No one ever got back to us. Horrid way to treat club members. I have been trying to leave the club for over a year now. Guess what? No communication back. Now they are charging me for a club allocation I did not want, nor ok, and have in fact requested to not have. Don't go. Horrible winery. There are literally hundreds of wineries in Paso/Templeton that adore their club members. Halter Ranch, Opolo, Graveyard (our favorite), Onx, Sans Liege, Venteux, etc, etc. Skip this one.

We've been in for several tastings, sitting both inside or outside, and their staff is always fun and welcoming. And for us dog lovers, this dog-friendly space is always nice for a pet-fix. Their English Cream Golden Retrievers are also very welcoming and love to join in our conversations. Wine by the glass is also very nice, and have become a big fan of their Zinfandel, Grenache Blanc, Sparkling Rose, and Viognier.

I enjoyed learning about the Austin Hope winery and its origins. I felt like they grew in popularity quickly and threw up some barns to accommodate the crowds. For example, the bathroom wasn't well constructed as when people slammed the door shut, the walls shook. I can't imagine how the walls would shake if someone had a blowout here. Even with some of the downfalls, this was my favorite winery and I wish I could get some of the wines without joining the club. The commitment is too much and shipping is also high, so it's not worth it. The GSM was my favorite and if I ever see it somewhere, Ima get me some!

The service was very nice and said if we wanted to taste anything else then they'd be happy to let us sample. Now that's how you close a potential sale. I always see the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon in stores and was curious about how good their reserve is. spoiler, it is very good. THE FINAL BAMBOO: A wine tasting here is around $25 and the bottles range from $50+. I love Austin Hope's wine. Definitely a must visit and I will be back next time I'm in Paso.

The owner and wine-maker Neil (whose nickname is Clavo) was great to talk to. He let us try every wine - about 3 whites, 1 rose, 1 sparkling, 5 or 6 reds, and a port. We are kind of wine snobs and loved a lot of the wines. While we tasted (and we were the only visitors at the time), Neil told us stories about his wine and his dogs, Rory and Karma visited with us. They are very sweet older pups. Because Zack's dad is in the wine business, Neil offered us a 30% discount on the wines we purchased - so nice! We'd love to visit Neil and Clavo again and were so thankful for such a fun afternoon activity (and Neil even gave us caterer suggestions to we can label this stop "working on our wedding"!).

She's incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and clearly passionate about what she does. The way she spoke about Marin and everything that goes into the wines was so genuine and enthusiastic--it really elevated the whole experience. Her energy and customer service were top-notch from start to finish. My wife was in heaven the entire time. Her absolute favorite was the Grit and Grace bottle. The bottles labels are so pretty with so much color. The tasting room itself is small, but in the best way possible--super cozy, intimate, and welcoming. It feels like you're in someone's living room rather than a big commercial space, which made the whole thing feel special and personal. Highly recommend booking a tasting here, especially if you can get Natasha as your guide. We'll definitely be back! Cheers!

But alas, we finally made it happen, and we had such a great experience. The tasting room is beautiful and grand, it was so cool to hear about the building and how it was restored. Tastings are by appointment, which you can book and schedule online. When you arrive the gate is closed and you buzz in to let them know you're there, so I probably wouldn't try to just walk in. As we approached the tasting room someone met us outside with our first taste of wine, such a nice touch. We sat inside at one of the comfortable couch settings, but they also had bar seating and bigger tables larger groups. You are also able to take your wine outside and explore a little bit, which we did. We noticed other groups with dogs, so they are dog friendly even inside! We were helped by Taylor who led us through the tasting, which was already set up and ready to go at the table when we arrived. Even though the wines were all out, she stopped in as we worked our way through them to talk about them a bit more. Including the welcome pour when we arrive, the tasting menu had 2 whites and 3 reds when we were in. We ended up trying a couple other wines that weren't in the tasting, and ended up getting bottles of the sensibility from the menu and a zin that was and off menu pour. Would absolutely come back here for an elevated and sophisticated wine experience that doesn't feel stuffy at all.

The tasting room was named one the top #19 wineries in Architectural Digest (August 2018) in the WORLD! And #2 of the top #19. Now that's amazing and well deserved! Lacey was our tasting room host and she was wonderful! She knew all the history and well described the wines. She didn't rush us and encouraged us to relax, wander around, and enjoy the tastes. We were on the fence about one of the wines, and she offered us an older vintage so we would know how it would taste in 10 years! That worked! We were very impressed with their wines and they definitely sell themselves! The inside is very roomy and comfortable. There is also seating with nice views, should you want to relax outside. Definitely have added Epoch to our list of wines to buy and places to visit for future Paso trips!
