Huarache with chicken as the meat choice
    Kathy N.

Decided to give this place a try after running an errand nearby, and was so glad I did. Ordered three chicken tacos and also tried a huarache for the first time! One of the better tasting chicken tacos compared to other places I've tried and their huarache was delicious. I look forward to eating from here again and trying other items on their menu!

Taking lunch is a blessing recently. My work/life has dramatically changed in the last few weeks. I find myself working as much as 83 hours one week. Gavin is doing distance learning but I've sat down and enjoyed lunch w/ him about 5x since the pandemic started. One day I found myself w/o a meeting scheduled during lunch so I made an online purchase at Petco and knew this place was our lunch destiny. I drove by one time and saw that they accept cards. Good thing we came early because there was a line when we came back to pickup our order. The lady that took our order was so nice. I just couldn't wait to get home so we ate the majority of our meal in the parking lot, the spread on the trunk of my car w/o any regrets whatsoever. + torta + gordita + burrito + tacos I was a bit disappointed that the burrito was a bit spicy for Gavin. I thought he was exaggerating but there was some heat so he ended up stealing my torta instead. The lengua tacos were delicious but under-seasoned a bit. The gordita was my favorite and next the burrito to which they gave a generous portion of it. Support your local business esp more during this time! Can't you tell we both love Mexican cuisine?

Whenever I'd hear about a food truck back in the day, the first thing that would come to mind is prepackaged food. However, those days are long gone! These food trucks are now capable of whipping up gourmet meals that could potentially rival any local sit down restaurant. At this particular location, the trucks only come out on Friday night, with 9-11 different trucks to choose from. They also provide live music and fun games for the family. They do provide 5 gallon buckets that are used for seats, and a couple of planks/boards that can be used as tables while you are scarfing down your food. Some folks just bring their own chairs, as those buckets eventually make your ass pretty sore. It doesn't get any better than that. ***Minus 1 Star for some of the ridiculous prices***

This food truck is next to a few small shops like a liquor store and martial arts studio (dojo?), so there's a private lot. Which is good because street parking is tight. They also have a tent set up with a table and chairs, which would typically be nice although when I came it was windy and about 95 degrees out. As much as I'd like to eat my burrito quickly, I don't feel like doing so while it feels like I'm inside of a giant hair dryer. So the good is that the burrito is delicious and the salsas are fresh and tasty. Two small complaints. First, it took about 10 minutes to make my burrito with only a single order in front of me. That is just too long. So if you're in a rush, well, maybe don't be in a big rush. Second, while I know meat prices are up, $16 before tax is a lot for a medium size burrito. If the burrito was huge I'd say fine, but it's just a little small to make me feel it's good value. Maybe for $12. Anyway, the bottom line is the food is very good, I can't imagine someone having a problem with that. But it's a wee bit expensive and a wee bit slow. If you're not in a rush though and not too price conscious they make a very delicious burrito.

This was my very first visit to El Halal Mexican Restaurant in the heart of downtown Willow Glen,…read moreand I've been wanting to stop by for a while. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

I believe Jojo's Kooser road customers haven't found their new home. Third, some thoughts on the location. It's clean but utilitarian and basic. I'd love to see it get a little soul and perhaps provide more of a nod to the food truck past. Maybe also expand the menu with the larger kitchen? Jojo's still has the sandwiches we love and it will be fun to watch it grow into its new space. (Loved the Jeremiah and Corinthians references too. Appropriately hopeful)

Between our food and drinks we spent around $46, so I would say it's moderately pricey, but everything we had was good. I had a birria taco from Mi Lindo Apatzingán, my husband got four tacos, and we also got rice and beans that we really enjoyed. Our food came out pretty quickly, definitely in less than 10 minutes. We also got sour apple drinks from Las Cherry's. The drinks took a little longer, over 10 minutes, but there was only one girl working at the time, so it was completely understandable. The drinks were refreshing and I definitely want to come back and try more of what Las Cherry's has to offer. I really like the whole concept here because there are so many different food trucks in one place. There's plenty of covered outdoor seating, TVs to watch while you eat, and colorful decorations that make it a fun but still calm and chill place to hang out. Even with some of the trucks being closed, there were still plenty of options. I would definitely come back, especially to try more from Las Cherry's and the potato food truck that caught my eye!
