Lazy ass worker! I came in with my bike with a new crank and I asked the guy if he can take off my old crank and replace it with my new one. All he did was looked at my new crank and said, "it doesn't fit, wrong size crank." In my head, I was like,"lazy ass bitch!" I used to come here for a cheap bike repair and had some decent work done. Then I walked in one day and tried to describe a problem I was having with one tire, which wasn't holding air and had a pinched nozzle that I couldn't extract from the rim. I figured it was something easy, I just didn't have the right tool for it. The repair guy listened to what I had to say, then went about looking for something for another customer that was at the counter, opening drawer after drawer of parts. After several minutes, I ask if he's interested in helping me fix the tire issue, and I tell him I'm willing to leave it for a day or two (as I certainly didn't expect him to drop everything that moment to immediately fix it). He brusquely tells me there's an air pump out front and goes back to his rummaging in a hojillion drawers of parts. Not quite sure why he's blowing me off, I ask, "So, should I take this to someone else to help me fix this tire that's not holding air when I fill it?" Another annoyed look that I dared to expect help with my bike here. "Yeah," he replies, as if I'm a simpleton for taking that long to figure it out, and goes back to rummaging through yet more drawers of parts. Don't need to ask me twice! With so many bike shops in LB, there's no reason at all to patronize ones that are rude to you. read more

Needed a bike, a beach cruiser in particular, to get around town and, well, cruise the beach. I shopped around town from the Shore to Dept. and discount stores when I discovered this hidden gem of a store. Walking down Broadway, I saw the bikes on the sidewalk and had to go in. I sorta knew what I wanted, a cruiser with speeds, and they had a nice variety of bikes ready to go. Prices were great compared to the Shore, maybe a little more than the huge stores, but I got the personal service I needed. The owner even told me to bring it back in about a month from now so he could tune it up for free. That wouldn't have happened at the big guys! It's been a few years since I've ridden much by bike, but living in the LB it seems like the thing to do. So I will be the guy on the shiny red cruiser (very Pee Wee Hermanesque) cruisin' the beach from downtown to the Shore! Don't laugh! read more

It was good. i got my wife's beach cruiser there. all steel and has steel wheels. that was the most important thing for me. the price was 189+tax they cleaned it up and made some adjustments on it. it gets used a lot. my wife is happy with it. im not sure how they would deal with her alone maybe good maybe bad. but for a fix and a tune up. sure. for a quick bike and a good price go here. i shopped everywhere before going here. about 5 stores and even target they were all over priced and just plain junk at some places like target and wal mart, all plastic and aluminum and soft metals. at the other big names around here there min price was 300.00+ for shit bikes or even the same bike i got here at long beach bike shop. read more

I'm super sketched out after reading so many negative reviews.. This place was nice to me... I might've been offered new parts but, I don't remember. The people who work here aren't very enthusiastic about selling but, I don't really know. They've certainly been nice to me. I got a total tune up for 100$ fixing I don't really remember everything that got fixed... Bearings needed to be replaced, realigned... Brakes needed to be replaced and adjusted.. I can see the sort of salesman thing that people referenced, I thought I saw for a moment but, like... I don't feel that was put onto me... Like I feel like I can just leave without a receipt an I'd get my bike back because he knows what hes doing... He certainly knows a lot about bikes.... I might start going elsewhere though; just because this is really uncomfortable to read. Maybe if ever getting my bike fixed again... I might get comparison quotes just so I don't feel so uncertain... This yelp page was super depressing to read.... I wanted to give more stars but, that makes me so uncomfortable like... I walked into this bike shop just to check out a bike to rent, possibly see if the had any Gary Fisher bikes for sale. First, they charge 8 bucks an hour for a bike rental- I don't know what it costs elsewhere but for the piece of junk i was offered I wouldn't have paid 8$ for the week. Oh, and he wanted 100 for the weeklong rental. WOW I then told the wife that I was looking to buy a mountain bike in the near future, and she spent the next few minutes trying to sell me some cheap excuse for a mountain bike, made in probably 1982, worth about 25 bucks. By this point, I was getting a little sick of the way the place was just a hotbox for their cigarette smoke, and the fact that the guy was trying to sell someone 20$ worth of equipment for oh... a hundred bucks (in fact, the guy even had to think about how much he thought he could upsell the guy). As I left to hop in the car, the guy finally decides I'm important enough to talk to and walks out to try to push this crappy bike on me, for $180! I couldn't believe the things I was hearing. Needless to say, if you want a junky used bike that is WAY overpriced- go here. Otherwise, I recommend anywhere else. cheers read more

