Sasha (American Akita) after her grooming.
    Monica M.

I just wanted to give a shout-out to Juliana for doing such a great job w/ my Sasha. The staff at Petsmart are always sweet and kind especially w/ my baby that's known for taking a in their kennels . Sasha always comes out happy and looking great. I can always count on them to take care of my baby like their own. I live in San Pedro and I'm always willing to drive over to here so my baby is well taken care of. Petsmart, please recognize the grooming salon for always being professional and having great customer skills.

No matter how many people are working there is always just 1 person at the register. Takes forever.

My search for food for Mr. Pickycat continues today. And baby, it's cold outside. No fun. Today was my first visit to this Petsmart. It's clean. Helpful employees. Big parking lot with multiple entrances/exits. Huge selection of dog & cat toys. They do carry Applaws brand cat food, but not the batch I was looking for. I noticed they hold cat adoptions & are looking for volunteers to help out. So, you can adopt a fur baby.....or you can have mine, free of charge. FYI, he meows & howls loudly during the night so don't plan on getting much sleep. And good luck feeding him - he likes the most expensive brands of food & when you stock up on his flavor of the month, he will stop eating it. He will try to sit on your computer keyboard because he wants your full attention, so you will need to Yelp when he's asleep. Did I mention he snores? Do not attempt to bring another animal into the house - he fights with any critter he sees, no matter how big. Assuming he's awake, do not try to go for a walk without him. He will destroy the house out of spite while you're gone. Weather permitting, he expects to be pushed around the neighborhood in his pet stroller, during which time he growls like a pit bull at all the passing dogs. Hang onto your hat if there's a squirrel sighting. He will block your view of the TV until you play a bird video. He does not like cat toys. You are his toy. Your undivided attention is required at all times. He drinks Mountain Valley water in glass bottles. No, he doesn't drink from the bottle. I mean....no tap water. He knows the difference. He screams like a banshee when riding in a car, so make sure you live no more than 10 minutes from your Vet. Do not ever let him outside except in his stroller. He does not sit in the driveway, sunbathing, like a normal cat. He will leap effortlessly over the tallest fences & run around like a wild child, terrorizing the neighbors. Covered cat box only or he will pee on the walls. Remember to comb him twice daily, after his tummy & foot massage. Catnip is a must. He eats it, good for digestion. Priscilla's organic, naturally field dried, fine grind, is preferred. He will pester you mercilessly until he gets it. Now perhaps you understand why I'm driving around South Bay in the freezing cold searching for the only food he will currently eat. There will be hell to pay if he goes on a hunger strike. So that's my fractious cat, formerly homeless & starving, years ago. I rescued him & now I need someone to rescue me. Oh crap he woke up from his nap. H E L P

    Grand Opening Day
    Alana M.

I came here for the Grand Opening on Sept.13, 2014. We stood in line for about 45 minutes, hoping to be able to nab a free gift card. While waiting in the heat, I took the opportunity to take pictures, while my son & his girlfriend held my spot in line. One thing I found odd (perhaps it wasn't)... the employees were pouring the doggies water from water bottles into little bowls. That was a nice gesture, but how about the PEOPLE standing in the heat waiting to support your Grand Opening? So, the Mayor of Torrance & Pet Smart VIPs were there to officiate the Grand Opening. Patch, the PetSmart mascot was there and was available to take pictures with you. It really is a nice addition to the city! All the employees were so friendly, happy, and helpful. As it turned out, I did get a Gift Card, so it was worth waiting in the heat! Also, once we got inside, there were lots of giveaways, including doggie toys, frisbees, bandannas, a T-Shirt for the humans, & a Kong Tote Bag with treats & we used it to put our goodies in! We entered our names into the raffles. You had to return back to the store later in the day to win the Gift Card. So, we came back and held our breaths! Yep, I got lucky enough to win one!! Thank you for a grand day, PetSmart!!

    My dogs love this food
    Cher M.

Being someone who used to work in the pet industry i always look for a place with great customer service, ive found that here. Most times I've been in I've been helped by a lady, Wanda. She's always very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive to.my needs. My dogs both have allergies beyond belief and i was feeding them Zignature but it was breaking the bank. I went here after researching some less expensive foods and found Good Natured Adult Dog Food - Grain Free, Natural, Salmon & Peas. I did some homework on it, found it to be a good quality food. Both my dogs can eat salmon and it's grain free, and 10.99 for 6 lbs is quite affordable. I've had them.on his fid for 2 months, they are doing great. The eat it dry as well. I think I've found my new food. Thanks to the entire staff at this Petsmart for being so attentive and friendly and to Wanda for being so welcoming whenever I come in

Her calm, knowledgeable approach makes the training easy to understand and practical to apply in our daily routine. We've already seen great progress with both dogs, and Justine does a great job explaining the "why" behind the training so we can stay consistent between sessions. She's reliable, encouraging, and clearly cares about helping both the dogs and their owners succeed. I highly recommend Justine and the Bark Busters program to anyone looking for thoughtful, effective in-home training.

