I don't know how long he's been a tow truck driver but he didn't know what he was doing & didn't like someone else telling him a better easier way!! He started yelling that he was going to leave and he was there to help us. No sir you were being paid to do your job. But the guy that came to pick up my second car, Ian was FANTASTIC!! He got my car loaded by himself in about 5 mins! He was so nice & helpful. So, if you get John as your tow truck driver be ready for a jerk! I hope you get Ian!!

But my wife remained calm and sweet and came up with legitimate ideas and solutions while I totally freaked out on a number of customer service reps on the phone. Progressive insurance failed us in the worst way and the worst time. But Gary's Classic Towing, out of Astoria, are the best and the brightest of the North coast. They got us on the road and then guided us through side roads, so we could navigate to the tire shop... cuz we only had 5 wheels... on a vehicle that usually features 6 wheels. A shiny new flatbed truck, painted with an American flag motif...perhaps there was an eagle too...with its lights flashing... escorted us all the way there at 15 MPH. I put in a request for roadside assistance and before the app even updated, I got a call from George (the owner I later learned) asking me to send a location pin so he could expedite a driver if possible. There were 4 people in my party, more than the AAA app allows you to report for needing a ride, but George said it wouldn't be a problem. Drivers Frank & Andy helped us, both were so friendly, patient, and professional, total life savers. Andy drove us over 80 miles back home, and somehow parked my SUV perfectly in the one open spot at the mechanic shop. I am sooooo grateful for Hill Towing!!! They deserve all the stars!!!

Grant at Rod's called us back and said he no longer did mobile calls, but if we could get it off and bring it in he would test it. We brought it in, it tested good and was charging. Grant spent a good 20 minutes explaining that he thought it might be the tension on the belt looking at the wear on pulley wheel. Put it back on tensioned belts, charging at max output. No cost. Customer service at its best.

The receptionist said they were very busy, but would really love to try to get me in today if at all possible. She looked through her schedule for the day, and surprisingly she asked if I could make it in today at 2:30 PM. I did. Then, after doing her best to work me into a very busy schedule, the mechanic fixed me right up in a very short time. The receptionist was caring and friendly, the mechanic was competent and professional. This is now my new preferred auto repair shop. Highly recommended.
