Dear PetSmart Management, I am writing to report a deeply disturbing incident of animal cruelty that I witnessed at your Torrance location on Pacific Coast Highway. While I was at the store, an unleashed husky puppy ran up to greet me. Shortly after, a woman grabbed the puppy very aggressively by the scruff, causing it to cry out. Following this, the man she was with proceeded to choke the puppy and yell at it. When I confronted them and stated that their actions were wrong and that the authorities should be called, the man began yelling at me. This was a horrific experience, and I am incredibly shaken by what I saw. Grooming Salon: Thanks to Lori & Anastasia for working on my maltipoo Boba. I usually go to Petco for the convenience but my bf always complained my dog smelled, his hair cut wasn't good etc. I'm so ecstatic I saved a little money coming here & he was clean, cared for, he smelled great & his breath was fresh. The employee claimed that he did his best to cut his nails but couldn't due to the aggression, which has never been said about my dog. I'm assuming that person doesn't know how to handle dogs gently. I also paid extra for a specific shampoo and I can tell they didn't use it. When I went to go pick them up, the employees were cold to me and giving off a bad vibe. Took my 6mo old puppy to get his nails trimmed and filed. I informed the gentleman that once the instruments are in my hand he gets finicky but otherwise he's calm. They get him on the table and not long into the trimming he starts crying and trying to pull away. There was no time taken to get him calmed down, they just powered through it. He slipped the lead they had on him and bit at the instrument and they muzzled him. I get it but there was no time taken for him to relax and calm down. I've been here a few times to purchase stuff for my dog (yorkie poo). Today I called ahead of time to see what they had in stock for diarrhea. They instructed me to the right aisles to get the liquid medication they have, the pumpkin purée, and I even got some probiotic ice cream as an extra treat for him later on. This review is more so about the ease of the process facilitated by Petsmart for Zazzy cats rescue. We just adopted our second fur baby and he's absolutely been well socialized at his previous foster homes. He's a lap kitty that loves to cuddle and loves following his big sister our resident kitty. They let us really stay to get to bond with the kitties and all the volunteers were so helpful and nice. The store location was in a plaza with ample parking and clean. I made an appointment for my puppy to get a bath package. When I came to pick her up, Michelle the groomer, only did 1 of the total 8 things from the package. I paid for the whole package. She told me to come back another time for the other things she didn't do. What's weird is that she put a note about my puppy on the company website. It said "Do NOT Book." My search for food for Mr. Pickycat continues today. And baby, it's cold outside. No fun. Today was my first visit to this Petsmart. It's clean. Helpful employees. Big parking lot with multiple entrances/exits. Huge selection of dog & cat toys. They do carry Applaws brand cat food, but not the batch I was looking for. I noticed they hold cat adoptions & are looking for volunteers to help out. So, you can adopt a fur baby.....or you can have mine, free of charge. FYI, he meows & howls loudly during the night so don't plan on getting much sleep. And good luck feeding him - he likes the most expensive brands of food & when you stock up on his flavor of the month, he will stop eating it. He will try to sit on your computer keyboard because he wants your full attention, so you will need to Yelp when he's asleep. Did I mention he snores? Do not attempt to bring another animal into the house - he fights with any critter he sees, no matter how big. Assuming he's awake, do not try to go for a walk without him. He will destroy the house out of spite while you're gone. Weather permitting, he expects to be pushed around the neighborhood in his pet stroller, during which time he growls like a pit bull at all the passing dogs. Hang onto your hat if there's a squirrel sighting. He will block your view of the TV until you play a bird video. He does not like cat toys. You are his toy. Your undivided attention is required at all times. He drinks Mountain Valley water in glass bottles. No, he doesn't drink from the bottle. I mean....no tap water. He knows the difference. He screams like a banshee when riding in a car, so make sure you live no more than 10 minutes from your Vet. Do not ever let him outside except in his stroller. He does not sit in the driveway, sunbathing, like a normal cat. He will leap effortlessly over the tallest fences & run around like a wild child, terrorizing the neighbors. Covered cat box only or he will pee on the walls. Remember to comb him twice daily, after his tummy & foot massage. Catnip is a must. He eats it, good for digestion. Priscilla's organic, naturally field dried, fine grind, is preferred. He will pester you mercilessly until he gets it. Now perhaps you understand why I'm driving around South Bay in the freezing cold searching for the only food he will currently eat. There will be hell to pay if he goes on a hunger strike. Do not bring your fur babies here!!! I am extremely unhappy with the outcome of the way this company groomed my fur baby and the way they handled the situation. I specifically told them how I wanted the haircut to be done. Instead, they shaved her way too short and has caused my dog distress. I specifically asked them not to touch her face, but they did so anyway. They did not even try to contact me before they decided to shave her. They ruined her birthday. She looks like a completely different dog. She is now very depressed and has not been the same since she got back from the groomers. She even has rashes now. These people do not have compassion for the animals. I rate them a 0 out of 5 stars. I wish I could rate them lower. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone with fur babies. If anyone has gone through the same situation please call the corporate office and file a complaint against them! That way they know how their employees are treating these poor babies!! read more

