Dr. Lomis truly saved my mother's life. From beginning to end, our experience was exceptional. He has an outstanding bedside manner--calm, reassuring, and even brings a great sense of humor when it's needed most. With over 30 years of experience, we felt completely confident in his care. He scheduled my mom's lumpectomy immediately after her PET scan results, and he remained communicative and transparent every step of the way. After surgery, he personally came to the waiting room to let us know everything had gone perfectly and that he was able to successfully remove all of the cancer while saving her breast. I'd initially been referred to Dr. Lomis for my breast cancer lumpectomy surgery. There was another surgeon closer to home, but had terrible reviews, so I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Lomis. I'm SO glad that I did not cancel my other consultation because my appt with Dr. Lomis was the most uncomfortable, unprofessional appt I've ever had! The nurse, Liz, was absolutely wonderful. She talked me through all the ins and outs of the procedure and gave me great confidence. Then she stepped out to get Dr. Lomis to come in. Not too long later, 2 men walked in. Neither introduced themselves. One ended up being Dr. Lomis. The other, who looked too old to still be practicing medicine, was awkwardly lingering. I had no idea who he was or why he was there. If he weren't so old, I'd have thought he was a student there observing. Dr. Lomis asked what I was there for and how old I was. I mentioned lumpectomy surgery, and told him I was 43. He then said that he thought I was much younger and would have guessed 15! WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF??? If that was supposed to be a compliment, he had 26 numbers to guess that were legal adult ages and only 17 that were NOT. He went the latter route and it instantly creeped me out. The nurse, Liz, then ran in, profusely apologizing for the mix up and that they were in the wrong room. Apparently Dr. Lomis was supposed to be going to see another patient with the other Dr. After they left, Liz again said how awkward that was and apologized again and asked if I had any questions before I left. I wanted to know if I was actually going to talk to Dr. Lomis about my surgery. She said she could send him back in, as if that wasn't the original plan. Again... WHAT??? When he finally came back in, he basically said that I was in good hands and that he'd have the office call and schedule my surgery date soon. He said this while awkwardly and inappropriately resting his hand on my shoulder (as I'm laying there with a front-opening scrub top on) then patting my hands, which were clasped on my stomach. He NEVER discussed my actual surgery or seemed to know anything about my diagnosis or medical records. I left having ZERO confidence in this man. I don't care if he's the absolute best as what he does. I can't, in good conscience, let someone cut me open who came across as THAT unprofessional and THAT inappropriate, and made me feel 100% uncomfortable. FIFTEEN??? Why in the flaming dumpster-fire of a world would THAT be the number he throws out to guess the age of a breast cancer patient??? I'm still beside myself a month later. I informed the office a few days later that I would be having surgery elsewhere and they completely understood. read more

I am leaving this review a few hours after my surgery, and i couldn't be more grateful. Thank you so much Dr. Lomis, for saving my life, removing my breast cancer, and taking great care of me. So initially when i saw the reviews, i was extremely hesitant. however i noticed most of it was towards the office and not the doctor so i decided to go through and have my own experience and im so happy i did. Yes, the office is extremely packed and long wait times, however that shouldn't be used against the staff since they are overworked and trying their best. Everyone i interacted with was very friendly and informative. they answered all my question, they took the time to explain everything. Sometimes i had issues reaching them through the phone, however after a few tries i did get to them. After i was diagnosed, Dr. Lomis office was fairly quick to onboard me and get me in, tell me my options, inform me of everything and quickly scheduled my surgery. the day of surgery (today) ran SO smoothly and i am so grateful!! i was very anxious the entire time, jittery, scared, you know all the emotions before surgery, especially a surgery for cancer, however the nurses were the best. they continued to comfort me, make me laugh and keep me company. Dr Thomas had a gentle hand, i am a few hours out and already my pain is minimal. he explained everything before the surgery and after the surgery. He had a smile the whole time and friendly. again this was my experience and i'm so grateful for not letting the reviews deter me, im thankful. Also for time reference, i was diagnosed in july and had my surgery in first week of september. so in 2 months they ran all my tests, biopsies, MRI and my surgery. so though the wait times may be long, they move quick! read more

