We called at midnight last night and somebody answered and said they had vacancy. We did not have this experience in the other campgrounds in Amarillo. Other campgrounds didn't even have anything listed On their office showing vacancy spots or even a map of what they have open. Will definitely be stopping here again! The spot was $26/ night. The campground isn't fancy, but it's got great pull through sites with 30/50 amp power. We parked on the far left corner & had the best clear view of an open field. Very pretty, small trees. We paid the discounted passport America price, you just find your spot first, park, then walk over to the front office. You fill out an envelope with cash or check & put it in the slot. We didn't see anyone at the front office either of the two times we have camped here & that's just our style. They do offer free WiFi which wasn't too bad, except for peak hours. We loved staying here! I don't know if there are showers or laundry, because we live in our Motorhome & didn't need that anyways.

You CANNOT walk into it from this campground. Everywhere you look are NO TRESSPASSING signs all along the thing, which is super annoying. I chose this place to take the dogs on a nice walk into the canyon but seeing these red NO TRESSPASSING signs everywhere killed it for me. We also hit a horrible snow and ice storm staying here. I had no idea it was going to get so cold. My water hose froze to the RV and the pump. I had to use a lighter and grit to get it unstuck. This was the first RV park I ever stayed at. The fact that we couldn't go into the canyon really killed it. The weather didn't help but I know it's not their fault.

The management was friendly and assured me that all were welcome and speaking Latin was not a requirement. The sites are flat, with new water, electrical, and sewer hook-ups. This is a great place for a stop-over. There are no common bathroom or shower facilities but you can't beat the price. Maybe some would like more trees and shade; I thought it was great -- De gustibus non est disputantum !

Free breakfast every morning was delicious, as was the free Blue Bell ice cream every afternoon. Cabin has a small fridge, pod coffeemaker and complimentary pods (McDonald's), games, s'mores kit, flashlight (for nighttime trips to the bathroom), bug repellent, nice towels, and more, not to mention the comfortable beds. HVAC worked quietly and efficiently. Deck out front has BBQ pits and a fire pit along with rocking chairs and a hammock. ONLY complaint was that wasps kept swarming above our door every afternoon. Staff called park maintenance, who responded right away and sprayed. First day, ran out of spray and wasps returned. Second day, sprayed thoroughly and even climbed a ladder to knock down the nest. Yet they were back again the third day when maintenance doused everything in spray; could not sit outside after that and the wasps were still hanging around! That was the only blemish on an otherwise terrific experience.

Family of 6 and we took full advantage of the fridge, microwave, coffee maker (with all the supplies), propane grill and fire pit, nice covered porch with fun seating, plus so many fun games like corn hole and connect 4. There were even extra chairs to pull out when our family staying nearby came over for s'mores (supplies provided). LOVED that all extra bedding for the futon and towels and wash cloths were provided. There was also a bag of ice and jug of water included, plus bug spray, sunscreen, paper towels, hand sanitizer, hand soap, and sanitizer. We also took our 2 dogs and they enjoyed having the a/c and semi fenced yard which gave them a little boundary. The included ice cream and breakfast is yummy at the nearby Trading Post. We were in D and the walk to the bathroom was a little far, but manageable. If you have mobility issues or a tiny bladder, I would recommend trying for cabin A or B as they are closer to the Trading Post which has a bathroom you can use during their open hours and those cabins are also closer to the parking lot if you decide to drive to the nearby bathroom/shower area. The trail to the cabins is easily wheelchair friendly as it is well maintained and only one slight incline at the start. Another perk, to add to ALL the others, is the included wagon use which makes unloading a breeze. Seriously, this is a great place to stay and the views are breathtaking! The cabin is also beautifully decorated. Stay there, you won't regret it!! Yes, there is no bathroom (you can pay the $8 and use the camping toilet), but they are very upfront about that and it's not that big of a hassle unless you just want to be in your room the whole time. It was pricey, but with the added perks and benefit of being down in the canyon and near trails, we felt it was very fairly priced!
