I think this is a classic! It has such good food. It had one of the best garlic naan I've tried in Houston. It was delicious. The veggie and chicken samosas were also sooo good! I highly recommend. There's around 50 people worth of seating. It is a homey interior with wooden seats and tables. They had so many options and it was very tasty, but although I liked how the chicken karahi tasted, something inside it didn't sit will with my stomach. The decor was dimly lit and very cozy and the service was nice, we came on a Saturday night so a bit packed. My friends and I wanted to try this place because we were craving authentic Indian food; the concept of British Indian cuisine was interesting! I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo, the Chicken Samosas and the Garlic Bread Naan. The Garlic Naan was delicious and so were the Chicken Samosas, the sauces (chutney) they provided were nice as well, the green one was spicy and the brown one was on the sweeter side. While this place is known for their sizzlers, I wanted something that would fill me up but wasn't heavy; thus, I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo. While it wasn't bad, and I definitely tasted the spice, the bowl that it was served in made the portions look a lot more than it actually was. I ended up paying $19 for this dish but I felt that there was more sauce than chicken/potato. In general, the food was satisfying, but nothing mind-blowing, and quite expensive. Truthfully, I don't think this place was worth the drive, especially since I can find other Indian restaurants locally that taste just as good if not better. Eating at London Sizzler is always a solid experience. The pub style of the restaurant with the matching decor and low lighting, provides a cozy and nice evening dining experience. As someone who cannot tolerate spicy food, I appreciate that their dishes are flavorful without containing too much heat. The staff are attentive and make sure you have timely service. I've eaten here several times, both with large and smaller groups, and we were always treated well. The chicken tikka masala and saag paneer are classic favorites, being rich and creamy with nice tangy taste. The tandoori "sizzler platters" are pretty tasty, with succulent meat and caramelized onions on the side. We had dinner here with a group of our friends last night and it really wasn't a great experience... First, it took FOREVER for us to both be greeted and for our food to come out after ordering it. The restaurant is fairly small and was hardly half full, so we couldn't fathom why it was taking forever for our food to arrive. Not to mention that 3 of our 5 entrees were curry dishes, which are typically pre-prepared ahead of time in restaurant settings. The biggest issue, however, was the noise level. It was HORRENDOUSLY LOUD in a place that was so small and not very crowded. At first we thought it was because of the table of 8 people next to us, but after they left it was STILL obnoxiously loud in this place. The sounds seemed to be bouncing around the place and the atmosphere was just very off in general. For context, I'm used to loud places - we go to Indian restaurants all the time and I've been to India on many occasions where the noise level is constantly loud, but I left this particular restaurant with a massive headache and the need to decompress alone in my bedroom for half an hour. Delicious!!! Really great spot for amazing British-style Indian food. If you want amazing, refined flavors, this is the spot for you! I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala and the samosas. The curry is very flavorful with just the right amount of kick to it. The samosas are perfectly fried with the most soft filling. First of all i was skeptical of this place because of the reviews but I definitely didn't trust the reviews because none of them were indian LOL So we went indian outfit shopping and my boss mentioned I try this restaurant. OMGGGG absolutely AMAZING from the bomb nachos, samosas, lamb chill, garlic naan, the milk chai, and the tandoori chicken....Everything was so tasteful and perfect. I literally could not stop eating- I don't trust lamb out here in Texas but THIS LAMB was so fresh and yummy This place is really cute inside as well and the bar area look LIT. Got the mixed grill sizzler. Loved the chicken tikka pieces, but the chicken and lamb kebab tasted very similar and wasn't as flavorful and tender as the chicken tikka. Portion size was plenty for two people, had leftovers. The sizzlers go well with a couple of beers. read more

I take it back about service. I came in here after being abroad and just getting into town. They refused to let me sit in a table in the back since I was by myself. The host insisted that I had to sit a weird round table next to the aquarium because they could get "full at any moment". When I asked if I could sit at a table in the back, he said "nope". Then when I asked about a table in the corner, he said "nope". He said I only had one option. He had to go ask the manager after I insisted and almost walked out. He also told me I had to go sit in the front and wait while he talked to the manager. He first went and told all three waitresses first before walking into the kitchen to go ask someone. They were almost completely empty and they have a back room and seats at the bar. Look how full they are at 4:48pm on a Saturday-- a time when NO ONE normally eats Food is good but I take back what I previously said about the staff being nice and accommodating. The wait staff was nice but what was going on with the host? He almost seemed to enjoy telling me "no" and was fine as I walked out of the restaurant to the front area. He would rather me leave than let me sit at another table in an empty restaurant. Training needs to happen here. read more

