Really really delicious Bbq. We stopped here for lunch while in a roadtrip and it did not disappoint. We had the jalapeño poppers which were not your typical poppers. This thing was ACTUALLY a jalapeno filled with cream cheese, grilled and wrapped in bacon. Was it delicious? Yes. Was it spicy? Absolutely! They also have a bacon jalapeño sausage with the same concept. Sausage Filled with cream cheese jalapeño and wrapped in bacon. Again yummy but spicy af. Now the bbq was really delicious. Not every BBQ joint has the nerve to smoke turkey, but these guys do a really good job with their bird. Once I saw that big juicy turkey breast being carved to order, I knew I had to try it. Although the turkey was a real stand out, I was pleased with their ribs. They were cooked well and had a great smoke flavor that made up for the slight lack of dry rub. The brisket on the other hand was a dry disappointment. This leads me to the sauce. As other reviewers have pointed out, it's not a great sauce. I won't bore you with my preferences, but I will say that I recommend ordering it on the side. Speaking of sides....they were mediocre. I think a turkey or rib sandwich is a good way to go here. read more

This is the definition of a "Mom & Pop" restaurant. It is run by a great husband and wife. It is the best BBQ around and worth finding. I've never been disappointed when eating here whether dining in or picking up to-go. I've even ordered smoked turkey for Thanksgiving and it was a hit. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I'm no newcomer when it comes to judging BarBQ. Hands down, this is THE best tasting BarBQ in this part of Texas. First of all, the sauce does not make the BarBQ - although I happen to like their rather unique sauce. It's all in the meat preparations and smoking process. A good BarBQ needs no sauce. If you think that your brisket should be dripping with fat, this is not the place for you. And no one, smokes a better turkey breast than this place. The sides are awesome too. Especially the pinto beans and baked potato salad. Another thing / this place cares about presentation. They take their time to make sure the meats are sliced the correct thickness to get maximum flavor from each bite. No electric slicing machines here. And the meats are carefully placed on the plate or bun and not slapped down in a mad rush. This is not an "In & Out" BarBQ joint. They care about your eating experience. It might take a little longer to get through the line, but it is worth it. read more

I stopped by for some BBQ last week- hoping it would be the best I've had In awhile. While the meats were good- try the sliced turkey. It was super moist and delicious. The sausage was also fantastic. I also had the sliced beef, which seemed a bit dry to me --the sauce left something to be wanted. It was very thin. Almost so thin that it wouldn't actually soak into the meat-- just sort of "roll off." While the cashier/steamline women were fast and sweet, the guy cutting the meat was super slow-- most people only get 30 min for lunch and I ended up waiting in line a little over 15... Kind of ridiculous for BBQ-- when it's all premade and all you have to do is cut and serve. I realize they do the cutting as it's served to avoid drying out the meat, but certain things like the sausage can be cutt into links ahead. Just a thought. Overall; Id come back-- but not if I was in a hurry. read more

Whenever we come to this part of the town to work, we always drop by Lone Star for some pork ribs, sausage and such. I love most is the pork ribs...always moist, soft and flavourful. The barbecue sauce is very good. read more

We were excited to try this place. My husband had heard good things; I, on the other hand, had my doubts since I had never seen it busy the previous times we had passed by. So we decided to try it for lunch. Upon entering, we were greeted with this wonderful bbq aroma, and then it went downhill. Hubby ordered two meat plate - sausage & sliced brisket with cole slaw and green beans (canned of course.. and very bland). I ordered 1/4 lb of ribs, the deckle part of the brisket (this is the juicy, fatty part - but don't expect that here), and a turkey wing. Let me start with the brisket - D R Y! And the deckle part - they cut the top layer of fat off the brisket - uh hello! THAT is what keeps the brisket moist and tender!!! Very disappointing.. it was dry and bland... in fact, to us, all of the meats were bland - a little salt and black pepper wouldn't hurt before they threw that stuff in the smoker. Oh, and the turkey wing... it is listed for $2... good deal, right? That's what I thought, but they only gave me the drummette, not the entire wing... really? And the turkey was dry and tough - it definitely needed more "low and slow" time. The ribs needed seasoning and lacked smoke flavor. The sausage was probably the best tasting meat, but even at that, it was just "ok". I would check out DJ's or even Duran's in Angleton. read more

I got ribs and brisket. Meat was somewhat dry, but it did have a very good smoke flavor and wasn't too salty or fatty. Sides were fine; nothing spectacular. Lone Star has hands down the best ribs and banana pudding in the area. My first grader asks for their sausage specifically, other places won't do if they are closed. The staff remember us when we come in, and their attention to detail does not go unnoticed, I love that they make sure that every bite has the right mix of toppings on their sandwiches.