I came here for the Grand Opening on Sept.13, 2014. We stood in line for about 45 minutes, hoping to be able to nab a free gift card. While waiting in the heat, I took the opportunity to take pictures, while my son & his girlfriend held my spot in line. One thing I found odd (perhaps it wasn't)... the employees were pouring the doggies water from water bottles into little bowls. That was a nice gesture, but how about the PEOPLE standing in the heat waiting to support your Grand Opening? So, the Mayor of Torrance & Pet Smart VIPs were there to officiate the Grand Opening. Patch, the PetSmart mascot was there and was available to take pictures with you. It really is a nice addition to the city! All the employees were so friendly, happy, and helpful. As it turned out, I did get a Gift Card, so it was worth waiting in the heat! Also, once we got inside, there were lots of giveaways, including doggie toys, frisbees, bandannas, a T-Shirt for the humans, & a Kong Tote Bag with treats & we used it to put our goodies in! We entered our names into the raffles. You had to return back to the store later in the day to win the Gift Card. So, we came back and held our breaths! Yep, I got lucky enough to win one!! So I left Petco because I was having problems with auto shipping. I would get wrong items. Or I would get my auto shipment too late. Sometimes I would get double auto shipment, because I am on a limited budget it would cause problems during the months for me financially. So I went to Petsmart thinking I would have better results. But right from the get-go problems. Problems with the auto shipment. A huge problem now whereas I am being charged $92.53 twice within a day of each other because someone decided to press AutoShip twice at Petsmart. Now it's left up to me to take back 2- 40 pound bags of cat litter and a 40 pound bag of dog food. Oh, I didn't tell you, I'm disabled. I can lift about, 15 pounds on my own. I do not recommend their auto shipment unless you are John D. Rockefeller and have extra money hanging around in trees. If you are like me; on a limited budget, do not go with Pet Smart maybe go back to Petco. They are more understanding with This aspect and will refund you. And not tell a disabled woman to take back 120 pounds of cat litter and dog food to the store. For a refund on items she did NOT order! read more

She's always very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive to.my needs. My dogs both have allergies beyond belief and i was feeding them Zignature but it was breaking the bank. I went here after researching some less expensive foods and found Good Natured Adult Dog Food - Grain Free, Natural, Salmon & Peas. I did some homework on it, found it to be a good quality food. Both my dogs can eat salmon and it's grain free, and 10.99 for 6 lbs is quite affordable. I've had them.on his fid for 2 months, they are doing great. The eat it dry as well. Went in tonight because I needed a few tank supplies. Saw a tiny little betta ( probably one of the smallest I've seen in a pet store) and decided to adopt it. When I went to pay, I was interrogated by 2 female employees asking me about how many fish I have and how many tanks. I have 2 tanks ( 10 gallon/ 35 gallon), considering a 3rd tank so I have no idea wth their problem was with me having a 3rd betta. As I was walking away, one of them says, hopefully it won't die. They were both rude and condescending and it amazed me they'd be so crass when they have dozens of dead fish floating around in the tanks in that store. If only they'd worry about taking care of the dead fish rather than being rude to customers. Having a fresh water tank was a hobby I enjoyed for many years and I decided to start having fish again. Wonderful experience with Angie for puppy grooming. We took our two lil' dudes, Teddy and Toby, for grooming and came out with awesome results. We had a appointment for both early in the morning. Angie was fully transparent and called well in advance to inform us that one of her groomers was not going to be avail, she worked a solution that we were happy with, full cut for Teddy and face trim for Toby. She, and staff, greeted us when entering and was very patient with Teddy, since it was his first ever trim. All were very considerate and kind all around. Prices are reasonable. We had Teddy back in about 3.5 hours with a full short trim, just how we requested. He looked like a brand new doggie, we screamed in excitement when first seeing him. Thought I'd give grooming a chance aside from all the bad reviews , boy was I wrong . Paid $50 for a bath & brush which included nail trim. Pick my dog up and notice her nails were not touched. Called & was told they didn't cut her nails cause her veins were too long. Okay why wasn't I told this upon pick up ? Went to get my dog groomed for the first time. The employees there looked as if they didn't care for their job. After I said my appointment they walk out and tried to take my dog in. It was my dogs first time at a groomers so she was nervous, not an aggressive dog. She pulled the leash down with her paw and they deemed her as an aggressive dog and did not provide me service. I would've thought