Awesome store. Love it. The hay smells AMAZING, people are friendly and prices for hay and food are a no brainer, compared to the regular two suspects pet shops.

I have been ordering from Lomita feed for many years. I recently had to start ordering their alfalfa diamond which is soft and green. Everyone at the store are all very helpful

This place use to be a good spot and good prices, i went i to get a tube of NuStock, i have purchased it there several times. Why do they need to double the price when you can get this on line anyplace even Amazon for 22 dollars so why were they trying to charge me 36 plus tax !!!! Price check before you get gouged from this store.......

Came here to purchase some straw/hay for gardening purposes. After calling to inquire, I was quoted a price per bag rather than a bale. When I arrived, I found out the bag was the size of a kitchen trash can and not a huge lawn/leaf bag. So I decided on two bags. One of the other gentleman employees overheard and recommended a mulch bale instead, he said the can split it in half and bag them for $18 rather $22 and gave 4x more hay. I used to live two blocks from them and always love the small hometown feeling. The are a small business serving the South Bay for decades providing needs to the community at very reasonable prices and the staff is very friendly, that's why I chose them. read more

Great place for turtle Hay. You don't have to buy the big bales. My tortoise is like 200 and some pounds so it's expensive to buy hay at any Petco place . Here I can get a couple of pats that'll last him like a week so I buy a couple bags it'll last me a month and not have to buy 110 pound bale of hay. read more

As someone so against not looking like an idiot, walking into a place like Lomita Feed is pretty intimidating. It just looks like they know what they're doing. But when I need chicken feed or hay or a dopamine fix from looking at baby chickens, they're the first place I think of. I'm sure they would be happy to help me out and answer my questions, but I'm content with their greeting and "let me know if you need anything." That is, honestly, all I ever need. read more

The local feed needs are covered here, top quality hay options, excellent bagged feed and supplement choices too. Bill and his staff are truly integral to the local horse community, gotta love Javier and his delivery guys making it happen for us every week! I'm giving them 5 stars because I am grateful for and enjoy having this type of business local to me. I prefer patronizing small businesses like this, over corporate chains. It's a very quaint store in a cute area. Parking isn't usually too difficult. Love their resident birds and occasional chicks. The prices have gone up a bit over the last little while, but that's everywhere. The customer service runs hot and cold if you aren't a PV/Rolling Hills horse person. Sometimes they're super personable and other times they'll barely speak to you. Like I said, I prefer this over the alternative and they aren't rude, just something to be aware of. read more

Best and probably only local feed store in the area. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. I get my dog food, chicken food and rabbit food from them. It's a family owned business and I always prefer to support the "little guy" over the big box stores. read more

Feed Tac Friendly help again now since I first loaded fresh alfalfa 1984... They are still where I tied up my ride on Narbonne Ave in Lomita... Love this place. I get feed and supplies for my goats. Always helpful. The owners and and employers remind me of midwest people. Low key, easy to talk to, helpful. They hire local kids. Takes a few minutes for them to load hay in my truck, but that's how it works.....it's not a fast food drive thru. read more

If I could give ''em ten stars I would. This place is wonderful and so are the cowboys and cowgirls that work here. If you can't find what you're looking for on the shelves, don't fret. Just ask one of the many employees if they can special order it for you and I guarantee they will. This place is a diamond in the rough. Don't let the size of the barn fool ya. What they lack in sq. ft., they make up for in BIG neighborly LOVE. This is a negative review for Lomita Feed and I'm surprised it has come to this because I like the owner and it seems like he must not know what his employees are up to. Delivery people are less than honest and when I filed a complaint the people in the office were combative and they accused us of having a subpar enclosure. I don't want to have to go through this again. read more

Have been going here since the 70's. They recently underwent a make over and huge clean up. Now they carry baby chicks for sale, and sell them in three's. Love the pine shavings for my coop, and treats. Great prices and service. Have helpful and people there to help load your car....please tip them. read more