During that visit, Justine explained the Gold Lifetime program ($1,895) and said she would come to my home about every 2-3 weeks for continued training. Based on that explanation, I decided to purchase the program. However, the first session under the program lasted only about 30 minutes. When I asked about the next visit, Justine said future sessions would be done through FaceTime instead of in-home training. During the initial lesson, I clearly explained that Happy does not pull on the leash. Despite this, Justine brought a metal collar designed to prevent pulling and tried to put it on Happy, which was confusing and disappointing. I also explained that because Happy is a small dog, I wanted to learn proper heel training so he could walk safely beside me. Instead, Justine said it was fine for him to walk behind me. I do not feel this is safe for a small dog, as he could easily pick something up from the ground or encounter larger dogs from behind. As a result, I paid $1,895 but received only one 30-minute in-person session. My request for a partial refund or reassignment to another trainer was denied. I am sharing this experience so that other customers can fully understand the training approach and contract terms before committing. Clarification: The three-hour visit mentioned by the trainer, Justine, refers to the separate $300 initial lesson, which I paid for in advance and which actually lasted about 2.5 hours. The first session under the $1,895 Gold Lifetime program lasted about 30 minutes. Update: The owner responded claiming I "refused to book lessons." Attached are text screenshots proving the opposite. When I requested in-person visits every 2 weeks, the trainer replied: "I don't work that way" and offered only FaceTime instead. I did not refuse -- the trainer refused to provide the service I paid for.

Like any parent and dog owner, we were heartbroken and overwhelmed, not knowing how to move forward safely. After reading so many incredible reviews about Brian across different forums, we decided to reach out--and I'm so grateful we did. Brian helped us understand Hudson (our dog) on a completely different level. He took the time to explain the fears and anxiety driving Hudson's behavior and gave us practical tools to help him feel more secure and confident. Instead of just addressing the behavior itself, Brian helped us see what Hudson was experiencing and how to support him in a way that actually works. Over time, we've seen such meaningful progress. Most importantly, I now feel so much more comfortable and confident with my daughter interacting with Hudson. That peace of mind is something I truly can't put into words. If you're dealing with a challenging or scary situation with your dog, I can't recommend Brian highly enough. His knowledge, patience, and ability to help both dogs and owners understand each other is truly remarkable. We're incredibly grateful we found him.

TL;DR: The Way of the Dog is, quite literally, the best dog training experience in Los Angeles…read more Brian Lee is a pillar of the South Bay dog community. Across Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, and beyond, a surprising number of dog owners I've met have trained with him at some point -- and without exception, they speak highly of the experience. That reputation alone says a lot. What you get is not a typical obedience class. The program consists of five focused, no-nonsense behaviorist sessions grounded in a deep understanding of dog psychology, plus ongoing, supervised pack-socialization events (think structured dog parties, not chaotic dog parks). The emphasis is on how dogs think, not on rote commands. The training style is dense, unconventional, and unapologetically dogmatic -- in a good way. Brian does not start with commands. Instead, he teaches you to understand your dog as a born hunter with physical, mental, and social needs. Once you understand that framework, behaviors fall into place naturally. Watching him settle a dog mid-zoomie without a single command honestly looks like magic. If your goal is to teach tricks or formal commands, I'd recommend pairing this additionally with a balanced-method obedience school. I would not recommend "positive-reinforcement-only" programs like Zoom Room. In my experience -- and based on what I've seen firsthand -- that approach often fails in real-world situations. Many of the worst-behaved dogs I've encountered came out of those programs, including ours. So why listen to Brian? He has over 40 years of experience and has worked with more than 40,000 dogs. And in a time when "positive reinforcement only" has become the fashionable -- and often misleading -- default, The Way of the Dog is one of the few remaining programs that actually produces calm, stable, well-behaved dogs. We ended up here because Zoom Room training failed us badly. Our puppy was biting us so severely that I seriously considered rehoming her. This program changed everything. We learned how to be kind and strong leaders, how to meet our dog's core needs, and how to train both her and ourselves consistently -- especially through the very real chaos of the "teenage dog" phase. This business deserves five-star reviews across the board. If you look at the rare one-star reviews, they simply don't add up -- and Brian has already addressed them directly. Complaints about "teaching commands" are fake; and complaints about "fear-based training" miss the entire point of the program. Brian is direct, honest, and doesn't sugarcoat reality -- which is exactly what many people need, even if they don't want to hear it. In short, based on both my own experience and consistent feedback from other dog owners, our dog now behaves 10x better than most dogs we encounter -- calmer, more disciplined, and far less reactive. And yes, I'm officially a dog snob now. I have zero tolerance for poorly trained dogs at parks -- especially humping, biting humans, or owners who excuse bad behavior. Once you've seen what good training actually looks like, there's no going back.

If your dog's behavior is causing you stress or worry, call Tim today. He's the perfect person to help you. My doggie was found on the street when she was little and had scratches and scars as a puppy from being beaten up by other dogs. She understandably had a lot of fear aggression toward other doggos. When I got her when she was 6 months old, she would bark, lunge, and generally act like the apocalypse was coming every time we saw another doggo on leash. It got to the point where I dreaded walks with her. We found Mister Tim on Yelp, and he started helping us. He was quick to respond, always on time, and easy to schedule appointments with. As a single woman, he always made me feel safe, and was always professional. He came up with techniques to help us that were specific to my dog, not generic stuff that you find on YouTube. He was also so understanding and gentle with my pup. He quickly became one of her favorite humans. We took lessons with Mister Tim on and off for about 5 months. 2 years later, my pup is able to walk, sit, heel, and interact with other dogs on-leash in a calm and safe way. We get compliments from strangers multiple times a day on how well-behaved she is. What she has learned has even transferred to her interactions with other animals, like the cats at her pet sitter's house. What I find most important is that the things Tim taught us continue to be helpful, and my doggie continues to improve over time. At this point, her behavior is way better than anything I ever thought I could expect of her. Thank you, Mister Tim, for helping us!

You can truly tell that he loves what he does and understands dogs very well. We highly recommend Tim to anyone looking for an experienced, professional, patient, and compassionate dog trainer. We couldn't be happier with Coco's progress! Thank you, Tim, for helping our little Coco become a more confident and well-behaved dog!
