In the restaurant business, we all have a switch: once the doors open, it flips. Until then, you're seeing people exactly as they are. This team is genuine. Hands down. Yes, I know, I'm technically here for a king cake. Standing in line for a king cake from a famous fried chicken company almost feels satirical. But watching the entire team sit down together for a meal an hour before service told me everything I needed to know about the leadership and the values of this company. People matter here. You can see why the sandwiches are as good as they are. You can feel why the king cake is worth the wait. This team operates like a family; kind to one another, intentional, and connected. The food is made with care because the people are cared for. I'm not here to review the food (which is phenomenal) or the king cake. I'm here to review the brand. This is the kind of business we should be proud to support as a community. Keep it up.

I also like that they feature a daily special that isn't on the regular menu--it adds a nice element of variety. Everything is cooked to order, which is definitely a plus. Just keep in mind that most of the menu is fried, so this isn't the place to go if you're looking for a particularly healthy meal.

I've heard a lot about this place in my Louisiana hometown for years. During every Mardi Gras…read moreseason, they became popular for their homemade king cakes. Also, they serve up breakfast and lunch. I actually ate one of their breakfast plates last year when I was here for Christmas and enjoyed it. During my recent visit for the week, I decided to order from them. Let's see how the visits turned out. For takeout orders, you can call since they don't have a website. No major issue there. And your order will be ready in less than 10 minutes. Definitely not bad. Also, you have the option to do drive-thru service or walk-in. Inside, they have tables, flatscreen TV's and have a desert selection at the counter. For all my selections, I ordered a breakfast plate which consisted of grits, protein (sausage patties for me), scrambled eggs and biscuit or toast. All for $10. Homecooked and really good. And a welcoming staff when you enter the building or drive-thru. Can't beat that. I am so thankful this place is in my hometown. Local spots are where you can get a homecooked meal compared to home. This will be a go-to for yours truly the next time I come into town. Till next time :)

This time I…read moredecided to try something different and go for the seafood combo plate and unfortunately I was sadly disappointed. Upon arrival I was never acknowledged by the cashier which started the conversation with " what would you like to order?" Rather than some sort of a warm welcome, that those around the town have been accustomed to. Since this was after lunch, the ambience was pretty laid-back and there really wasn't anyone in the lobby area. So there was a lady in the lobby sweeping the floor. I really do appreciate the cleanliness of the place. When I ordered the seafood combo plate, I asked what I could get with it. The cashier proceeded to give me various types of combos and I chose to get the shrimp and oysters. I ask her about the size of the shrimp, and she proceeded to go into a freezer and pull out a bag of popcorn shrimp and another bag of oysters. This was highly disappointing. Being in southern Louisiana, which is known for its nice size shrimp, crabs, and other seafood. I thought I'd be getting some fresh batter fried shrimp and oysters. Instead, I ended up with some frozen rubbery shrimp and semi burnt oysters. What a disappointment this was! The french fries were also overcooked and quite rubbery which didn't help this experience. This goes to show you that although Glyn's driving is a good place to go to for hamburgers, seafood definitely is NOT one of their specialties. I also think it's pretty overpriced for what I received considered this is southern Louisiana. I paid approximately $14.00 for 6 popcorn shrimp and 6 oysters with French fries which were all out of a freezer bag. What happened to Glynn's quality of seafood? This place used to be the talk of the town as a part of the place to eat for seafood and hamburgers. Now I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one complaining about the quality of food I received. Especially the seafood. I would only recommend going here for the shakes, as well as the different variety of hamburgers. But by all means a highly encourage you to stay away from their overly priced misrepresentation of Louisiana seafood.

This is a casual place that makes you feel like you are in someone's back yard. Fold out tables and plastic ware make for easy cleanup, but don't let that put you off! The smothered porkchops in a single meal were enough for 2; heavy, smothered in brown gravy and flat out delicious! Paired with sweet potato casserole and fried okra (my choices) I only wish I wore stretchy pants. That food is for certain some kind of stick to your ribs (and your butt too) that you just can't say no to. If you leave hungry, that's on you.

If that was wrong I couldn't have imagined it being more than $15. We got the chicken that came with rice and gravy which was decent. The Mac and cheese was okay but didn't seem homemade. The sweet potato casserole had the look and consistency of baby food. While the lady helping us was real nice in the beginning, for some reason it felt like there was a shift. It was supposed to come with a complimentary dessert which was not offered. We chose to pay the bill with cash even though it seemed like we were being taken advantage of. One meal and 2 waters was $28. I left there very disappointed and wouldn't encourage anyone to eat there.