I would like to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional care and skill Dr. Sokolich demonstrated during my recent surgery. In March, 2025, I was diagnosed with a liver tumor that was the size of a big apple. Likely, one of my friends recommended that I see Dr. Sokolich for a consultation. As soon as Dr. Sokolich saw me, he immediately reacted and surgery was scheduled right away. I would like to recognize that his expertise and dedication have saved my life and made a profound difference in the success of the procedure and in my recovery. Dr. Sokolich successfully removed a half of my liver with negative margins that made me free of cancer the next moment right after surgery was completed. I am so happy to realize that even chemotherapy was not needed. With some other doctors, I would need to follow the protocol of the cancer treatment that involves radiation and chemotherapy first to shrink the tumor, then possibly have surgery. Though some time has passed, my appreciation remains as strong as ever. Dr. Sokolich is a miracle addition to Valley Presbyterian Hospital. I strongly believe that the SFV / LA community needs to know about Dr. Sokolich expertise in multi-organ abdominal transplant and hepatobiliary/ pancreas surgeries. He performs complex hepatobiliary cases that have never been performed in the state before. read more

I am not one to put any negativity out there, but this agency continues to harass me on a weekly basis for a $350 bill, which is ridiculous to me. I get that everybody wants their money, but have some patience and some common decency. When I got the appointment done, everybody was wonderful to me and I couldn't be more appreciative of the customer service at the time and especially them confirming that Kaiser was the one that was going to take care of everything. I had spoken with three representatives prior and confirmed this additionally. I end up getting a collections notice and on top of that being handled with the worst customer service by Karla. Please find people who are transparent across the process for your consumers. If you believe in continuity of care, you would look into the comprehensive care of all of your employees. read more

I never had the chance to meet Dr. Lomis Thomas . I was under the care of DR. Rohan Kambeyanda. I am guessing that the poor reviews here do not account for the whole team, because there are truly no words to describe how thankful I am to have been fortunate enough to have experienced the care I did with Dr. Rohan. K. I honestly came Into this not expecting much given the poor reviews and being covered by Medi-CAL. But turns out, I don't know if it was whether I was just lucky or been blessed. From the moment of my first consultation to my recovery from surgery it has been nothing but a smooth and solid transition. The office team in van nuys was always respectful when I called and inquired, and even though I knew they were always busy, they always answered my questions thoroughly and patiently. When I first met Dr. Rohan I was under the impression that my case was given to him because he was probably still new , given that he looked so young. But I felt assured and even more confident after speaking to him, because he was knowledgeable and was on point with describing everything I would expect from the upcoming months to surgery date. And sure enough everything he spoke to me about what to expect and what would be done to recovery all happened as he described. He never left anything off: the only thing that may have been a bit of an inconvenience were my prescription not being filled in time by CVS ( which is mainly the responsibility of the pharmacy) and has nothing to do with the Doctor. But still Dr. Rohan actually stepped in and called the Pharmacy to clarify a few things with them and they finally agreed to fill it. I've known and been aware for a long time that state aid run medical services are less than superb in these trying times for everyone, but I really wonder whether it's MDs like DR ROHAN who's really making a difference or is it just that I happened to be lucky and blessed to have run into him. By the way I saw the results for the first time, ( I had breast implants removed after 15 years via umbillical route ). Aware that this surgery was only for removal and no breast lift was done but wow, I looked at them and I really really am pleasantly pleased. There's just no words to describe. I don't know how to thank this DR. But I just wanted to say from the bottom of my heart to whole medical team and DR that you've really changed my mind on how care is done even under state Aid. WARNING: Do not trust Thomas Lomis. (Read full review). I recently had an appointment in this doctor office for abdominal/groin pain. Every single interaction with this office was made to be unnecessarily difficult. I shared medical records with the doctor indicating a likely diagnosis or cause of my symptoms. Ultimately this office did absolutely nothing to diagnose, treat nor help me. I had had an authorization for a follow-up appointment there, and the secretary herself was talking to me on the phone about my records and my medical condition, information she should not have, know, or discuss. She told me she thought the doctor didn't need to see me again. I told her I wanted to speak to the doctor. She put me on hold and when she returned she told me the doctor didn't want/need to talk to me again and refused to talk to me on the phone. All of this despite me having authorization for another appointment. If you ever get a referral to be seen there, call your insurance and have them redirect it elsewhere. Trust me you don't want to waste your time being seen by Lomis nor that office in general. read more

