We have been coming here for years and, once again, it didn't disappoint! My husband had the sampler platter which had catfish, alligator, and frog legs with fries and hush puppies. The Lone Cabbage is a lovely old school fish camp situated along the Saint Johns river west of Cocoa FL. I don't know how long it has been there, but I would guess quite a while. When you arrive you find an open air barn like structure on the river with great views and lots of open air seating. We enjoyed the band on Sunday, which had the crowd up and dancing. read more

Love stopping here! Fried food, drinks and great scenery. Service and employees have always been awesome. Been going for yrs and will be going again Saturday after a play date with my grandchildren in Melbourne. Never brought our dog however not sure if they're pet friendly on the dock seating. We will have our dog Saturday because the grandchildren have never met him, so hopefully he'll be allowed. On a leash of course. Overall a good experience, food was hot and fresh, service was mediocre. We easily could have spent more time but the wait staff seemed disinterested. We had to go to the bar to request more drinks after only being served one drink. They could do more to keep the tables clean outside. We came here on July 8, 2020 at 3 P.M. The location is more rural and the views were pleasant. The interior of the building can use some cleaning and improvement. Our server was Sofie or Sophie, however her name is spelled. After thirty minutes into the experience, we asked our server about shrimp which turned into a long conversation with her telling lies. Lone Cabbage does not serve proper shrimp. We disagreed with our server when she accused my mother of rolling her eyes, disrespected her and walked away. Sofie or Sophie never returned to us after that. But we would see her in the kitchen or walking by us giving us snobbish stares totally ignoring us. After finishing our meal, we spoke to the manager Denise who was very dishonest and insulting accusing my mother of tapping her drinking glass and being rude which never happened. We were very polite throughout the experience. We were slightly dumbfounded that the manager would make up a stupid lie about my mother tapping her drinking glass. Thanks for the laugh. We came here for the air boat tour and were not disappointed in that. We saw a ton of gators and our tour guide was very informative. After we were finished we sat down for food. My husband and I split the sampler which came with frog legs, catfish bites, and gator bites. All of them were good with a little cocktail sauce. One of the three things (we think it was the catfish bites?) had a lot of little tiny bones - thats the only reason I am giving 4/5 stars. Good fried food - enjoyed trying frog legs and gator. Not fancy at all, but a good place to sit and enjoy the sunshine, particularly when a band is playing. Visited this rustic fish camp as part of a cruise line tour when we stopped in Port Canaveral and we had a great time. We took an airboat ride and then stayed for lunch and had a look at some of their rescued animals, including a beautiful albino skunk. The season wasn't right for seeing gators, except babies, but the bird life was magnificent. The guides really knew their stuff too. (I gave them 4 stars only because I had nothing to compare them with, altho there are lots of such camps in the area.) I've been coming here for years. Love the gator bites. Love the band on Sunday but watch your money. The last two times I've come here two different waitresses took all the money I had on the table and kept it. Never gave me a receipt and asked them where my change was. Both said I thought you didn't want it? Really? One was like $7.00 the other only 97 cents . I ordered two beers and gator bites and wanted to make sure there was enough for the waitress. I've been in the service industry my whole life and I always tip at least 20% but both these girls copped attitudes and acted entitled. I tipped the first girl but the second was so ignorant I figured let her keep her damn 97 cents and didn't give her another damn dime. That girl had blonde hair and a black lone cabbage tank on. You want to try deep fried gator for the 1st time, or 100th time, this is by far the best place to go! I grew up in the area and every time I got to choose to place to eat, lone cabbage was my choice. I loved taking people here to try the gator, fried okra, catfish, etc. No matter what you choose you are getting an excellent meal! The service is always on point and staff is awesome. Gotta love sitting and watching the gators swim by too! And the airboat rides are always a blast, especially for people who are visiting and have never been on one. I will never shy away from recommending this place, and now that I live very far away I will eat (and drink) here every time I visit home! We were looking for a place to eat on the way to the airport. This place was on the way using Google maps but was not on Yelp. However, it got great reviews on Google. I was intrigued. Boy am I glad we went! So... I am not adventurous when it comes to eating animals. Today I tried Boyfriends gator. It was really good! I got catfish as I'm a country girl at heart and it was pretty good. Not as good as my uncle Paul Wayne fries up, but good still. The portions were a good size as well - in fact we got a to go box and enjoyed some on the plane. Our server was friendly and helpful. Now to the amazing part.... They had air boat rides (aka fan boat). Think Louisiana. I've seen this on tv. I've never had the opportunity to do it. Boyfriend hadn't done it either so he got us tickets: $24 a person for 30 minutes. You can do longer rides but we had a flight to catch. I think 30 minutes was plenty anyhow. So, we saw Gators! Big ones, little ones... And some cool birds and cows. I did Facebook live and my friends got to see video of a gator right by our boat. It was so much fun and the boat can go fast! The gentleman doing the tour (I am terrible with names) was great. He was super amusing and gave us lots of history and fun facts. I'd say even if you're not hungry, come by at least for the fan/air boat ride. We had to get a few souvenirs too. I'm always in need of a new shot glass. read more

Any other day this review would be a 4 but we had a snotty waitress. Lone Cabbage has pretty consistent food. Not the best, but no surprises. This is a regular stop for bikers but families intermingle well. Six of us rode there for lunch and music (bands every Sunday). A friend recommended the Signature Fish so many of us ordered it. Mine was blackened and really good. A few ordered fried and liked that too. Not a fan of battered fries but oh well. Sadly, our friend who suggested the fish ordered the dinner instead of the platter. She wanted the hush puppies and coleslaw but those didn't come. When she told the server, she just said "whatever" and threw someone else's food on the table. She did have the kitchen send out the missing items, but never returned to the table. Unfortunately that dominated our conversation throughout our stay. Beautiful view on the St. John's River where you will see gators swimming by. And lots of airboats zipping past. read more

Good for super casual fried food. It has a neat open seating (you can sit out on the deck under umbrellas, without umbrellas, or under a covered pavilion) with a view of the water and gators.
