She can also recommend herbs and dietary shifts. Come with questions and specific needs and she'll be a great source of wisdom. Her treatment room is a large space with 3 recliner chairs spaced out from each other that recline back very nicely. She still requires masks, which I appreciate ~ even vaccinated folks are still contracting COVID but I don't worry about spread of viruses when I come here. I was suffering from recurring migraines for over a year. Despite changing my diet and having been fully checked out my medical specialists, my migraines persisted. Long Beach Community Acupunture was recommended to me by a yoga instructor. I had never been treated using acupuncture before and as it's close by I decided to try it. I have been going for over two years now -treated by Susan and Nirva. They are great practitioners, who really listen and know their patient's ailments. My husband has started coming frequently and also appreciates the treatments he receives. Susan has referred some great naturopathic and alternative medicine doctors in the area as well so her team is really good about fostering community. As the clinic runs as a coop, it is a shared room. People know to come into their lobby quietly, speak in a low voice and have their mobile phones turned off. As another reviewer mentioned, they have online scheduling which is super easy but they also take phoned-in appointments. Checking in is quick and easy, the lobby is comfortable and quiet already priming you for a nice little nap as you are treated. As it is community acupuncture, treatment is on a reasonable sliding scale (so, no excuse that any form of self-care treatment is expensive). In the shared treatment room there are comfortable recliners as well as blankets and pillows for patient's use. Two hour street parking as available on Atlantic and you'll almost always find a spot especially if you come before 4:30PM. Otherwise there'a metered parking on the cross-streets. I have recommended people to receive treatment from Long Beach Acupuncture as I always leave feeling much better. YUP! The Gem of Long Beach. I got a July Special which allows me $5 sessions for $65. I think there is a one time consult fee as a new patient. However, this is the real deal. Susan is a very hard worker, knows her stuff, genuinely cares for her patients and the treatment really works. I have gone for about five to six treatments so far. Each experience was different and I have felt the sort of healing attributes that acupuncture does offer. Whether it is during or after effects. I can't say enough positive things about this place. Scheduling is super easy and convenient and you get an automatic Email reminder when your appointment is coming up. I've been going here for years. Susan is so wonderful. Her accupuncture services have helped me so much. It is incredible for stress and wellness. She also fixed an issue I was having with headaches. Another time she fixed a badly injured toe which actually didn't bruise thanks to the accupuncture treatment. She also treated a scar on my face from surgery. The clinic is very inviting and clean. I'm 29 years old and for as long as I can remember I always woke up tired, eyes burning, and in a grumpy mood. My sister recently had acupuncture in Oakland, and I decided to find a place in Long Beach to try it out. Most places were charging $75-$100 per session, but Long Beach Community Acupuncture charges on a sliding scale $15-$40, whatever you can afford. Figured it was worth a shot. You don't have to believe in acupuncture in order for it to work, I still don't understand how it works, but after my 1st session I felt a difference. I told Susan I wanted to work on my fatigue and my depression, and after 5 sessions I have noticed a huge difference. I feel rested when I wake up, I'm not struggling to get out of bed, I'm actually happy. I haven't changed anything else in my life, I still drink, eat junk food, do minimal exercise, and yet with just added two sessions a week, I feel happier in my life. I think acupuncture is a great way to kick start whatever change you are looking to make in your life. Showing up and resting in a recliner for 30-40 minutes is my new me time. I have had acupuncture many times and I know what a good treatment feels like. At LBCA I experienced this for sure! The environment is very relaxing, professional and the sense of community is encouraging. I felt confident sitting in the chair that I was being taken care of and after the needles were in I fell asleep and woke up feeling great! Susan is quite energetic and knowledgeable. I can tell that she truly cares for her patients and this came through during her attentive intake, while she inserted the needles and checked up on me during the treatment. I feel like the $25 I gave her for the treatment was a bargain and almost felt like it wasn't enough, even though her sliding scale is $15-$40. It certainly is rare that I rate any business as 5 stars. There are times when my headaches would cripple the strongest elephant. My regular doctor scheduled me for an MRI because the pain was so intense. The closest relief I found was the high-powered drugs. After tripping those drugs, I'd wake up in a gutter somewhere missing a shoe. On a recommendation, I stumbled into LBCA and met with Susan. Very kind, sweet and understanding. I never had acupuncture before but at this point I was so desperate I would sell my soul for some relief from the pain. Fortunately LBCA does not accept "soul" as payment. They have a sliding scale, based on what you can afford. I plunked down my money and let them go to work. I admit I was surprised by the communal area concept but once you close your eyes, focus on the music and the flowing water sounds you'd swear you were all alone. Everyone is quiet, respectful of others. Anyway, it worked. Within 10 minutes of leaving the facility, my headache was gone. Since then I've been back to the facility twice for related headaches. One thing I have noticed is that the headaches aren't nearly as intense as they were before. I don't know if that's because the acupuncture helps alleviate the problem rather than the symptoms or what. That's due to my ignorance. If this is your first time going to an acupuncture clinic, I highly recommend wearing flip-flops, shorts and a t-shirt. This will allow them to get access to those "points" they need to. read more

