We stopped by Lone Madrone because there was a "Bristol" sign out front, and we have a granddaughter named Bristol. We ended up getting a nice tour of the grounds, enjoyed a wine tasting, sampled the Bristol ciders, and feasted on a VERY tasty charcuterie board. The staff at Lone Madrone were very friendly and we enjoyed lots of wonderful conversation. When we left, we took a couple of bottles of wine and some of their Bristol cider to enjoy later. Oh, and it was so good, we became members of the wine club too. We've visited several of the wineries in Paso, and I think Lone Madrone might just be my favorite.

A girls weekend in Paso started with a patio tasting at Lone Madrone. Our server Mary walked us through some history and info on their dry farming and organic practices behind their wines. We tasted five wines and their English Bristols cider. My favs were the 2022 Estate Zinfandel and the 2022 Old Hat. I loved the fact that the winemaker's son designed the gorgeous label for the Zin, featuring a wreath of the cover crop they use in their organic vineyards. I got a bottle and once it's empty, I have plans to put some twinkly lights in it. It was disappointing that although the winery confirmed with our organizer that they had lunch available at the time of our Friday visit (we did have a reserved tasting reservation), it turned out that they were not serving lunch that day! But it ended up working out - we drove down the road and had an outstanding lunch with great cocktails at Barton's Kitchen.

Came this past weekend with friends for the soft opening of Kitchen 46. First time visiting this winery for me, my friends had been before and love their wine. Had a great tasting! Hannah was very knowledgeable about the wines they have. I drink mostly reds, but the chenin blanc and grenache were really tasty! Every taste was good! I shared a chicken sandwhich and salad with my friend, so so tasty! The sandwhich was perfect, I love slaw in my sandwhich. The aioli a dip was so good. The salad, very refreshing. My friend enjoyed their oysters and salmon dishes also. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice ambiance outside, would recommend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dog friendly patio too!!!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite part probably

Wow! What an unexpected surprise! This tasting room had fantastic wines. I was especially delighted by their 100% Grenache & Mourvedre and the Tannat-heavy Dodd. Great service in a delightful tasting room. Well worth the $25 tasting fee!

This spot was recommended to us by many on a previous trip to Paso, so on our most recent venture down this way, we made it stop number one! We stopped in on a Friday morning, didn't have a reservation, but they were able to take us for a tasting immediately. There was only one other group tasting while we were there, so getting a seat and help was no problem at all. They had a nice large outdoor patio and some high tops and bar seating inside the tasting room. It was a rainy day when we were here, so we enjoyed our tasting inside. We were helped by Donna, who had a plethora of knowledge about Lone Madrone and all the vineyards they work with. She lead a great tasting, and would sit with us to chat about each wine. Sadly we had another reservation scheduled so we couldn't stay too long, but she gave us a great sped up version, while still including quite a bit of information about each wine we were trying. The flight came with 5 wines and we got an off menu pour of a bottle they had opened. These weren't personally my favorite wines I had during the trip, but it was still a really great experience and I'd recommend this place to someone wanting to try a nice variety of wines. I did end up going home with a bottle of the Tannat - not a wine I've seen many times as a stand alone varietal!

One of my favorite wineries in Paso. Great family owned and operated business and now they have a new Chef at Kitchen 46! So freakin good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tasting room is beautiful, the wine is great and now with great food? Hard to beat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I left with the Chenin Blanc and cinsault.

Right off the main 46 highway this is a very laid back winery that serves decent food. Very big burgers and large plate of shoestring fries. They also carry some cool cider for tasting and my wife really likes the wines although they were a tad pricey for Paso.

This is one of our "must stops" when in the area. The wine is very good and if you are a cider drinker, this is the place. The Oveja is one of my favs in the region for a white. Mary and Court are so helpful!

Wine tasting with food pairing, December 2024
    Holly R.

We did the wine tasting plus food pairing and it was amazing! So much thought and flavor was put into the food itself, then to how it was paired with the food. When it came to purchasing the wine, it was incredibly difficult to choose which wines to buy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is also a very cute cat named Luna and the staff was really friendly & knowledgeable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The place is very busy. We opted for a wine tasting with lunch. They offered 5 wines and proper tasting pours. When we were seated, water was quickly served and we ordered their House-made Sourdough Focaccia which was served with lavender butter and lavender salt. That was very tasty - the lavender butter and salt worked well with the bread. My wife ordered the Duck Confit and I ordered the Bucatini Pasta which featured Mighty Cap Mushrooms. The sauce was very rich and flavorful. The pasta was cooked properly, and the mushrooms were just so good. The Duck Confit was similar - the duck leg was cooked properly, and worked great with the Heirloom tomatos and plum, all of which sat on a wild rice salad. You can skip the wine tasting and order drinks or wine off the menu if you want. Take a moment to walk around the grounds, look up at the ceiling work. They have have a shop with some neat winery stuff. Staff and service were excellent, and the menu and the food were outstanding!

They do not offer complimentary bread service. Bread is on the menu - House made sourdough focaccia with lavender butter. It was so good, totally worth the price. Slight crisp on the outside, spongy interior, but chewy from the sourdough gluten. Hint of sweet in the background. Butter is light and aromatic. This amazing dish is just the bread. Roasted Chicken was tender with a light sauce. Pasta with mushroom sounds simple but it was yummy and perfect. For wine tasting, they offered a complimentary welcome taste of Pino Rose, light and refreshing. The tasting had 4 wines, my favorite was the 2022 Reserve Chardonnay. It was buttery and smooth. The building, scenery of the vineyard hills, and the flower garden were all beautiful.

But alas, we finally made it happen, and we had such a great experience. The tasting room is beautiful and grand, it was so cool to hear about the building and how it was restored. Tastings are by appointment, which you can book and schedule online. When you arrive the gate is closed and you buzz in to let them know you're there, so I probably wouldn't try to just walk in. As we approached the tasting room someone met us outside with our first taste of wine, such a nice touch. We sat inside at one of the comfortable couch settings, but they also had bar seating and bigger tables larger groups. You are also able to take your wine outside and explore a little bit, which we did. We noticed other groups with dogs, so they are dog friendly even inside! We were helped by Taylor who led us through the tasting, which was already set up and ready to go at the table when we arrived. Even though the wines were all out, she stopped in as we worked our way through them to talk about them a bit more. Including the welcome pour when we arrive, the tasting menu had 2 whites and 3 reds when we were in. We ended up trying a couple other wines that weren't in the tasting, and ended up getting bottles of the sensibility from the menu and a zin that was and off menu pour. Would absolutely come back here for an elevated and sophisticated wine experience that doesn't feel stuffy at all.

The tasting room was named one the top #19 wineries in Architectural Digest (August 2018) in the WORLD! And #2 of the top #19. Now that's amazing and well deserved! Lacey was our tasting room host and she was wonderful! She knew all the history and well described the wines. She didn't rush us and encouraged us to relax, wander around, and enjoy the tastes. We were on the fence about one of the wines, and she offered us an older vintage so we would know how it would taste in 10 years! That worked! We were very impressed with their wines and they definitely sell themselves! The inside is very roomy and comfortable. There is also seating with nice views, should you want to relax outside. Definitely have added Epoch to our list of wines to buy and places to visit for future Paso trips!
