company I work for owns and whoever answered the phone was rude and abrupt. If someone is rude right from the initial inquiry, I couldn't even begin to conceive how business would be after that. The company I work for owns a lot of buildings in the LA area, that need a lot of work, with a little better customer service and tact, these roofing contractors had the potential to make good costumers out of us. This review is for Lomeli Roofing for a job they completed in Santa Monica around October 31, 2015. Since that date I have not had any contact with Ruben or his company or any of his employees, nor did I know them prior to that project. I am writing this review because I saw all of the recent negative reviews due mainly to poor experiences with people trying to contact the company. These reviews are quite different from my experience with Lomeli in 2015. In summary, Ruben and his company did an excellent job during all of the phases of the work. They were very responsive during the early contact through the quotation phase. They did excellent work on the project itself, which consisted of completely replacing two different roofs on the same house. One of the roofs was from the original house built in 1938 and the other roof that was put on to a room addition at the back of the house sometime in the 1960's. They left the house, the roofs and the area around the house in immaculate condition when they completed the work at the end of October 2015. However, the real proof of their quality workmanship came after the 2016-17 rainy season "deluge." There was not a single detectable leak anywhere within the house during any part of this past rainy season. Both roofs performed flawlessly. Nor have any leaks been seen since the end of this past season. I would definitely use Lomeli again for a roofing job. read more

We used Lomeli roofing when we were living in the Palisades. It was an unusually wet winter, and upon returning home from a trip to the UK we found that our roof was leaking (not fun) in our bedroom! I called Lomeli Roofing and they sent someone out almost immediately, even though they already had a busy schedule (we weren't the only ones whose roof couldn't withstand the unseasonable weather). Unfortunately because of the winds, they couldn't fix the roof initially, so they went and put a tarp down to prevent any further leaking. They returned a few days later, once the rain had subsided, to fix everything. They gave us a reasonable quote and only fixed the portions of the roof that were necessary, which we really appreciated. They even took pictures to show us what the problem was (as we couldn't get up there ourselves). They were honest and straightforward and I would highly recommend them! read more

Initially I was imPressed with Lomeli roofing because they found and fixed a problem that Had existed intermittently for several years. I then hired them to fix the whole roof and in one area subsequently developed a leak. He did fix it finally. I had also had him do a Spanish tile roof that initially look so sloppy with globs of cement coming out of everywhere, Ruben said "oh that's the country style look." But when he came out to actually look at it he agreed it was terribly done. They improved the look but now about 10 years later the tiles are sliding off the roof. I had a roofer assess it and he said they did not use any nails and he was surprised I don't have a leak with all the rain we've had. I would contact Ruben but I don't even want him to fix it after the quality of work he's done on two of my roovrs, I'd rather forgo that. read more

I found Lomeli Roofing on Yelp with a 5 star ratings. I was a bit weary because some negative comments are never posted. So I got a second bid. Lomeli's bid was higher but what I liked about Rubin (the owner) he was hands on. He wrote the estimate and answered all of my concerns. After we agreed on the price Rubin set the date start to finish and keep to that schedule. And the cost was what he bid plus the permit fee. And left the property clean. I checked his license, bond and workman's comp (very important) all up to date. What more can one ask for? read more

I hired Ruben & Lomeli Roofing to replace the pitched roof on my 1936 four-plex in South Carthay. Everything went as smoothly as imaginable for such a big job. Ruben was accessible and responsive during the bidding process. He answered calls and querries rights away, which is one of the reasons he got the job. Hs experience was also really helpful when deciding on which materials to use and in obtaining the proper permits. My building is in an HPOZ so Ruben & I had to coordinate permitting with both building and safety, and the HPOZ office in city hall. All went well. The roofing job itself also went well. The crew was courteous and neat. We have yet to experience our first rains since the new roof went on, so I can't yet boast about it being waterproof, but it looks beautiful ! read more

Ruben just finished putting a new roof on my mother-in-laws house. The job included adding some rigid foam insulation above two bedrooms that has only a wood ceilings with no attic or insulation at all. He installed some skylights, that I supplied, to the patio and porch roofs as well to brighten up the interior of the house. He replaced a lot of wood that had dry rot- the result of waiting too long to do the re-roofing. All in all Ruben and his crew did a great job. Five years ago Ruben replaced the 28 year old roof on my home. The complication to that job was having to move my solar hot water panels out of the way to re-do the roof under the panels. His crew moved the assembly of three 3' x 8' panels and put them back after the roof was finished - quite an extra chore. 5+ years and no leaks. They had to replace LOTS of rotting fascia boards, re-do skylights that had been installed incorrectly, and dig out tons of overgrown ivy. I wish I didn't have to give them any star. It was night mare I want to forget. Lousy job, unprofessional, unfinished job, it took them long time to correct their mistake. Rude and talk to me like I'm just old women and know nothing and should stay quiet. Came to work dress and act like gang members or people on drugs, but I paid them and I had no choice. They had to come back many times to correct their job. They were threatening me because they wanted to get paid in full before finishing the job and correct their errors. As soon as I paid full payment, in a few hours laterI was getting threatening emails and phone call that they will place lines on they house, this and that. I had to call my lawyer for them stop and retract what they were writing and calling. They forgot county has laws and orders especially for this kind of people. read more