This office is beyond ridiculous and RUDE. they gave me an appointment for 11:15 and i waited almost TWO HOURS TO BE SEEN. I arrived to my appointment on time , filled out my paper work and I was extremely polite as one should be. But no, doesn't surprise me that all the girls in here are rude and mean and are zero help. They obviously hate their jobs. They clearly don't care for their patients and they make rude comments under their breathe. I asked for a time of how much longer till I'm seen bc it's been an hour and a half and one girl with crazy attitude as she walks away says "she should just reschedule then!!" (Her name was Maria) Excuse me???? I came from work and I need to let them know when I'll be back. This office is truly terrible and a waste of time. I asked prior to my appointment how long I'd be there and she said one hour. Now going on 3? And there's no supervisor to speak too? Pathetic. Don't waste your time if your doctor refers you here. I normally do not leave a review unless i have a really good experience or really a bad experience. I wasted my time and efforts because of the staff who works at the office. The staff who makes surgery schedule is not very efficient. I could have my surgery done if she knew what she's doing. Because of her, i wasted my time (trip to office), money (gas and parking fee), and waiting time from June 29 until today, July 17. Plus, i have to put more time and effort into finding a different doctor. That is another waste of time. If you don't have extra time and effort to put up with their bullshits, think again. One employee can make an entire business look bad and also give a bad experience to the patients or customers. I hope they do have a job orientation or class to fix the issue. read more

its kinda of a cluster fk the way they run the office. the surgery day was awful too. although, its been a year now. he took my breast tumor out and so far im good. i had looked at other lumpectomys and was excepting my breast to look deformed or have a dent in it. you cant even tell he took a 1 inch in diameter tumor out and my lymphnodes under my armpit were removed since he found cancer in them too during my surgery. if you can put up w/the waiting game. he did good job on me. im happy to wear my bikini tops again. read more

I had gotten a miss call from his office, when they left a voicemail, they didnt left a name on who in the office left a message (which I dnt care). Once I called back n who ever picked up the phone was so rude, she wanted to get the bottom of it on who left that message with no name. ONCE AGAIN I DNT CARE I JUST WANT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. But she was to busy asking around in the office on who left that message with no name, instead of giving me an appointment. Took her 8 min to give me appointment. My first and last time seeing this doctor (although I was never even technically seen by Dr. Lomis). I literally waited 35 minutes past my supposed appointment and asked when I'll be seen and why the wait. The secretary, after she decided talk time with the other girls in the office was through, came over and said sorry, but the doctor is running behind. At 50 minutes past my appointment I asked again, and she stated that we'll be with you soon, the doctor is running behind. At 1 hour and 20 minutes past the appointment, I asked her to return my paperwork back to me, and explained that I'll be seeing a different doctor, and she refused to return my paperwork with my social security number and other information on them. After I told her that I would be filing a grievance with my insurance provider, she gave them back to me (I still filed a grievance). The whole experience was a waste of time and to make matters even worse, a guy came in apologizing that even though he missed his appointment by "accidentally" going to the wrong address, they took him in ahead of me anyway, even though I'd been wanting for about an hour at that point. And as it was nearing their closing time I could already see that once I was eventually called in, Lomis would have most likely rushed my appointment so that he could leave. So if you value your time and appreciate quality medical service, book your appointment, elsewhere. There are plenty of doctors out there who know how to run a medical practice; Lomis is not one of them. read more

This place is a joke. The girls are friendly enough, but it's downhill from there. I scheduled in November 2021 thinking I'm going to see Dr.Loomis about a scalp mass. The office calls me to confirm the appointment, but tells me I'm going to see Dr. Bae. I go to my appointment with Dr. Bae only to have him tell me that even though he is a general surgeon, he does not deal with scalp masses. He tells me that they are going to call me back with an appointment with a different surgeon in the same office. Two weeks later I call the office and was told that I would be seen by Dr. Rustin. I get to my appointment with Dr.Rustin only to be told that he is tied up in surgery and will be seen by Dr. Gohil. I get in with Dr. Gohil and instead of focusing on what I'm there to see him about, he starts obsessing with a shunt that I had placed in my head 50 years ago and is not giving me problems. I was then referred to a plastic surgeon saying that additional surgery would be required to close the incision. After about 2vmonth of waiting Dr. Loomis office tells me that I would be better off having my surgery at County USC. Aside from that the plastic surgeon told me that he wasn't sure if Valley Presbyterian can handle my surgery. Needless to say I have found a surgeon who cares about me and not about using me as a guinea pig. I wish I could give negative stars. read more

The worse customer service I have ever experience in my life, I will never recommend this place for a treatment of any kind, although the doctors seems to have excellent qualifications and reviews, the stuff needs to be complete replaced and better managed. They barely answer their phone and when they do, there is a minimum 30 min hold, if you're lucky to get an answer, they most likely will not follow through on their end, Travis, Carol and a couple other stuff will careless about your illness. read more