I came in later tonight with hopes of a good curry. Well, sometimes things can go reverse and not always in the best way. This was my first time coming here and most likely my last, unless I hear big changes, which is unlikely. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. Without a doubt, it was the absolute worst chicken tikka masala I have ever had in my twenty years of eating Indian food. The chicken pieces were supple, but small. Fine. The gravy where the flavor is really at was simply awful. I wouldn't feed it to a dog. It had a lot of garlic and a minty aftertaste too. I know garlic is often used in that curry despite not being able to taste it. I like a garlic catch in many, but not all foods of course. It was not good in this meal at all and the mint aroma was very annoying and unpleasant. I even took the rest of this for a family member's opinion just to see n that person wasn't thrilled either. It was late, thus my options were limited, so I mostly ate against my pleasure. I generally really love a good chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. Since both are pretty similar, taking my order back for butter chicken would've been nearly as bad as this entree. Houston has several great Indian restaurants with some being excellent, while some great and some just good. This place was not one of them imo. It was kind of small and like fast food quality to actually be 20 dollars on top of this. I could go to other places for much better quality Indian curry for the same price. I can't really give this spot a full review because I have not had the opportunity to try everything. On our quest to try different foods my girls and I went on our monthly happy hour dates. The location is off of 59 so a straight shot for me after work. The location is on a strip mall with other stores and food spots. Parking was not a problem at the time we got there but when we left it was a little crowd and parking lot was getting busy. When you walk inside it's a nice spot no complaints about that. The happy drink menu was ok it was mainly Wells drinks that had the deal and some wine and beer. I order the appetizer because I really wasn't hungry. I like chicken tiki but I was really liking it as nachos, it started off food good as it was hot and the cheese was melted, but as it cooled down wasn't really feeling it. Now the cheese garlic naam was good! I would of preferred a white cheese, but it was still good. The food is dry, and the service is horrible. I had a terrible experience, where I ordered online, but forgot a bread. Because of this, I specifically called them and told them to add it. I even gave them my credit card details over the phone. They did not have the bread, and it completely ruined my experience. I was hoping for something the standard of the English Curry Houses. Honestly you would have to look in the Bargain Basement of the bottom 10% of British Curry houses to find something as disappointing as this. Absolutely not what I was hoping for. Americanized, Bland, and not at all British Indian in my opinion. More like Americanized Indian. Our son knows we love Indian cuisine and he brought us here, he made a spectacular choice. He asked us to trust him and let him order, another great choice on our part! We gnoshed on a lot of goodies. Papadum, masala papadum...this one is covered with onions, tomato, cilantro and spices. Chicken tikka nachos with jalapeno were tasty....never had these anywhere else. We had regular naan, a stuffed naan and even one that reminded me of cinnamon toast...that one disappeared quick. Chicken tikka over a bed of grilled onions, chicken biryani, our daughter-in-law got some kind of lassi that was gone before I could get a good picture of it. I shared a taj mahal beer with my wife and our son got his own. A feast like no other, may be the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. Amazing service that met and exceeded the quality of the food. One of the items I ordered was the lamb masala sizzling plate it was tasty but I had wish that I had ordered a curry lamb Masala instead. The samosas I ordered were delicious along with the sauces they provided. The mango lassi was alright tasting. One of my favorite things about this place is the fresh made naan bread! So fluffy and tasty I will definitely order that again and again! The chai tea that I ordered was good and I enjoyed it. Service is atrocious, but the food is phenomenal. We're former Pondicherites when we visit Houston, but today we decided to leave the Loop and check out London Sizzler (located in an Indian strip mall) with one of our brothers. There was only one other table seated when we arrived, but it still took the waitress (the only one on the floor) over fifteen minutes to get to us--we have never seen someone in the service industry walk so slowly or take so many trips back and forth to get something done. The food is worth waiting for. We started with the lamb and veggie samosas. The wrapping was nice and crisp and not too oily and the lamb one was perfectly spicy and packed with flavor. The veggie one was OK but a bit bland. For dinner, we all shared garlic naan, the chicken tikka sizzler, the baingan bharta, and the lamb keema. Wow. Everything was wonderful, seriously. The naan was nice and fluffy, and each of the mains was well-cooked and had so much seasoning. The side salad we ordered was a joke (no surprise there, joke's on us) but the raita had almost no cucumber in it. Small complaints though. This is the kind of unassuming restaurant serving ethnic food that we love. Because prices were higher than usual, we did expect better service, but we were so enamored with the food that we're willing to let it go. Four stars. read more

