What's not so good: I cannot test out of the belay lesson class? I've been climbing and belaying longer than this place has been in business, but I need to wait for certain days of the week and a specific time to enroll in a safety course that I have literally been TEACHING for decades. I'm limited to your autobelay routes and bouldering routes. Fail. A "members only" piece of workout equipment in my face on the first floor? Not ideal. Move this stuff somewhere else. It does not give a welcoming feeling. Only ONE staff person working in the entire gym? If there was a second worker then we didn't notice it because they aren't in any kind of uniform. You're wasting a lot of your wall space. You have a bouldering area beneath plenty of wall that has no holds on it. It just looks like someone's a bit lazy in here. Where are your route setters? What's good: There are a lot of autobelay climbs. There are some fun boulder problems. The price is $20 per day (when you bring your own gear) which is reasonable compared with other gyms. We have been many times in the past but had not gone in over a year. My son, for Father's Day, said he would pay for us to go. It is a fantastic workout and provides multiple levels of climbs. I still think about this place from time to time and wish my current city had a gym like this. I like that they offer both top rope climbing and bouldering, as well as lead climbing which I have not done. I mainly prefer top rope, but like a bit of bouldering as well. The entire staff is great, to include the manager and the owner. All are friendly, laid back, and helpful. The other climbers are also all really cool and nice here. The only potential downside is that the routes are too easy(no room for growth I suppose) for advanced climbers(I know this because I was talking to someone who was there who was climbing the more difficult routes with ease and that was his complaint), which won't be an issue for me. The first time I ever went indoor rock climbing, I was surprised to see so many people just sitting or laying down and not climbing. If this is your first time, you will quickly understand that it can be pretty tiring. Also, watching other climbers is a good way to learn what to do. read more

I bought a Groupon which was $20 for an all day pass with gear for two people. It was my first time indoor rock climbing and we were there for over four hours! It was pretty fun. The introductory class took about thirty minutes. There were only two employees working at the time but they were friendly and helpful. I had no problem doing the Groupon with them. Def wear workout clothes or something comfortable because you will get hot and sweaty climbing! They offered a a forty-five minute to an hour free class of belaying but my boyfriend and I declined at first. There's about eight to ten ropes that you can climb on which doesn't require belaying anyone. We realized after we did all the ones we could do that there were many more we could climb if we did the belaying class. So we told the employee we were interested and he rounded up a couple of other people to do the class with us. After the introduction talk through about belaying, we are then separated with our partners and it's a one on one after that. The instructor worked with me until I felt confident and I didn't feel rushed at all. I wasn't quite getting it at first but he went over it with me many times and didn't make me feel bad. The staff really cares about safety and that's super important! They offer memberships with a year contract too. Also, if you check in and like them on Facebook you can get a free bottle of water. If you're looking for something different and fun to do, definitely come here! It was fun and I will be coming back! read more

Pet rocks galore!!! :) Spent the afternoon climbing, belaying and smiling. The employees were very nice and welcoming. Dave gave detailed instructions on bouldering and auto-belaying and cut us loose to have some fun. Dress accordingly! No jeans or hoochie clothes! This is a workout, not a beauty contest. Be careful Don't even consider signing up for a membership from here. You will never be able to cancel and will end up paying $$$$$thousands$$$$$ afterward. Everyone there is nice but if the manager isn't there then your screwed. They use a third party billing that may or may not decide to let you leave whenever they want. The facility is a fun spot for friends and kids too, just pay as you go so their billing company doesn't rob you when you leave. read more

The staff is SO wonderful! One of the staff spent 20 minutes with me on the phone while I picked his brain about my 3 year old coming in. He gave great advice and our first trip was very successful! My little guy exhausted himself. I recommend calling ahead and checking if they have parties that day because it can be so packed and frustrating with many unsupervised (rude) children who don't share and scramble all over the rock boulder in other's way. My biggest improvement would be areas with multiple foot/hand holds on the bottom so the little ones can have more "bouldering" variety. We kind of get stuck in the same two areas. The price is a little high, so it's not a weekly hobby. The first time we went, they had the garage door up. I wish they had it up the second time we went too! The fresh air and natural light helps lot. read more

What a great and friendly gym. We were visiting the area from Utah and needed a climbing fix. The staff made us feel welcome and were accommodating to our large family. The facility had quality climbs, ample auto-belay routes, and good bouldering. The staff took time to engage with us and show us good routes and help with the challenging routes. Sneak up to the work out area to up the pump after your wall time. We highly recommend this place if you're looking for a climbing fix in central Texas. read more

