Was in the area and wanted a quick bite and saw this food truck pop up. Looked pretty good and decided to check it out. When went to the location where this truck is usually posted, but found out they were parked at a nearby church when we researched. Ordered one carne asada super nachos, one regular al pastor taco and one quesabirria. They have maybe about 5-6 different sauces. They are in sauce bottles in front so you would serve yourself. When went got our food, we opened the nachos and kind of tried each sauce there with a chip since they gave us 3 cups, assuming one sauce per item. Our favorite sauces were the orange and I believe, avocado. All sauces were pretty good though. The red was the spiciest, but it was salty - not sure if it was just a saltier batch that day? It was cold, so we didn't eat outside, we ate in the car. Would say our favorites were the nachos, taco and the quesabirria. Felt like the quesabirria didn't have much flavor. The nachos were probably one of the better nachos we've tried that used real cheese. Usually when we try nachos that use real cheese, they're all hard but these were good and every one of the toppings complimented each other well. Pretty good taco truck. This is a solid Mexican food truck in San Jose, I would even consider it being the best in the area. It's always busy with online and in person orders, so using the online system is helpful for sure. I always love the super tacos and birria tacos. The meat is always so flavorful and cooked to perfection. I miss the grilled onions that always came with the tacos. My husband's favorite is the burrito since it has lots of meat and a bit crispy on the exterior. There is some outside seating in the park, but also great as takeout. A solid food truck at a great location. Plenty of family-friendly activities going on in the area-- from kids practicing sports or the accessible playground with restrooms! The food itself was yummy- I got lengua tacos and the meat portions and flavors did not disappoint. Their salsas were spicy and one of them burned my mouth for a long time, if you're into that kind of thing. They have tables and stools next to the truck so you don't have to take your food to the other side of the fence to sit down and eat it. The birria taco was very flavorful but also very salty. The nachos were good but needed more cheese (a lot of pieces either had sour cream or guacamole and maybe some detectable cheese). The overall flavors of the salsa, birria taco, and nachos was veryyyy salty. Next time I'll just have my original taco with the green salsa! The service isn't super fast since they make it to order. The ordering and pickup were easy. They also have drinks but I didn't see them on the menu. The horchata was a little grainy so I just had to keep swirling/mixing it before each sip. This truck probably has something for that craving of yours - from Anaconda burritos to Birria spring rolls. They're located by a large park and you can check them out on their Instagram for opening times. They do close a bit earlier than your usual taco truck, but they're opened pretty early (11am- 9pm). If you come by in the evening, the line can be long, but service is prompt. Food: - Carne asada: tender and juicy - Al pastor: a bit dry and oily - Street Tacos: can never go wrong with these - solid. 10/10 - Taco Keke: The shrimp has a nice char and Smokey taste to it. One of my favorites. Large tortilla. 10/10 - Taco Tijuana: It was like an extra large supreme street taco. The avocado was a nice touch of creaminess, but the al pastor was a bit dry for my liking. I think having this with asada would've been better. 8/10 - Burrito Anaconda: HUGE. There was a lot happening inside that burrito. The chicken tacos were delicious! The chicken wasn't too dry or salty like other places. There was a good amount of chicken on the tacos too. The service is welcoming and friendly. They have some outdoor seating if you wanted to eat under a tree, which is nice. I definitely want to come back to try the rest of the menu. read more