This is the worst run doctor's office I've ever experienced. I am not speaking to the actual surgery which was fine. However, when I went back to my 2 week after surgery check, I found the same situation as my 1st visit which is a packed waiting room and chairs lining the hall to accommodate more waiting patients. Here's the thing I found out after a few well placed questions. It's always like that. They book so many patients and it's always a ridiculous wait. I went to Dr Lomis because I have a lump in my breast after him looking at me dead in the eyes and saying I don't have cancer, he denied my insurance. Two days later I find out from olive view that not only do I have cancer, but its also in my lymph nodes. This Dr is a joke! read more

This has been the worse experience I've had in a dr. Office. First , waited for over 40 minutes to been seen by a different dr we schedule the appointment with originally. He never really introduced himself, rude and disrespectful. Full of himself. Never even made any type of eye contact and the first and only question he had for us was "what's the problem here", mind you that this was a scheduled pre surgery consultation and he had the file in his hand. No room for questions or explanations. Made me feel like I was in an assembly line. He spend at the most 2 minutes with us and totally dismiss all of my questions and concerns, he just walked out on us saying that surgery is needed and to wait for insurance approval. Also, to add insult to injury, he pretended to speak Spanish which he did not, I was speaking to him in English but he continue I. Spanish and thats when he just walked out of the room. I'm sure this was also a violation of our civil rights as his command of the language is useless and I wander how many patients have been misinform by him and his attempts to pretend to speak Spanish. read more

I'm in my 40s, and I had the first surgery of my life with him (ventral hernia repair with mesh). He was a great combination of business-like demeanor mixed with concern and caring. I felt I was in very good hands the entire time. He was thorough and did great work. But the main thing is: I'm all better now! There is no greater recommendation that that, IMO. read more

Dr. Lomis did an inguinal hernia surgery on me one year ago and I'm still in pain. After telling me that 1 in 25 surgeries end up with problems (too high of a number for me) and 4 follow-up visits, Dr. Lomis had little to say except an insincere, "..sorry you're in pain". His solution to my pain was to just cut the nerve. Not my idea of a solution! I advise anyone needing surgery to NOT consider Dr. Lomis. His attention is not on his patients and he has little sympathy for the pain he inflicts. Hopefully, I can find a good surgeon that can fix this mess! read more

In 2004 my husband had a surgery with "Dr Lomis", for an appendicitis. How to start, my husband arrived at the hospital at 5 in the morning and the doctor had him until 10pm before doing any procedure, with antibiotics and pain killers. Lomis said I will do the surgery tomorrow. I begged him and he did it that night, with the worst attitude and attention. My husband did not have insurance at that time because he was never sick and we were newly weds. My husband spent a week in the hospital for a routine surgery because he was yellow, due to the infection by his lack of Attention. I never talked during that time with him, because he never but NEVER returned my calls at the hospital, but on visits to patients at 5pm. My husband was under Morphine and that was his solution, and since my husband has sleeping problems his blood pressure went down, and his breathing was going to 0, until I asked LOMIS (bad doctor) to stop with morphine and he did it. At that time I did not understand how the medical system was in America, but having some great doctors had showed me that he is not only the WORST but a threat to health, and humanity. Mr Lomis I hope you lose your license. Finally when my husband was healing I had to cure the wound and it got infected because I was doing it the wrong way, as he never explained. Dr Lomis's surgery is bustling and busy and wonderful. Theres a real family atmosphere among the staff. James is brilliant, and Dr Lomis himself is amazing. Nobody wants to get breast cancer, but if you do, this is a great place to go. Saved my life. read more

I have had my fair share of health issues, have seen a lot of doctors, and Dr. Lomis is one of the most conscientious and straight forward doctors I've had the pleasure of meeting. I came in with a breast augmentation complication that I was told (by my surgeon) could be cancer. Of course, I was a complete wreck and went to see Dr Lomis due to his proximity and affordable rates. He assured me he didn't think my issue was malignant, but that he wanted me to get an MRI done to investigate it a little more. He directed me to a very low cost MRI provider and within 5 days I had complete results showing my issue was benign. He even directed me to a plastic surgeon who could help with my complication. His whole staff, James in particular, was so caring and put up with all my craziness. I would refer anyone with a breast concern to Dr. Lomis in a heart beat. read more
