I came here on a whim of getting my first tattoo and we just took whoever was available who happened to be Splinter. I didn't realize until a few days after that some blowout had occurred in the beak area.l, some of the lines are uneven in thickness and the same goes for my boyfriends tattoo that he got. Both of our tattoos were in an etched style which is not Splinters normal style so I understand if he's not used to doing tattoos like this and it reflects on the quality I just wish he would've mentioned it or said something about the blowout. I did reach out to the shop and Splinter on instagram but didn't get a reply. I don't think anyone here is a bad artist, would just recommend staying within their style. read more

After explaining everything I need to know, we got started. I am new to this, but I know how to evaluate a person's work ethic. Throughout the session, I observed Splinter. I can honestly say that he is not about making money He takes pride at his work. I can tell that he loves his job since he is about the Art of Tattoo. Splinter made sure that all the details, shard points, edges, the curves are perfect. He also made sure that the shading are completely filled. He was not at any rush at all. He is making sure that the finish product is an art, not an income at the end of the day! I am already thinking of getting another one in the near future. Excellent experience. My friend and I went to get tattoos and theyre both infected and the ink is coming out of mine. It is a lot of pain and discomfort and now is scarring. Nice hidden tattoo shop. I came here for my first tattoo and it was an okay experience. The tattoo itself is awesome and I love it, but professionalism was lacking a bit. I only say this because the guy who did my tattoo never gave me clear answers to the questions I had. He was a little too much of a joker and I was a nervous wreck the whole time, so the joking would've been okay but not while I'm clearly nervous. He was also flirting a little too much with my friends WHILE he had the needle on my back! Wow. He wanted to make sure that I was satisfied with the final drawing and placement. And of course, RELAX, just relax haha. I went with my two friends and it was just a fun experience because he's a great person to talk too while you're getting tattooed. Compared to Outer Limits Long Beach, it is quite different. Extremely professional from everyone I have encountered there, great prices for the quality of work (don't forget people you get what you pay for!) and super friendly atmosphere. Definitely a place you can hang out and shoot the shit with the artists. As for quality of work put it this way, tattoos like my Heath Ledger Joker portrait, I got it done 5 years ago and last night I still get people tripping balls over it, asking where I got it and taking pictures of it. I checked out his work on Facebook, and loved what he did - very painterly. He really took the time to understand what I wanted and I am amazed at his ability with shadowing and color blending. He is really passionate and an artist. He was also very friendly and made me feel completely comfortable about the process. And I am generally very squeamish about needles and such, and was kinda nervous. If I get another tattoo, I'd be sure to go back. read more

Honestly, I wanted to like this place. I went and told the guy ( I think he called himself diablo.. whatever) exactly what I wanted.. I even drew it out for him. When we talked about it, he was being pretty controlling telling me to just let him do it and tbat he was the artist blah blah. When I told him what colors I wanted the bird to be he told me I didnt know what I was talking about. He then asked me to come back in a few days because he was going to draw it out so i could see it. Okay cool. I come back somewhat excited in spite of his attitude.. the drawing was NOTHING ... and I mean NOTHING like what I asked for. I was so upset I didnt even fight for my deposit back. Not to mention the prices are affordable and you get the best quality work unlike those other shops like one that I went to in downtown Long Beach where the artists were rather arrogant.