I purchased a bike from LBBS some years ago and I brought it in for annual tune ups for past four years. I had felt the charges for this tune up was a bit much and notice that my brakes needed adjustment before last years tune up. I was charged for that separately. I had a broken spoke and when I came to pick up and pay my bill I was told if any others broke they would not be covered. I came by today as I needed brake pad replacements but upon being told of price I decided to try another shop, I shop owner at LBBS didn't seem to care one way or another. The shop I took it to was "My Bike" and I was told and observed some interesting things. First off the bike pads on my quality bike were cheap generic and my front brake cable was broken. I was also informed that a cleaning of my bike had never been really done even though I brought it in to LBBS for last four years. My brakes have never worked so well, I hardly have to touch them to stop. I realize that is probably due to new pads but also the oiling of all cables was needed as they were completely dry. This will prolong my brake system operation and was opinion of bike tech that had never been done. I would not recommend Long Beach Bike Shop to anyone wanting a professional job done read more

Came here a week ago on my walk home to check out the selection, the owner was super nice and showed me where everything was. I told him I would be back in a week as my partner and I were both looking. We came back today and the owner and whom I believe was his son were both there, they were super nice and let us test ride, also tuned up the bikes before we did. Long story short we both left with a brand new bike at a good price! I read these other reviews and I must say everyone sounds way too sensitive and privelaged. Basically the bad reviews are misleading. Remember the world does not revolve around you. I would recommend this to all my local friends. My family ordered a bike for my birthday around June. They payed up front and were told due to Covid-19, we will not be receiving it until mid- July. However, they failed to communicate with my family and when my family called, they had little to no updates on the bike. Now, it is mid- August, and our latest update is they are still unsure when we will be receiving our bike but it is guaranteed to come around December. They offered a full refund which was nice, but we are very disappointed in the lack of communication and poor service. read more

*****ONLY GAVE 1 STAR BECAUSE I HAD TO!!!****** Went in and bought a BMX bike for $200, left the shop and immediately into riding it brakes started screeching very loudly. Brought it back the next day to inform the man and have him fix it. I left it there for a few hours so he could repair it. After I picked it up, 20 minutes into riding it, the problem persisted. I didn't have time to go back to have him fix it AGAIN. So I dealt with the annoying noise. Turns out that the original brakes he sold me were already partially worn down, and cheap to begin with. Not to mention, the customer service was absolutely horrible! I would definitely NOT recommend this bike shop to anyone!!! read more

I was looking for a tandem fold able bike. They were listed as a dealer (only one within 50 miles) on the company web site. I went in and asked an employee for the same. He said it was in the front of the store. I looked all over the dozens of bikes in the front and couldn't find one. I went back, but now he was too busy playing with his cell phone to even look at me. Another employee then asked if she could help. I again asked for the same, and again was told it was in the front. (Twice no one offered to help me by coming with me-- you'd think if they want to sell a bike an employee would be trying to sell a customer already wanting to buy). I told them that I could not find one. The first guy, apparently finished with his cell phone email or games, said that it was up front. I then explained that I wanted a bike for two riders that folded up. He then said they didn't have any. I told them the name of the manufacturer and that they were listed as a dealer. At this time, a person I think was the owner, said that he didn't have any in stock, but could order them. I asked for his price and he said, "You can find out on the internet." He didn't seem really interested in helping me either. I left and bought the bike on-line from a different manufacturer. If they don't know the price of a bike they are supposedly a dealer for, don't want to help or do any research, don't want to take the time to engage me in conversation about the bike, then they don't want my custom or money. As bikes go, $600 isn't the top end, but is sure is a nice sale. read more

Not a place that has bikes that cost over 2 thousand dollars or is an authorized dealer of Giant. But it does sell old school ten speeds and cheaper new road bikes among many other bike styles like BMX and beach cruisers. Many different parts and accessories all over the place at prices that are pretty reasonable. The operator of this shop has been doing this for a long time and knows what hes doing. I had a problem with a gear on my bike and he showed me how to fix it without my bike even being there. The only problem I have with this place is the hours. It is sometimes closed when its supposed to be open. One time I saw one of those paper clocks with movable hands in the window that said "will be back at 3pm" and it was 4pm. read more

I needed to purchase a basic seat post to replace my girl's stolen seat. I had already purchased a seat elsewhere for 12 bucks. This guy offered me a new one for 20 bucks! I told him I wanted the basic post, not a diamond encrusted one. Anyways, I made it out of there spending 10 bucks instead (which is still too much). He will try and push the pricey stuff on you if you don't know. I would buy a complete bike here, as they are inexpensive. 3 stars for proximity, reliability, and longevity.
