Roaches! This facility has roaches. My uncle was here. As I was visiting I saw roaches in his room. Bold enough to come out when the lights were on, which means full infestation. I would not recommend. He has bed sores over and over. Multiple infections. read more

I've been here over 7 months. I was in bad shape, I was hit by a car, while in a wheelchair. The staff has all had a hand in my recovery. Jackie, has helped me so much in so many ways. All the employees are well trained. They treat their patients really well and are very friendly and respectful. They are also fun to be with. Almost everyday I have different CNA and they make sure I am well taken cared of. What I like most about them was sometimes they make an effort to pass by my room to say hi or bye even when they're not my CNA that day or anybody I had met like the nurses, someone from the medical record, the therapist, the cook, even the administrator and people from housekeeping...were so nice and jolly. They all make you feel at home and they make sure you're okay. Some even like spending time with me in my room and even try to entertain me. Though I missed my family a lot (but my husband never missed a day to visit me and cooked delicious foods), I did not feel lonely staying there for a couple of months. They were all so nice to me, especially one person but I won't mention her name and she knows who she is. You all must have thought that I've forgotten you. The truth is not a day passes that I don't think of all of you. Thanks for the love and care you all have given and shown me. Take care and God bless you all. read more

I was admitted after a county hospital stay in January of 2024 waiting for both of my hips to be replaced. My experience was horrific, I pray that the recent good reviews are true, perhaps they have new management. I highly recommend anyone being placed there perform their due diligence and take a tour to ensure the changes are real. As for my experience...I was placed in a small room with 3 beds. The curtain touched my side mattress and the other side was too narrow to accommodate my wheelchair. One of my roommates had dementia and soiled herself so often that the smell never left the room. There was broken glass on the floor by my bed and I was told the brooms were locked up until Monday morning. My bed had no rails so I could not reposition myself independently nor could I enter my bed or sit myself up. There was a filthy Jack and Jill bathroom my room shared with three male patients in the adjacent room. The toilet was filthy, there were no bathroom wipes available, only the cheapest toilet paper that broke off square by square. The hallways were chock full of medical supplies and wheelchairs. The outdoor courtyard looked like a prison cellblock yard- no greenery or comfortable place to sit. I alerted the nurse when a weak patient started to standup from her wheelchair, who fell to the ground. She was whisked away as if to make me believe what I saw didn't happen. I left 36 hours after admission as none of the staff seemed concerned about my personal safety. I felt like I was living a nightmare the entire time I was there read more

when I first got to Long Beach healthcare, they were very kind. They help my love one with every need he needed. The hours were done daily, and my family member was well groomed. Jesus I don't even want to give them one star I wish I could give zero stars ,Call light buttons don't work. The trash cans are overfilled the drawers don't work everything is broken it's three beds in one room. No one knows what they're doing. They can't even find a bed pan I truly don't know why the government or the state doesn't shut this place down it's bad it's really bad my grand mother was here for rehab after hip surgery they did NOT give her her medications they didn't even know what she was there for the staff was asleep on the desk no one would come after I called multiple times and I'm a family member imagine your loved one! Jesus I decided to take her out of here will be back tomorrow to take her home. I feel so sorry for the patients here may god shut this place down. This please is unethical. It's really disturbing to see this and not be able to do anything about it. I will be reporting to state hopefully they care. read more

I will give a 0 star. This place is careless please do not take your love ones here. My father felt couple days ago he was in the hospital for 10 days he was stable, alert, vitals were regular, then he was discharge to this facility for PT and for 3 days I was trying to get information regarding my father they will always put me on hold and never return calls. Finally one Friday I was sable to get appointment to go see my father I found my father completely sedated and after I left facility 3 hrs later my father passed away. It only took them 3'days to kill my father When we arrived there we found out 2 other patients had passed away less than 24 hrs! How do you explain that ??? Please Do not take your family members to this nightmare place! All staff is careless. If you care and love your love ones please do not take them here. If I could give this place a 0 I would. They brought my dad here because he needed special care after being discharged from Harbor. He arrived Tuesday well and talking, in pain but he was well, by Thursday he was heavily cedated and by Friday they called us telling us he was unresponsive and they were going to call paramedics, my dad passed away under their care!!! When my sister arrive very distraught she asked the nurse what happened and a patient from the other room screamed saying the nurse was lying and they killed my dad just like they had killed other patients that morning. While we waited for the morgue to arrive another person passed away. According to a nurse they are yo check on the patients every 2 hours!!!! They wouldn't tell us how my dad died. 11 days later and after many calls from the morgue they provided the death certificate. Don't bring ur love one here unless u want them to die!!! read more