I love love love this place! It is affordable because of how they treat multiple people at once, and they have a sliding scale fee. There is plenty of off-street parking in the parking lot behind the building. I always become so relaxed during my acupuncture session that I could just fall asleep and melt into my big comfy chair. Susan is AMAZING!! I've had acupuncture before but I didn't really believe in it until I started coming here. I was suffering for a bad muscle spams in my neck and back and unbearable headache that came with them. I've been seeing Susan for about 3 weeks and I feel much better. I wasn't sure how the "community" setting will work out for me, but I never had to worry about it because everyone is so respectful of others and it is very quiet. I usually fall asleep every time, lol. I love that fact that she has a sliding scale of $15-45 (?). I wouldn't be able to afford it, otherwise since my insurance doesn't cover it. There are plenty of parking usually around the block. My only complaint will be that sometimes you have to wait a little because she also takes drop in patients and it can be crowded. But it's all good, It hasn't been more than 15 min so far. :) read more

These ladies are amazing!!! Everyone who works there is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. After we went over my medical history, we decided what to work on. One of those areas was my neck and I noticed a difference immediately. I know a lot of people are scared of needles, but these are very small. It feels like a small pinch when they go in. As, you lie there you won't feel them unless you shift positions and accidentally hit one of them. Other than that, it's pretty comfortable and relaxing. It's very easy to make your appointment--I did it online, but you also can call in and you can also make follow up appointments while you are there. Give yourself plenty of time to find parking because they don't have a parking lot. I also liked how affordable it was. In addition, with the sliding scale you can decide what you pay each time. You aren't treated any differently whether you decide to pay $15 or $40. It's collected right up front so you don't have to worry about and can just relax during the treatment. read more

During treatment in reclining chairs, I request a blanket for warmth and to encourage myself to relax and rest during treatment. I went to community acupuncture for back pain for around two months on a weekly basis, sometimes twice or three times a week. I am now not better off than when I first started going there. I saw a practitioner by the name of Nirva. I don't know if the other practitioners are better or not, all I know is that I would get better and than go right back to having pain again. Whatever she did, it did not work. I have received acupuncture plenty of times before and it's always worked. This was a waste of time and money. read more

It is worth noting that I have had acupuncture in the more private, traditional setting, but this is not that; and that's not a bad thing! The practitioner, Susan, was very sweet and took her time to speak with me and my laundry list of problems. She listened really intently and noted my ailments. Once we were done talking, we moved in to the communal space and I took a seat on a comfy recliner. I pulled up a blanket and got comfy. Susan applied her needles to various points on my arms and lower legs and ever so quickly I practically melted in to the chair. I must have dozed off because I woke up from my rest session feeling like I was floating on a cloud. It was a huge relief after suffering with a couple of injuries. I came here for my my dads acupuncture appointment and I was thoroughly impressed with the level of professionalism and compassion of the staff here! My dad had received acupuncture before so he knew what to expect, none the less, our acupuncturist, Nirva took the time to explain the whole process to us and patiently listened to my dad and the issues he wanted to address (the type of patience and understanding that many doctors don't always possess). I've been receiving acupuncture on and off for about 12 years now, for various ills, pains and conditions. Knee and hip pain, anxiety, migraines. I've been to formidable looking clinics and small practices but none quite like Long Beach Community Acupuncture. After coming here for about a month, I felt it was time to review! Was I a little wary about the "open room" experience? Sure. But one quickly grows acclimated to the peaceful environment that they have created. There's plenty of seating, but not so much that it ever feels crowded. I imagine there must be some decent behind-the-scenes crowd control because the room is never too busy. Everyone is mindful of one another's need for peace and relaxation; there is a general sense of community - but no forced or awkward socializing. It's all very natural. Susan is the practitioner I see and I must agree with everyone else; she's amazing. Her presence is soothing and wise. She listens, gives her opinion and never makes you feel judged or bullied into one or another treatment. Every time I speak to her I feel as if I am speaking to someone who truly cares about my physical and mental well-being. I'm a rather anxious, stressed out sort of person and yet I never leave an appointment with Susan feeling short of serene. Even when bogged down with a week long sinus infection, she made me feel at the top of my game. Results? Spectacular. I came in primarily for insomnia, from which I have been suffering for about 10 years. I have tried every natural and prescription remedy out there, as well as hypnosis, massage, meditation and yoga. Nothing worked and two hours of sleep every few nights were starting to have a negative impact on my tenuous grasp on sanity. Not two sessions in and I started sleeping five, than six, and now sometimes as many as nine hours a night. Even when sick, I managed to clock in a good 6 hours of sleep. Susan has also treated stress, anxiety, heart palpitations and cough/phlegm as they crept up in my life during our sessions. My recommended treatment program is about halfway through, but I can't imagine ending my sessions with Susan entirely - ever. It's been too much of a life changer. If you're wary about acupuncture, LBCA and Susan are a darn good place to give it a first (or second) shot. read more
