A very quaint cafe in the historic long grove town. Love the vibe, although there were just so many menu boards, we couldn't really figure out which ones to look at. It's nice that they were able to substitute with oat dairy-free milk options. We tried black coffee, Dubai chocolate latte, and highway to heaven (cardamom rose) latter. All were pretty good but pretty light in terms of flavor. The black coffee was more roasted/burnt than we anticipated but it wasn't bitter or overroasted so we were pretty happy with the flavor. I was hoping the Dubai had crunchy strands inside, it didn't. It's more like a darker version of hot cocoa, but didn't stand out. The cardamom rose latte wasn't bad but a bit light and watery on the flavor also, for my preference. The fig nut your day bagel was pretty good, balanced flavor and texture but can get pretty heavy after a while. The plant power sandwich was not bad either, with the hummus and greens (arugula and cucumber). Pickled onion was good. Overall doesn't stand out much but not bad for a local cafe. They do have a few interesting options we wished we saw earlier, like their seasonal salads. Blu Fig is an adorable cafe with plenty of character and a lot to offer. Seating is tight, and limited, but my friend and I were able to find a spot for brunch at 10am on a Monday over winter break. The price tracks with other cafes in the area, with my total being $22 (plus tip) for a sandwich and a smoothie. The sandwich itself was delicious. I love anything pickled, so the addition of peperoncini and picked onions hit the spot. The smoothie, honestly, didn't have much flavor ... it was like sipping on green ice. Not worth the price, in my opinion. They offer 21+ beverage options, and the presentation of their lattes and coffees are on point. Came out to Blu Fig Cafe after seeing their amazing reviews to enjoy some coffee. The shop is tucked away in a scenic area of Downtown Long Grove. They had a decent amount of seating inside as well as tables/chairs outside to enjoy the weather. They offer a variety of simple breakfast food and sandwiches as well as coffee and tea options. The girl working the counter was very to the point and not very cheery. I ordered the 12oz Rose Cardamon Latte which lacked having much flavor. They used purchased syrups but wish it had more of a punch. They open air roast all their coffee beans but my coffee was either a darker roast than I'm used to or something gave it a more burnt taste. The rose petals are cute but annoying to drink around. My husband got a Chai Latte which used Tazo concentrate and was basic. Our two drinks were about $11 which was great value! While my experience wasn't ideal, others seem to thoroughly enjoy so don't count Blu Fig Cafe out! read more

Came in for some coffee and scone on the 4th of July. Not very busy. Rude service . The young brunette cashier looked miserable and barely spoke. No hello or thank you. Even after I tipped her which I definitely shouldn't have based on her attitude she didn't say thank you or have a nice day. I would give it 5 stars but I just have to bump it down because the avocado toast had avocado dip/spread and not fresh avocados. If I had been told, it would have been ok. I ordered the Cappuccino, Lox & Bagel, and the Classic Breakfast Bagel. The Classic Breakfast Bagel was a simple choice, but DELICIOUS, warm, and comforting. Then you have the Lox & Bagel, which was outstanding. Each and every ingredient, especially the lox, was clearly fresh. It was also beautifully presented. And the Cappuccino - this was the best cappuccino I've had in a very long time. Really, whenever I order cappuccinos at the cafes and shops near me it's like people don't know how to make a proper one. They always make cappuccinos too milky where you can barely taste the coffee - but here, they got it exactly right. The balance of espresso to foam was spot-on - it wasn't drowned in milk, it was a true cappuccino. And that made all the difference. I would come back just for that. I wasn't expecting to be this taken with Blu Fig Cafe, but here we are. It's one of those places that reminds you how much joy can come from something as simple as a great bagel, a perfect cup of coffee, and a fresh take on the classics. This isn't just breakfast. This was a cute little cafe. We stopped here during the Long Grove Apple Fest. A breakfast sandwich sounded yummy, but they make it with over easy eggs and that's something I can't abide. So instead I ordered the turkey club, and it was delicious. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade and that was good too. They had something called a French hot dog, which I bought for my daughter because it was something she could easily hold and nibble on which she did rather contentedly. (A French hot dog appears to be a hot dog wrapped in a baguette-like bread.) The inside of the cafe was not too large, but the tables weren't on top of one another either. There is an outdoor seating area that was nice and comfortable. I would visit the Blu Fig again if I'm around Long Grove. read more