While in town we took 2 teenage boys (15&17), a 12 year old niece, and a 10 year old nephew. They had a blast. The staff are very friendly and professional in the quick tour and training. They have walls for everyone from novice to advanced. The facility is not huge, but easily can accommodate 30+ at any time. If you want to climb all the faces, get someone to get certified as a top rope belayer. We'll come back in the future! Be sure to take some drinks and snacks, they supply everything you need to climb, but no food or drinks, just a water fountain. read more

My experience here was great! I went with two of my girl friends from college and none of us knew anything about rock climbing, but it wasn't a problem at all. Enjoyed climbing here! Can't say much about the prices because we were there on guest passes, but the facility was nice and the staff was friendly. We had a lot of fun, and on a late Sunday afternoon, it was nearly empty for us to enjoy. Jen and Maddie made me feel welcome even though I am a complete newbie. Jen was patient explaining how to try the different types of climbing options and offered gentle coaching and support. Maddie also helped me learn about the equipment and the different levels of this sport. I feel sore all over but I'd love to come back and try again. The gym is compact and clean, the other patrons are friendly, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to try climbing. I had my daughter's 6th birthday party here. The staff were amazing! They taught all of the kids about climbing safety and fit them in their harnesses. They had a belay class for the parents. Everybody had so much fun. We even had a disabled friend attend the party and the staff hooked her up in a harness and belayed her up so she could also participate. I plan to go back and my daughter wants to have her party there every year. read more

I can't tell you how much fun my best friend and I had at Boulders!! We decided to take all 4 of the children we had with us and it was amazing. The owner Eric was there and he helped us himself. He made it look so easy that each and every child made it all the way to the top several times. Boulders teach climbing safety and the science behind how to use your body to climb in order to be successful. The very, very best part of the whole day was when I looked down from one of the observation decks and realized that just about every child in the entire building was laying spread eagle on the floor from exhalation. Definitely a great place, especially for bouldering but also good for top-rope (I don't know enough about lead to comment). They take safety training very seriously. Staff is friendly. Rental equipment is in good shape. The two times we were there were weekdays, and it wasn't at all crowded. There is a decent number of auto-belays (if memory serves me, their auto-belays mainly go with 5.8-5.9 routes). Top-rope route rating consistency appears to be good (I didn't check bouldering). On a minor note, both my son and I like the surprise of the occasional cute animal-shaped hold that one comes upon when climbing. In general, it's a really good place to take children, but also good for adults to climb. read more

If you are one who likes being adventurous and trying new things Boulders is the place to go. A billboard on the side of the interstate caught my eye and triggered my curiosity. So upon arriving to Boulders with my boyfriend their building was adorned with a cool painting of blue skies and wicked cliffs in which I was digging. Let me start out by stating that we had not had any previous climbing, belaying, or harness education, if you haven't either, don't sweat it, they will take good care of you. So we get inside and fill out paperwork and paid for what they call "the whole shebang" (You can check out their rates and classes online before going) in which entails proper beginners education on everything you need to know to climb, understanding the rope systems and if you're feeling extra feisty you can go through belaying instructions and walk through with the instructor. So enough about that and moving along, we were given harnesses and climbing shoes (be sure to bring socks if your flip floppin' it!) and had an instructor explain all that we needed to know to climb. He was thorough and walked through everything. After we had grasp the our new found knowledge we had free reign of the gym to be little spidermans in training! Rock climbing is not only a GREAT physical workout but an exceptional mental work out. If you enjoy physical activities and problem solving GET IN THE CAR AND GET TO CLIMBING! Only reviewing the functional fitness classes. These classes are outstanding body weight and kettlebell, medicine ball, plyo stand, resistance band etc. fitness classes. I never realized how much simple body weight exercises in different combinations could get your heart rate as high and maintain it as if you are running suicide drills. I never know what to expect and I never leave feeling I have not done an exhausting workout. The three main instructors Mike, Ellis, and Preston are outstanding and have different strengths and focuses so that in the three classes during a week you challenge each part of the body in several different ways. These classes not only build strength but endurance and flexibility also. There are several different workouts with different focuses, durations, and amount of exercises and after 6 weeks I have not repeated one yet. One workout was 4 five minute drills that consist of 5 one minute exercises with no rest in between. Each drill has a 90 second rest following completion. It consisted of Burpees with pushup and jump, mountain climbers, front squat with a weight you can do for one minute without sacrificing form, reverse crunch, and 50ft rope interval exercise. This class is perfect for improving strength, endurance, and to teach you to move better with your body. It also is excellent for losing weight. You build muscle while maintaining intensity to keep the cardio system thoroughly engaged. There are no static or isolation exercises, only complex and full body exercises. Not a pretty place. This is a working gym class. Expect to sweat and move your body in ways you never imagined it could do. read more