I have to say, the people here are so very nice! I pulled up the first day with my car full of toys and wanting to rent 4 bales of hay. The guys to load my car were very nice and also super patient while I offloaded all of the toys. When it came time to return the hay, this time I had all of the supplies left over from my event. ‍ The owner Bill assisted me in removing my boxes and placing them in other spots in my car, and was in no way rushing me even though it was close to closing time. The cashier Tim was also super nice and friendly. I've never been here before this encounter but I will definitely be back because of their great customer service!!!! read more

I've been a customer here for like 3 years now but this tall young lady that works there should not be working at the front! She don't smile, say hi, thank you, nothing! She even try to charge me $129 for a 50lbs of lay mush at 50lbs scratch and yes she didn't say a thing she didn't apologize for trying to over charge me or at least tell me that she made a mistake! Their price is high compared online but i like to support local store. I will not be going back there. I'll just order online $20 for a 50lbs delivered to my door. read more

Their customer service is definitely not a good one. The owner of the shop and cashiers are always in a bad mood and extremely rude. Totally understandable if someone is having a bad day but it's definitely not a good look for their small store if they continuously take it out on their customers. If you can get by their nasty attitude it's an okay but overpriced store. Has a variety of products for horses but a small selection for small animals (birds, Dogs, etc. ) -A tip I would give to any future buyers would be to make sure that any animal feed is clear from any bugs or mold. read more

Check expiration dates on dog food bags and always sign up on dog food advisor website to get alerts on recalls. We recently bought bag of dog food noticed was leaking into back of car and small hole. Checked exp date expired. Later learned it was recalled by manufacturer for salmonella? I think. This was matched through lot number. Went to get replacement and they brought out bag with same recalled log number. Outside if this store is great. To be honest I'm not sure they are trained via lot numbers and exp dates and being sure to rotate bag so older ones well 1st etc. just a little education as I care about read more

The hay quality seems to have gone down recently. I'm not sure if they have a new supplier or if they're giving me a different cut but it's much softer and dustier. That's a minor annoyance, but more concerning is the seeming lack of concern for COVID precautions. The last two times I've gone, the store staff weren't wearing masks. If the warehouse staff, who are lugging around sacks of feed in the heat, can manage to wear masks then surely the staff in the air-conditioned store can. read more

I come here every couple of weeks to get hay. In fact Ive been coming here for several years now. Normally, Im in and out and happy with my purchase. This last time I asked if they could use a visa giftcard that I had. The girl asked her manager, a man in the back room, and he snapped at her. I was disgusted by the way that he treated that employee. If he is the owner I sincerely hope that he isn't such an a**hole all of the time. If he is just a manager then I hope someone takes note of this review and counsels him. I will be driving out to lakewood for my products now. It's October, pumpkin and fall décor season and straw demand is high. I called several places asking if they sell straw and it was either sold out or they don't carry any. So glad someone at Hobby Lobby told me to try Lomita Feed Store. I needed straw for my feral cat shelter and they had them in big bags for a great price. Staff were friendly, helpful, and the building had a nice historical flare. The building is 100 years old and I was told the Feed Store is of the same age too, very cool. If you need to build feral cat shelter to help your local kitties, this place has all the straw you need. read more

i went here one time to buy chicken feed and NEVER again. the girl at the counter was insanely rude and when i told her so the owner who i just saw in a commercial.... told me to f myself. he didnt have the guts to come to the other side of the counter to say it to my face which was smart on his part but they have zero customer service and i sincerely am sorry covid didnt crush his business. i sincerely hate these people and they are over priced. way better places in the area. read more

Doesn't listen to customer. They do not know how to solve customer problems. I understand that when you run a business, problems arise but it is all about how you solve them. They SUCK at it. read more

Wonderful local small business - I shop their for my rabbits feed and hay! Staff is helpful and prices are better than big box pet stores!
