The locals love it and during warm weather days, it's busy especially during and after dinner hours. Their frozen custard is creamy and flavorful. They have a wonderful variety of rotating flavors and on Fridays, they alternate between Butter Pecan and Pistachio flavors. They have a nice menu variety and the pricing is very reasonable. They also have frozen pints in which you can also usually find the Flavor of the Day from the previous day. The service is friendly and good. Yum, yum, yum! It was a beautiful day and we wanted some ice cream. This little ice cream haven is on the side of the road with ample parking. The customer service was great as well. The customer service was great and served with a smile. Their menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I ordered a jumbo root beer float with their vanilla custard, the hubs ordered a jumbo lucky charms milkshake. Both were decadent and oh so yummy! My hubs loved his lucky charms milkshake and I absolutely loved my float as well. The custard is definitely a standout here and we will definitely be back throughout the summer! Greg's is a post (or pre) dinner must for me! They have the best quality custard in the area hands down, and are ranked #6 in the nation. They carry vanilla and chocolate custard and a rotating flavor of the day. The BEST flavor is raspberry and you can't go wrong with a dip/hardshell with it. Other excellent flavors I've had are rocky road, pistachio, butter pecan, butterfinger, and blueberry to name a few. Their staff is attentive and friendly and service is quick. Now everyone, I mean everyone that personally knows me has heard me rave about a frozen custard shop in Coneaut Lake, PA outside of Meadville (north of Pittsburgh). Their menu is pretty extensive with different combinations and toppings. From what I saw there is vanilla or chocolate based custard. The line is wrapped around the building in the parking lot, but it does move fast. On the wall they have a sign of the top 10 custard places in the USA, ranked by a magazine . At number 6 falls Greg's Frozen Custard! Ironically, I scrolled up the list and at number 2... Hank's'! Small world! I went with the volcano cup. It's a build your own. I got vanilla custard, peanut butter blended in, and fudge. My stepdaughter got the Turtle based custard sundae. My wife got the banana split. First off the, the banana split is huge. It's the old fashioned size. Absolutely delicious with fresh strawberries and pineapples falling over the creamiest vanilla custard!!! My stepdaughter and wife loved the Turtle and caramel sundae. It had vanilla custard with pecans. Mmmm. My volcano cup was AMAZING! That custard was absolutely delicious and smooth. The peanut butter was perfectly infused into the custard. No chucks of peanut butter leaving some bites full peanut butter while other bites nothing... it was blended perfectly! The fudge was a delight that perfected my sundae!!! The only negative to this experience was when we got to the front of the line there were 3 windows taking orders. 2 girls were busting their butts with smiles. The third window had a a girl talking to her 2 friends for over 5 minutes ignoring the line where people were standing for over 20 minutes in the heat. Overall, it didn't matter.. the wait was worth it! I'm so happy we found this amazing place for custard. I will say Hanks still has the edge due to freshness and just... you have to try it to understand. But Greg's is a very close 2nd in my opinion. There are only 2 base flavors, vanilla and chocolate, but with mix-ins and Sundar toppings, there are SO may varieties to choose from. Of course, there are many special "named" sundaes, but mine had caramel, bananas and cinnamon on top. I added coconut. We came here after dinner, and there was such a long line - I was getting kind of nervous/stressed that we wouldn't make it, as there was only about 15 minutes until closing. Either way, the frozen custard was delicious, dense, and creamy, and they were super heavy-handed with the toppings. The pecans did have a slight bitter taste, though. The staff here are very friendly, and they do have items, made-to-order; that's why the wait time can be long. There are some tables and chairs under a veranda, and a few benches. In regards to parking, there are a few spots in the front, but more parking in the rear. On hot days, there's always a line and there is no drive through (this ain't McDonalds). I don't think I've had the same thing twice here and know that I can go almost every day and never get the same thing twice. Their fruit flavored stuff is refreshing while their chocolatey concoctions are perfectly sweet. If there is a line, feel free to look at what the flavors of the day are and look at the menu instead of reaching the front AND THEN deciding. You just piss everyone off. Finally we were able to visit this place! We could see it on the left, but since it's on the west of the road, it was a bit difficult to get to if you are coming up from the south. The staff was very helpful and friendly, clear in their communication. As first-timers to a menu full of options, we were overwhelmed initially, but we tried their best seller the Turtle custard, a mini mint Oreo, and a dairy free option. The regular size is pretty big, feeds me and my 2 toddlers. The mini-size is also pretty sizable, much bigger than grocery store gelato's mini size. Turtle custard-- this was soooo fantastic. Not just the creaminess and smoothness of the custard, but it's the pecans! They are toasted so light and crunchy, I've never had a pecan in a wet media this light and crunchy, the texture was perfect. I'm really amazed by this alone. Strawberry/pineapple swirl sorbet (dairy free)-- my husband was also blown away about how good this was. Typically sorbets are watery or has a prominent water/ice texture, but their sorbet was so smooth in texture, has the creaminess just like ice cream, so you can't tell at all it's water-based. Mint Oreo-- this is what you'd expect, a good balance between the mint and the chocolate flavor. We are thoroughly impressed by the custard made here. We showed up right when it opened in the morning and got it to go home to eat. Next time we will try to eat it right away since some started melting already. We will for sure be back! read more