that a place for ANIMALS would put some effort into getting to know the dog and get them excited, but they saw this one action and immediately denied me. We took our kitten to get groomed for the first time and we brought his rabies records because I know they need it. They told us they didn't need the records and groomed my kitty, ok cool. That was that and nothing further was explained. I assumed this would be the case moving forward since I wasn't told anything else otherwise. Well not even a full month later and we go back and they're refusing because they don't have his rabies records. They said it's because younger than 4 months they don't need it, but now they do. I was confused because, like I said, this was not explained. That's not a problem necessarily, however it's a very far trip for us. We only go because this is the closest Petsmart that grooms kittens. We offered the records the very first time and they refused it, why couldn't they just take it? Why not save me the trouble of going through with this the next time? Are we expected to travel with our pets medical records? To make matters worse the same woman that told us we didn't need it is the one that refused him so she knows our kitten is vaccinated. Ugh just extremely inconvenient for no reason. Just had their grand opening today! Was one of the first 50 people in line and scored a mystery Petsmart gift card (which I found out has $10 on it! Woo!). They offered a lot of freebies at the grand opening, including a Kong tote bag, some Kong treats, and dog and cat toys around the store. All the employees were friendly and welcoming and greeted everyone with a smile. The store itself isn't as big as the other Petsmart locations, but its nice to have a new one to visit in my area! --PLEASE READ AND TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION-- I'm really not one to write reviews but I'm infuriated by their grooming service. Making an appointment was no problem and there were three girls in the front desk. They seemed friendly, but when I came to pick up my dog I noticed my dog barking a lot (which isn't new because he hates being caged). Anyways, when I entered the front desk, nobody was there. I heard two girls talking and story telling in the back while my dog continuously barked louder and louder. I kept knocking at the front desk hoping to catch their attention in the back door but nothing. Suddenly I hear loud banging, which sounded like it came from a dog cage. While my dog kept barking, they kept banging on the cage hoping he would shut up. "This dog is so annoying" "shut up stupid dog" while still banging on the cage. With that being said, I knocked louder at the front desk, which in return caught one of the grooming lady's attention. She walked up to the front where I was at without any words so I initiated and said "I'm here to pick up my dog, I think he's the one barking." "Yeah it is your dog barking" she said with an attitude. She gave me the bar code to show in the register before I'm able to get my dog. After paying, I went back to the grooming room and found my dog SHAKING. I walked my dog back home after our little car ride and noticed he was limping a bit & when we got home, I noticed his face still dirty, meaning they didn't bother cleaning his face. They noted in the pamphlet that my dog didn't like showers and nail cutting and that he growled at them, but I personally KNOW that my dog isn't the problem. My dog is the most friendly and loving dog. I have taken him to other PetSmart and grooming places and nobody ever had that problem with him nor have I ever had this problem with with any grooming services I've been to. My point is, if you treat my dog(or any dog) gently with love and compassion, he WILL reciprocate back. If you treat my dog harsh and viciously, of course he will growl. Dog's know how humans feel and that enough shows a lot about this store and this service. I only brought my dog to this store because the ones I usually go to were fully booked for the day. With that being said, I'm never coming back to this place again. For someone working at PetSmart , the lady definitely doesn't know how to treat animals with respect. read more

During these tough times, the staff does their best to keep a good attitude. Several of their colleagues had been furloughed, especially the grooming team. But through it all, they offer suggestions on how to groom your pet yourself or recommend their other location in Hawthorne. Apparently the dog grooming restrictions vary city to city. The manager at this location, Louie, helped me find the food my dogs love the most, Nulo. He knows dogs can be picky eaters, so he understands the situation I'm in. I really hope the grooming services return soon, as my dogs trust me to buy their food, but not to cut their fur. read more

His hair was uneven, she didn't pluck his ears very well even tho I requested it on my appointment online booking form, and she cut off his really long beautiful eyelashes that I specifically told her NOT to cut. The so called manager was so off The chain with a complaint of Mine . I NEVER complain but Took my dog there to be groomed was charged $150 and the poor dog had fleas upon pick up . She never has one flea in her when I took her in! My vet gave her a chewable brown tab a year ago and we never saw one flea in her , and there was no scratching ! Our yards are spayed and we never have her inside if the house ! I went in two days after and told them about the issues was sold another product $45.00 that did nothing ! I have been coming to this store since it opened...And I hate to comepare to the other location on Sepulveda.....but.....I as telling one of the staff there this weekend, "the vibe, look, and