Super nice, also had nice hair. Dealing with a crowd of rambunctious rabble-rousers. I arrived later than the rest of the pack. I didn't wait long for food, drink or check. All the staff I interacted with were very pleasant. Food: I went with the 4 piece lamb chop (watch the video). $15.99 is not a bad deal at all. You could get an 8 if you're starving.... Or sharing. Who shares?! The garlic naan was delish. Cons Weak drinks: Yes they're cheap. But I can purchase cheap drinks with better quality elsewhere. I've never made a bad G&T. You have to purposefully do something to mess it up. In this case it was extremely flavorless. Even the lime had no flavor. If there was gin, it was in far less than sufficient quantity to be considered an alcoholic beverage. Happy hour:. It should be extended to 8pm. Traffic is a beast. That's pretty much it. First up, this is a great place to meet up friends and have Indian food. The unique this about this joint is their sizzlers. They serve kebabs on a sizzling hot plate (like fajitas). Overall it's a reliable place for good food. The spice levels are alright, the quality of the meats is good and everything on the menu is a consistent 'Good' . I like the venue because I don't have high expectations and the venue is good for large groups. The few things you must try here are their Peanuts , Wings and Paneer sizzler . Everything else is good but not mind blowing. I would have gone with 4 stars but overall the place is a solid , reliable, consistent 3. Shopping around the area with family, we always talked about going to the London Sizzler but never quite made it because we're more about the "whole in the wall" places. Thanks to Dolph W and his genius idea to do a "mystery dinner," I finally had the opportunity to sample the menue. Quite the gentleman, Dolph made a reservation for our group of 15 -- yes, I said 15 -- and upon arrival, our table was ready. As we awaited others to trickle in, our kind waiter started us off with bevs, ranging from beer to water. I'm thrilled to know that the London Sizzler has a full bar. Alas, when the 15th person arrived, our grumbling tummies were ready to order. Fortunately, with such a large group, we were able to sample various dishes on the menu, as our kind group shard family style ... awww. My first impression of the goat biryani was that it was good, yet had way too much sauce ... more than I've ever been accustomed to, so I had to add a lot of white rice to balance that off. Maybe that is more of an Indian way of preparing the meal, but that's something you wouldn't find at a traditional Pakistani restaurant. On to the saag paneer which everyone really enjoyed. I gave it a thumbs up my first few bites, but I noticed it had a sweet taste to it. Once again, something I'm not used to, yet still one of my favorites. The naan was fresh from the oven, and sopping up my yogurt was another highlight of the meal. Also trying Jaire Q's chicken tikka, I found that to be right on target. Gretchen P ordered a spiced up potato plate of some sort and that too was worth a few oohs and ahhs. Aside from my mango lassi, which you can never go wrong with at an Indian/Pakistani restaurant, dessert was a disappointment. In all my life, anytime I ordered gulab jamun from a restaurant or my dad brought some home, they all tasted the same: like rich, doughy pancake balls smothered in honey. My instant thought after taking half a bite into one? A feeling of nostalgia from when I was a kid at ... a petting zoo. Yes, it tasted like a petting zoo. Laugh if you will, but when Gretchen P and Eva L tasted it and I described my taste, I got an instant "you're so right!" From what I tasted, and trust me, there is plenty more on the menu to taste, I think the food deserves 3 stars. The service however, deserves far greater. With such a great party, our server was on top of our drinks and even remembered the brews that a few people were drinking. When it came to providing proper setups and extra plates for sharing, that too was excellent. Overall, I'd give them 3.5 stars, but feel a bit off rounding it up to four. I used to really like this place. Have been for HH and dinner but always sat at the bar. Food is pretty good; I go here it is the closest bar to where I throw axes. Their HH is decent. Drinks are about $6 for decent brands and snacks are okay. Usually go for mixed grill and some samosas. Note that there are only like six seats at the bar and if you are there for HH it is pretty dead. When I leave more people are starting to show up. Service is hit or miss. When a place isn't busy people can disappear. I would say their are better places to dine in the same parking lot. read more

Got some samosas too and they were okay, pretty standard. Green sauce for it is my favorite. Had the Vegetable Jalfrezi which is a delicious and hearty veggie curry. Definitely recommend this! Also ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. Tomato cream base was dreamy and delicious. Was soaking up all the sauce from it. Lastly, the Peshwari Naan is from heaven above. I hadn't been to London Sizzler in almost 4 years since it's sort of out of the way from where I live. Imagine my delight when I saw it available on Uber Eats! Naturally, I had to stock up! I have a low spice tolerance so I opted for the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala plus naan. The curries come with rice on the side. The curries were both the consistency I like - lots of sauce but not so liquify that it seems watered down. Flavors were on point for what I would expect from mild curries; nice tomato base flavor and subtle creaminess. Rice was perfectly cooked and the naan was fresh, buttery, and delicious. On top of that the food was still piping hot when it arrived even after a 25min or so delivery. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Houston and it's in a Mahatma Gandhi district center full of other tasty places to explore. On our first visit since the pandemic closures today in September of 2020, we felt quite safe. Staff is masked and tables are distanced. The special this week was green curry chicken and we ordered that along with our "must order" items of papadum, one of several varieties of the spicy mogo they offer as appetizer (yucca/cassava root), and garlic bullet naan with lots of chiles and garlic. Indian beer and some Chardonnay too to quench the fires. Try the cucumber raita for that purpose also, we skipped that this time. I feel fortunate we have this restaurant in Houston to enjoy, and happy we can visit once again. read more