Worst place! Don't let your loved one get stuck in this horrible abusive facility! My brother had a stroke at age 53, and has been here for a year and a half. He screams help when I go to visit, has taught himself some words like yes, no, thank you, I love you, please. He can understand and hold a conversation and reply, but desperately needs speech therapy. He taught himself how to wheel himself around in a wheelchair with the hand that still works. We were told by the facility that he is not eligible for speech therapy, but I called some other facilities and they said something doesn't sound right. Long Beach Care Center would not even provide the insurance information to my mom nor me. He is not married so we are appointed to make medical decisions on his behalf. I had to research and find out he has CalOptima which does offer speech therapy. When I spoke to his primary physician today she asked me why we wanted him to have speech therapy??? I said "what if it was your brother sitting in there crying because he can't communicate but we know he can understand everything and he's learned words on his own why don't you want him to have speech therapy?" I spoke with Zeny at Long Beach Care Center in the morning letting her know that the referral needs to be to the doctor within 48 hours otherwise I have no other choice than to contact the state for help, and coincidentally when o followed back up with the doctor a few hours later Dr. Lorraine Diego said that Zeny had messaged her that my brother needed a sedative, but no mention of the speech therapy referral we had just spoken about??!! It was like pulling teeth to get her to send over a referral! read more

I would give Hillcrest 0 stars if it were possible. While not new or fancy, at first i thought it was a good place for my father in law, it seemed clean and well staffed. But, as time went on, he developed some issues of a sensitive nature. I guess too much for them to handle, so they made up an excuse to send him to the hospital. He hadnt fallen or anything like that. Two days later, they refused to let him come back. Total blindsided eviction! The doctor, my husband and the social worker had to scramble to find another place that worked with medicare, his insurance, etc. How a place thats supposed to care for our elderly can toss them away so easily is beyond me. read more

The center primarily focuses on MS rehabilitation and care. Hillcrest is a very sad and depressing place. I do not recommend this facility to anyone. The five star medicare rating is very misleading. My experience was very poor. The administrator and DON were misleading and ultimately untrustworthy. I had a relative at Hillcrest. He was not ambulatory, but was able to be understood and could understand others. He was not incontinent. CNAs expected him to use diapers to relieve himself because they wouldn't make time to take him to the only toilet. I was yelled at multiple times by rude staff when I asked for assistance on behalf of my family member. They lost two items of clothing within the first week, and never replaced them or reimbursed us for the cost. These items were very dear to my relative. There are many rns and lvns on staff, but they stand at the nursing stations and don't help residents. CNAs do all the work, but most have very bad attitudes towards residents and families. I encountered one caregiver who had confidence and a truly caring demeanor. The other CNAs I encountered were either just out of training and very inexperienced, or super rude and aggressive. I witnessed nurses harass and intimidate residents on multiple occasions. It was very scary. I witnessed a resident's bloody bandage come undone and get caught in his wheelchair. As he yelled for help a nurse just sat there at ignored him until my family demanded she respond and help the man. It was awful! The director of nursing wanted to give my family member chemical restraints on the first day because he was unable to find the call button and was calling out for assistance. When we disagreed with her plan, we were received nasty attitudes from nurses we had never met, and could hear them openly complaining about us to others. They were very gossipy and unprofessional. The Director of Nursing does not seem to care about residents well being. The facility is very run down and thread-bare. The facility places 4 - 6 people in rooms that would normally hold 2-3 people. My relative was given very old blankets with cigarette holes in them. Beds are right next to each other with only a curtain for privacy, while everyone is using diapers to relieve themselves. It was gross to say the least. The owner puts no money into maintaining the facility or fixing repairs. There are very few working toilets in the building and they are reserved for staff only. It took over a week to turn the heat on during a cold snap last winter. Nurses and residents had to wear coats and hats inside! They also have some random guy who manages the facility. After the administrator leaves for the day, he goofs off and rides an electric wheelchair around the building, completely disrespecting those who are no longer mobile. The food served is cheap, reheated frozen and canned industrial meals with no flavor. The only saving grace for more mobile residents is the excellent Mexican restaurant across the street. The only reason why I gave this place one star is I have to put something to write a review. Let me start off by saying my father was brought there. I have pictures but I don't want to put my father out there. And I also have video of a male nurse named JURY!!!!!!! Who went to change my dads diaper and put the pillow on his face keep in mind my dad can't move or talk. I have pictures of bed sores they never rotated sides of my dad. My dad would have a shitty diaper for hours. It's hot as hell in there. The worse place ever please don't ever send your loved ones there. I promise u will regret it. I wouldn't even send my worst enemy. There's a place diagonal across from railroad tracks check out that place it's way better. I have made police reports. And the manager there's says I'm sorry I know how it's like my parents were in a nursing home. That's all he said. Oh and when my dad passed away they accused me of stealing an oxygen machine. They had police come to my house. But mind u a nurse watched me and helped me gather all my dads belongings. So how could I take it or why would I even want it they bothered me for a year. That place is a nightmare and so are the people that u can barely understand. That's all thanks for reading. read more
