We had immediate service late on a Sunday of the Labour Day long weekend, so of course after midnight is was not busy which was fine as we just needed something to eat! Service was quick and friendly. We were sitting with out tandoori chicken, curry, and some naan in no time and chowing down. I called ahead for a pick up order for only a piece of naan. I was told it would be ready in five minutes, which was great because I was on my 30 minute break at my job. I waited 15 minutes with no communication, the front desk person left, and I never got my naan. I wasted essentially my entire break for nothing and no communication. When I asked for a refund because I had to return to work before my break ended, he didn't even apologize for the delay and subsequent cancellation. Maybe one of the worst Indian takeout places I've tried in the city. Picking up the order was also an interesting experience - he made me pull up my Grubhub account on my phone. I showed him the order receipt but then he wanted to make sure it was actually me and had my name on it? So I had to go into my account profile and show him that. I guess too much time on their hands since the restaurant was dead empty. I wished I had read the signs outside the restaurant earlier before ordering my food - they run all kinds of deals that you don't see on the delivery apps. Lentil Soup to go! I must say I actually love sitting in but being under the weather decided to have takeout . I've brought multiple friends here and we have all enjoyed the selection of dishes. I'm Vegan and the vegan options are great ! they do not disappoint !! Staff is always super nice and very much appreciate their hospitality anytime I dine in. I got a delivery a few hours ago. It's my first time ordering from them. A few curries, naan, and nibbles. The food was good compared to Manhattan's Indian. My problem (should I call it a problem? I think it's more of a laughable situation) was the mango chutney. I know. It's just chutney, not even a side. But when I saw what they sent as "mango chutney", I went from laughing uncontrollably to sheer rage. Simply take a look at the photos (what they advertise and what they sent). People, are you serious? Are you really charging customers $0.95 for a shot of mango nectar? (Was it Goya?). What a let down. You did good with the food, but that little detail simply screwed up the entire meal. Customers: make sure you stock on chutneys and relishes whenever you order from here, because all you will get from them are mango and watered down mint nectar shots. read more

This is the worst Indian food I've ever had. The mango lassi looks like a whole container of orange food coloring has been poured into it. The saag paneer looks like it was from canned spinach. They will steal your money and write tips on the receipt that you didn't leave them. I ordered from here by phone for pick-up several times and always only bought the same one item, "Paneer Tikka Masala". A big guy who recently started working there that always wears a plaid shirt awkwardly pointed at the receipt then asked me for a tip after I signed the receipt, I said no maybe next time. After that moment I noticed the costs for that one item which costs $14.48 (with card) kept getting higher and higher on my bank statement and now it's showing up as $18.48 and prior to that, $17.98. I went back and asked the guy for the signed paper receipt for my previous purchase and he couldn't produce it, I had to dispute the charges with my bank. This guy is a scammer don't order from here. I was excited to try this place, since this part of Williamsburg only has low-quality Indian food. My boyfriend and I (who are both vegan) went in together for dinner on Saturday and the staff were super friendly. The inner decor is nothing to write home about, but it was clean, standard for what I'd guess is primarily a takeout kinda place. We ordered the chana saag and balti vegetables, as well as the dhal soup, all of which are vegan. It's notable that the server didn't know what "vegan" meant, but he was knowledgeable enough about the menu to answer what had dairy in it or not. The rice does contain ghee, but the chapati (which is AMAZING) is vegan. The chana saag and balti vegetables were great. The balti was especially flavorful, though a bit oily. The dhal soup was okay; don't think I'd get it again. I highly recommend the chapati. Also, they're BYOB! Overall, this place is way above the other Indian spots in the area, and is vegan-friendly. We had a late night meal here and so we were the only ones in the restaurant but didn't notice it at all! The food was fantastic and the service was amazing -- we had a fantastic conversation with our server about the Indian food regions and he was so sweet and pleasant. The portions were great and the naan and butter paneer were fantastic. They gave us multiple chutneys and flatbread for free and also offered free rice pudding for dining in! Please watch your step when you walk in. They do have a sign yet I successfully