Five stars for the EL Chore was a banger! I brought my mom out for some grub and on the way back from walking we found this place on Hillsdale and Paul Moore Park. This spot is popular so arrive early because the line can get long with a wait to match. hahaha. I got an incredibly large carne asada deluxe quesadilla, they served it with three huge parts and they add grilled onions with it. Suffice to say that I will go back to this joint to order more food. Perfect flavors--bold without feeling aggressive, amazing grill smoke on the meat, fluffy fries, and fresh pico de gallo. $11.99 and MASSIVE; I could only eat half of it! They have a variety of house made salsas as well; one standout was the watermelon habanero. Service is pretty quick, and they've got a good selection of Jarritos as well as a couple options for agua fresca on any given day. There are a few plastic stools on the lawn nearby, but bring a picnic blanket and watch a soccer game in the park while you're scarfing down your food. We received a confirmation email with an estimated time our order would be ready--and it accepted our payment. We tried calling the phone number listed several times but it went straight to voicemail. Several hours later we received an email indicating our order had been cancelled. This is one of the best taco trucks I've ever been to! It's so convenient that it's next to a park and always at the same location. As you're walking up to the food truck, you always get a whiff of delicious food smell. I've always opted for the super burrito and it never disappoints. I love how the tacos have ample size of grilled onions, cucumbers, and radishes. They are always generous with the meats and condiments. The staff is always super friendly and they work so hard cooking yummy food. Since I've been going to this food truck, there's not a lot of places that compare to it. This spot has been on my list for a while and so glad to finally tried it. It is a taco truck by a park. So expect to do street parking. We ordered a few items and it took us a while (maybe approx 20mins) before we got our orders. This was my first time seeing a place that sells spring roll birria. The spring roll was SO crunchy, but sad that the birria itself was not as flavorful. We also got the vampiro with al pastor and their pastor was so tender, super well-marinated pork with some smokiness to it, 10/10. As far as the crispy taco, it was lighter that eating vampiro, but it did not really stand out flavor wise. This is definitely a hidden gem! And their salsa was so good too! read more

Getting through their huge portions is definitely a "chore." Tacos El Chore is a food truck that often posts up at Paul Moore Park on Hillsdale Ave near Cherry. My friends introduced me for lunch (and paid, so no prices forthcoming save for smudges on menu photos), at which point we ordered a bunch of stuff to-go. They seem to specialize in birria, and I tried a couple takes on it. The birria egg rolls come 3 per order and are pretty huge. They're crispy at first but can get soggy if you wait or soak it too long in Consome, aka the flavorful stew. Well, at least it's usually pretty flavorful; this consome felt oddly muted somehow, and I kept having to add one of the salsas (make sure to fill up your own to-go containers) such as mild tomatillo. Same deal for the quesibirria tacos, which seems to add gooey mouthfeel more than much flavor. Some of the other meats were more interesting to me overall. I had a lengua taco (possibly $2.50) which had tender, diced pieces of tongue. Cecina vampiro came with cheese and pounded-flat slices of marinated pork. Al pastor quesadilla (the super version, I think?) was the star with marinated pork that was even more tender. Radish slices and grilled onions were available with most plates and added texture and flavor to everything. Tacos El Chore are worth a try if you're craving tacos or related goodies. Give them a try if you come across them in the San Jose area. read more

3.5 rounding up. We ordered the Birria Anaconda Burrito and Birria Fries. Initially, Gavin was bummed that we had to share the burrito but I assured him that there is no way we both can even finish it. Like him, I don't like to share my food either so I understand the feeling of turmoil. The burrito came w/ consume, guacamole, and sour cream however, despite us confirming we'd need just 1 cup of consume and the guacamole on the side, they forgot about the consume, guacamole, and sour cream in the burrito. The birria fries was really good. I felt I gained close to 10lbs after eating it, but in life when you work hard, you eat good. The rice in the burrito was dry, the birria was good in flavor but because of the rice, it gave us the overall taste of it being dry. I loved the size of the burrito and the price can't be beat. The highlight of my experience was the birria fries. I liked that they accept cards and they give you a pager once you've ordered/paid. We waited about 12-15 min. A line slowly formed as we were waiting. If you are on a time crunch, call to place your order ahead. I'll give them another shot to try their pizza birria. read more