overall experience in this store is so much more pleasant...." We were here on New Years Eve to get cat litter and bedding for the guinea pig, Thor Pig...I was talking to one of the guys about turning my salt water tank to a fresh water and he was honest and upfront of what he though/knew... On Saturday, I started transition and got some supplies from a salt store(I knew they had the filter parts, and I anted to donate the Salt fish to them to give to someone else). We took our boys in and let the older one pick some of the fish out along with the gravel and decorations for the tank. I have been using Petsmart grooming services for over 12 years throughout Southern CA during my travels During that time I have had my 2 dogs groomed there every few months. I normally request Joseph & he does a great job is very courteous and caring and is a good groomer however he wasn't available so Jessica L from the South Torrance location was going to do our dogs grooming. I found her to be uncaring rude with a really bad attitude. She was preoccupied and was annoyed because my dog was a bit excited as there was a lot of barking from some of the dogs being groomed and my dog was afraid of all the noise and having a new groomer. I told Jessica that she would have calm down once all the noise quieted down a bit from the other barking dogs but my dog sensed the frustration coming from Jessica L during check in. I decided not to have her groomed as Jessica acted like she didn't want to groom my dog because she said she was too excited. My dog loves everyone but Jessica's impatient nature was alarming. DO NOT GO HERE FOR GROOMING. I should have know something was wrong when I walked in. The dog being groomed was crying and shaking. Customer service was subpar by some employees. The gal that's in charge of checking in appointments said nothing to me as I walked in, she just stared at me. I had to prompt her with a greeting ... and then she just stared some more. A groomer had to come over and help check me in. After their initial inspection of my pup, the check-in gal placed my pup on a leash (it was more like a choker) and dragged her across the floor for several feet. I'm unclear as to why she wasn't immediately picked up as my dog is all of ten pounds . Both myself and the groomer sternly asked the girl to pick her up. My dog left there shaking and scared. She sat in the corner of the house for the remainder of the day, quiet and not wanting to interact. She's been groomed multiple times at different places and this has never happened . Due to work being done on my apartment, I had to get my cat boarded at the Pet Hotel at the PetSmart in Torrance (which is near my work, and the closest one that has a Pet Hotel - the one in Culver City does not). Originally, it was going to be for 4 nights, but due to some "concerns that the staff had", it ended up being for 3 instead. Overall, the pricing and service was excellent. One major drawback was that when it came to calling in to check in on my cat, Miagee, I would either have to wait a long time for someone to pick up, or I would have to just call at a later time - this was due to their high check-in and check-out periods, and they wouldn't always be able to answer... the good news is that at least they did warn me about this in advance. For cats, they have it completely separated from the dogs, and their section is very well kept up and clean. For an hour a day, they actually take the cats out for a little recreation, and they provide the food (if the cat prefers something else, then you would have to provide them with it at an additional cost). The main reason why Miagee was not able to stay the full 4 nights was due to the fact that he's 15 years old, and has never been boarded before. He was treated very well, but unfortunately, wouldn't eat, and I got a phone call from the staff that he wasn't using the litter box to defecate for 3 days... per company policy, if he didn't defecate in the litter box by the end of the 3rd day, they would have to take him to the vet. Well, my cat was checked up on recently prior to this, and he checked out fine. But being "completely out of his element", he was obviously scared out of his mind, and I also found out that he wasn't eating much. I ended up making arrangements to take him home and during the last day of the apartment work, I took him down with me to the car and waited it out with him. After everything was said and done, he ate like a horse and defecated in the litter box later on. So yes, he was fine. And he slept for hours... I bet he probably didn't sleep those three nights he was at the Pet Hotel - nothing against them at all. Like I said before, he was "out of his element". If you have a younger and healthy cat, I would easily recommend PetSmart's Pet Hotel. Your cat will be fine and dandy over several days if you have to board it. But for older cats like mine, while the service is great and they'll treat them well, you don't want to go longer than an overnight stay... you may be able to stretch it out to a 2 night stay, but it may be a little too stressful for them. So... for a shorter time period, I would also recommend PetSmart's Pet Hotel for older cats too. read more

I was in shock and walked in to ask one of the staff members the groomers name, I would make sure my dog is not groomed by her whatsoever! I wish i had recorded this to post on social media! This is a typical PetSmart location with very friendly staff and well stocked. However it's definitely much smaller and less selection than the PetSmart on Sepulveda (next to the Walmart) in Torrance. There's no Pet Hotel here unlike the Sepulveda location, however if you need grooming or pet supplies it's a nice place to go. read more
