I have been going to this Long Dog Fat Cat for almost 6 months to buy food and get my Labrador a self wash. EVERY SINGLE TIME we are there, we are treated FANTASTICALLY. Shout out to Justin who is always SO kind and thoughtful. Consistently he helps me grab my large (and heavy) bag of dog food off my shoulder while we're checking out and more often than not helps me to my car while I've got my big dog on leash next to me. The self wash room is amazing for my dog who is easily excitable, separating us from other things to focus on the wash. It's always clean and ready to go for us, and if not, Justin has always been on top of it, getting us freshly dried towels, or finishing a satiation process to ensure everything is clean for us. I have sincerely appreciated the thought and care that Justin had when helping us out each time we go in!! read more

The manager is extremely knowledgeable about everything in the store from where the dog food is made to the ingredients in the food. He also had such great advice for a new puppy parent like myself. I wanted a couple of chewy treats for my dogs so I stopped in here after lunch. One of my dogs is a very strong chewer, and the other one is not. The strong chewer is also grabby, and likes to get the other dog's chew toy the same time. He will carry them both around in his mouth. Luckily the other dog is very mellow and this does not result in fights. Today I found one bone shaped thingie that said it was for a very strong chewer. On the recommendation of the store clerk, the other dog ended up with a freeze dried duck neck, which kind of grossed me out. I appreciated that the clerk knew the stock in the store and was able to direct me. Both dogs loved their treats. I need to remember that this nicely appointed store is not that far from my house. They also do nail trims. read more

I assumed because of the location that prices would be through the woof (sorry!) but I stopped in to look around and found a great deal on a faux fur trimmed black parka for my BFF Riley. He got to try it on for fit and style, which everyone knows is hugely important when shopping for clothes. The nice lady that's always working here and the groomer love Riley, which makes them wonderful people in my book. Shop local, and bring your pet. One of our furry friends was struggling with a liver problem and diarrhea unfortunately, however, Long Dog Fat Cat had many different options between food and treats that was vet recommended! So many unique treats for your dogs between pig ears and cupcakes! My dog especially likes that that the bones are low to the ground so he can pick out his treats for himself! The groomers here are great. We come here to get the dogs nails trimmed and the groomer is always able to keep the dogs relaxed. LDFC took over the spot at MC that was once Three Dog Bakery and Spa. Sadly both Three Dog locations closed about a year or so ago. This is the third LDFC location, the other two are at Village Point and Loveland neighborhood. This pet store is mainly for dogs and cats. They don't source for other animals or exotic pets. They have boutique style foods which I find more nutritious and ethical than some of the big box stores brands. They also have a selection of dog accessories likes toys, chews and grooming supplies. One thing that sets them apart from other doggy stores is the bakery! They make the cutest cookies themed with the time of year, and even make birthday or celebration cakes for your animals for a big event. Make sure to check out their store at Midtown Crossing the next time you're there. read more

I cannot believe I have yet to review LDFC. This place is the bees knees. Eric and Justin are amazing and so full of knowledge. Alyssa is also a terrific groomer and they take great care of my Three dachshunds !!!! Highly recommend long dog for all your pet needs ! This Long Dog Fat Cat inhabits the space formally occupied by our sorely missed Three Dog Bakery. What I really liked about Three Dog was that it had Spaw, which provided grooming services, and I feel squicked out about trimming my dog's nails, so I liked that I could buy pet supplies and get his shit taken care of, all in one go. But the lady at Spaw was honest enough to tell me that it looked like our dog's nails wore down enough on their own through normal wear and tear that he didn't really need to have them clipped. So I guess my boyfriend just didn't want to admit that our wood floors are just that shitty. :P Anyhow, knowing that the dog's nail maintenance is handled by his exercise and tearing up our wood floors makes it easier for me to hand a 5-star to Long Dog Fat Cat. There are other grooming places close enough. While I miss Three Dog Bakery, Long Dog Fat Cat offers the same quality brands, and friendly, helpful service. They have all the snooty brands you want for your best pal, even if said pal would be happy eating diapers and wood filings, as mine has demonstrated. Were you also a fan of the former resident, the new occupant isn't that different. The layout has changed, but that's about it! I have been looking for a void to fill Three Dog Bakery, and Long Dog Fat Cat has done that literally. read more

I came in looking for a pupcake, I left with a cake, two pup cakes and dry frozen chicken treats! This is my new favorite spot for puppy treats. I was welcomed into the store, there was conversation from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. This store is amazing. My boxer pup has allergies and I was so nervous, he loved it they listed off ingredients without a sheet in front of them as well as assuring me it was grain free. I couldn't be happier. I have been going here to have my dog groomed for a year. I left a message Monday and asked them to call me back. I finally had to call them back Wednesday morning. They had no room to groom my puppy. I wouldn't not of been upset if they would of just returned the call, I could of found someone eles. So I guess they no longer think customer service is important. As a cat owner (no dog, yet!) this review is geared to reflect that. Let me rip the band-aid off and say that frustration temps me to give this place a lesser score. They have great staff, cat food options, supplements, some treats... but like, no cat toys. A wall of dog toys but nothing for cats. The only reason I'm refraining is because what they are doing right they are doing VERY right. That said, I'd sell my soul if only one of these natural pet food stores around Omaha carried some damn cat toys. I'd like to drop money at a locally owned spot but I'm left making a second trip to Petco again and again because feather toys and such are destructible and require constant replacing. Repeat business I'm sure Petco benefits greatly from. If the owner sees this: please consider finding a couple proper feather toys. Ideally they'd use mostly natural materials (no need for my cat to eat plastic feathers), not too pricey because you have to constantly buy them, and stock it. No need for a billion varieties, just get me a couple good options. P.S.: Justin is amazing, give them a raise. read more

Not much to say about this place except that it is AMAZING! I've never met a more loving and knowledgeable staff either. Any question I had when it came to my fur child was immediately answered and effectively as well. They treated my pupper as if he was part of the family, and loved hanging out with him while we were roaming the store. He may have received some free treats as well. This place is great. I was fostering kittens and needed a formula for the babies on super short notice. I came in right at close and explained my situation to Justin. He was great, explained what options were out on the market and what they carried. He found not one but two different options of fermented cow and goat milk for my fosters! LDFC has a wide array of food, toys and treats for dogs and cats, including locally-made treats that can be custom-made. And special orders are always a possibility!