seemed to have ignored it. It's a deep step and I found out the hard way! I'm always skeptical when there's many 5* reviews and London Tandoori did not disappoint. I ordered the aloo gobi samosa and I enjoyed it. It was flaky on the outside and not crunchy like some places I've tried. They offer a few chutneys to enjoy with as well. My fav was the mango chutney. I also had the chicken "jalfrezi" and this really blew me away. It is basically a spicy dish with some sliced bell peppers and onions cooked in a spicy curry w/ green chilis! It's more towards a medium spicy so if heat is not your thing, just pass. I asked the gentleman if it was less spicer than 'vindaloo' and he replied, "yes it is less spicer and vindaloo is very spicy". So, I love a "burn yo ass off" dish from time to time but, today was not that day. The basmati rice was also good. You can actually taste the flavors of ghee. I'm hoping they add a brown basmati rice option for the health conscious in the newr future! All in all, I'd say do yourself a favor and go here. So, I'll be back again ... soon read more

OUTSTANDING SERVICE! INCREDIBLY TASTEFUL. The servers were so polite and always made sure we had enough water, helped us pick out what we wanted, answered questions, food came relatively quick- not right away but not a long wait by any means. Everyone gets complimentary rolled thin bread stuff with dipping sauce that's really good. But the food WAS AMAZING!!!!! All I can say is go try it for yourself. I got the Chicken Tika Masala which came with rice- (the rice was the BEST rice I've ever had~ mouth watering) we also got some mango drinks that tasted amazing with everything, it's like a mango smoothie but not icy or anything. Once we finished eating our service asked us if we wanted some Complimentary tea that they make themselves - and of course we said yes and it was SO GOOD and a great way to end the meal. It was a milk based tea of some sort but we got to add sugar to it- SO YUMMY. We were sooo stuffed by the end- it's not a small portion that's for sure AND I had lots of leftovers to bring home which I can't wait to eat today. The food was pretty not memorable. My review is about the delivery. I ordered through Seamless, and I have already called Seamless and confirmed that the delivery person is an employee of the restaurant and not Seamless. I ordered during the pandemic. The delivery man was leering at me, staring me up and down, kept calling me names like "honey" and "sweetie" and saying thank you over and over and smiling and staring at my body. It was really creepy and threatening, so much so that I almost yelled out to my partner to come down just in case. The delivery man went out of his way to make sure this would not be contactless. No matter how I tried to grab the bag, he put his hands there to ensure our hands would touch. I tried taking the handle, going for the bottom, doing a side approach; he kept moving his hand to exactly where I would have to grab to make sure he could touch me. After I took the bag, I said thank you and started moving inside. He didn't move back to leave, he got closer and kept smiling, staring at me, and calling me honey and sweetie and saying thank you. I actually got scared he would try to come in. I rushed inside and locked the door and remembered why I always send my BF to get the food instead of going down myself. I called Seamless and they gave me some bullshit about how they will transfer this complaint to the appropriate department and will take the "necessary actions" without specifying what the department is and what the actions are. That this may be "the best Indian" in the area says less about this place and more about the choices nearby. If a new Indian restaurant opens I'm like a Pavlovian dog and must try it. I'm no expert on what region of India serves what but I know what I've liked at other places, so I would've liked it if mulitiwagny soup was offered and also the spices I associate with Indian to be put on the side, red onion, tamarind and the green sauce. Here I had to request spices, and they were different and for me didn't add to the flavoring (I like to add some sweetness), making a certain "sameness" by meals end. I went for the lunch special and this is the second place I've learned that if it's 10 dollars it's going to be small. I had lamb curry, meat was fresh, but with how little there was of it wish the flavor (which was spicy, the way I like it) had knocked my socks off. What I love about Indian is when it's really good that flavor staying with you a while. Conversely the rice and daal was a big amount, but It added to the "sameness" when there aren't other flavors to mix in. The look of the place neither adds or detracts, but the service was good and fast, and I appreciated they were open by noon, because I was in a rush. If you absolutely need an Indian fix this place is good, but if you have time and need more quality than, "yeah that was Indian I'm satisfied" I'd get on the nearby subway to get it.. read more