Ever since I tried these bad bois, I've been craving it nonstop. Pictured here is their Quesa Birria Tacos along with their warm saucy churros. I can't begin to tell you how much these tacos hit the spot, esp eating it outside the food truck on a cold and stormy night. Between the flour tortilla is packed with birria, onion, cilantro, cheese, and flavorrrrr. Oh you thought that was it?... nahhhh you're wrong. Super taco was nice and crispy with melted cheese and the gauc and sour cream on top was perfect. Flavor is 10/10. Quesabirria tacos were super tasty and had such a good crunch to them. 10/10. The churros were AMAZING. Warm, fluffy, chewy and just the right amount of sugar. Came with chocolate sauce on the side which we used to dip and just so good. I went on a Thursday night, so it wasn't too busy. We had ordered carne asada super tacos, anaconda burrito, birria tacos & churros. Every thing was well priced and they were pretty quick in making the food. The churros were my absolute favorite. It comes with chocolate and caramel sauce. The churros were freshly made and I love how they're cut in little pieces. It makes it easy to dip. The warm churros + caramel sauce is worth coming back alone. I didn't try the anaconda burrito but it's well priced for the size. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to feed approx. 3-4 people. Used to love this truck but it seems to be going down hill. I've gotten a few stripper burritos. The sign says 5 shrimp they always give 4. No big deal they're good. Burrito is also fat feeds 2-3 people. Well....they've got smaller and smaller. Last time it was skinny and between me and my 5ft 100lb girlfriend we ate it all and ended up eating snacks later that night which was never case. Tastes good. Hard to tell how skinny it is in pic. Good but flavor just getting smaller. I even paid extra $2 for two meats. Wish I could find my pics of the previous ones I've got that were big. Probably go back one more time and see if it was fluke. read more

Update on Jose's Business! What makes me love Jose's truck is just how unique and creative this man gets. New items on the menu all the time calls for a new and unique experience all the time. So what do we have today? Quesabirria Tacos: While these are not a new item, every time I visit I always gotta get my quesabirria taco fix. You're a fool if you don't try his quesabirria's with the consommé. El Zombie Taco: The El Zombie taco is by far the CRAZIEST thing I've ever seen in my life. Is that blue color appealing to the eyes? Or is it terrifying to look at? Well, don't be startled because the tortilla is actually home made and Jose either added food coloring or he crushed up Taki blue heat into it to get that vibrant blue tealish color. On the inside its just your standard asada with onions, cheese, cilantro, and blue taki chips. I gotta say the tortilla if you try hard enough it tastes a little different. But its not that strong of a flavor. The takis inside work so incredibly well to offer a crispy texture with each bite. Birria Bread Bowl: Something thats been out for a month or two now. Think of it as a clam chowder bowl but instead with birria meat, cheese and consommé inside. The perfect combination for the upcoming rainy/cold weather wouldn't you say? While the idea is amazing and execution is perfect of this dish, I personally would pick the quesabirria tacos over the bread bowl. The crunch from the tortilla shell can not be replaced. Never knew a taco truck existed on this street! After almost passing out at the gym, I was super hungry and definitely needed some good protein. There is a decent amount of street parking near the truck and a couple benches in the park nearby if you're looking for a spot to sit and eat! We wait in line in front of the window and tell the order through a mesh screen to the cashier. Me and my sister ordered the: Horchata: The horchata wasn't as sweet or strong but still had the sugary churro-ey taste! Quesa Birria: the sauce that it came with was pretty delicious and despite me eating it a little late it was still very good! *would recommend this item for first comers* Tacos (Al Pastor and Lengua): It's hard for me to enjoy these tacos since I've grown used the taste of San Diego and Mexico tacos. They were still pretty authentic! Asada Fries: They had thick cut curly fries and a ton of guac! The meat was plentiful and was overall very fine. Overall, it was a decent experience. We chose half asada half alpastor and oh my THE BIRRIA PHO moth watering fresh fall apart beef meat this I would call a amazing resturant packed in a food truck. Their food is so amazing fresh from the time that we ordered to the time we left they were very friendly and nice. The best QuesaBirria I've had in the south bay! They offer all of the usual favorites and some pretty great unique items you find anywhere else. The Birria Dog was awesome. On top of all the great food and tasty pink habanero salsa, the prices are competitive. Highly recommended. read more