We came to Blu Fig Cafe for lunch. It has a super cute warm atmosphere and the staff was great. We had the avocado toast, the Fig jam bagel with almond butter, and the plant powered sandwich. I am currently visiting downtown Arlington Heights and did a Google search online for coffee shops near me and I was extremely elated to find this cozy space. The owner is European and is extremely welcoming and kind to all her guests. I wasn't hungry or I may have wanted a croissant but I was there to try an iced latte drink and asked if she had any rose infused drinks. She suggested a Raspberry rose latte and I asked for it on ice. Drinks are not served in mugs or glasses here but served in plastic containers. My drink was not only extremely tasty and sweet but it was prepared with love and dried rose petals. What compels me to leave 5 stars is the fact that the owner/ barrista took the time to answer her phone before I arrived. You see on Sunday I wanted to try another coffee shop in Long Grove but my Uber Driver was lost and another shop refused to answer their phones making me lose an opportunity to visit. The owner here is hard working, serves delicious drinks intuitively knows how you like it and the atmosphere is extremely cozy and welcoming. There is also a large outside garden area and when weather permits this week I will be returning here with my dog to enjoy the garden area. There were a few people seated outside with their pups so this cafe is dog friendly in the outside patio area. This cafe appears to be a local favorite in Long Grove Village. I was heading out towards the Long Grove area this morning, and was looking for something a little different for breakfast. In searching for "bagels" in this vicinity on Yelp, Blu Fig Cafe popped up and it sounded interesting. It's right in the heart of downtown Long Grove and parking was a breeze. Despite the somewhat cool temperature, there were a couple people eating outside in the patio area, with a lovely view. The inside of this cafe is homey and lovely, with limited but comfortable indoor seating. I ordered my sandwich along with an iced white chocolate raspberry beverage. The owner took my order and had me sit down, offering to bring me the food and drink to my table. It was ready in no time. It was beautiful to look at, and quite tasty. I especially love when the lox looks so good and clean. The bagel was fresh and lightly toasted. It was delicious! You could tell the other patrons were enjoying themselves and were most likely regular customers. I know that I certainly would be, if I lived near here. The place is clean, scenic, and very homey, with no pretentiousness. It's a great spot to grab coffee or related beverages with friends or family, and there are some interesting sandwiches on the menu as well. The owners were courteous and efficient. I met a friend here about a month ago. But before I go on, I want to preface that I'm not a big coffee drinker. In fact, if I'm gonna be totally honest, I really don't like coffee. I'll drink a mocha with oat milk and an extra shot of chocolate to overwhelm the coffee flavor and will do it hot or cold. I'll get a hot apple cider if a place has it or a good hot cup of hot chocolate. Blu Fig is nestled in the tiny Mill Shops in Long Grove. The main parking lot is already inadequate to handle everything here especially Joanie's Pizza and Broken Earth Winery. However, Blu Fig is a nice addition. The small coffee shop is on the corner when you first pull into the lot and its windows and entryway face inward to the parking area and not out onto one of the two main roads in downtown Long Grove. I arrived after my friend and ordered what I mentioned above and asked for a piece of lemon cake (pound cake). To say that both were delicious is an understatement. The mocha was made with love. Not just because they put a heart in the foam on top, but it tasted that way. They took their time perfecting my cup o'mocha and brought it to me in a to go cup with the top off to showcase their heart. The pastry was delicious and is sourced from the bakery a few doors down. It's a quaint spot with 15-20 seats. The owners (a couple) pour their heart and soul into Blu Fig and you can certainly tell. Wi-fi is available and is a great nook for reading, working, meeting friends, and to start or end your day. read more

It is on the smaller side and has about 15-20 indoor seats. There are also a couple of tables and chairs on their outdoor patio. It is super cute and nicely decorated inside. It's also along the river so the outside is equally as beautiful. I tried the chai latte for my drink and it was tasty! Pretty standard drink but they do it well. For food I tried the lox and bagel breakfast sandwich and that was very filling and delicious. The food took awhile to come out however this is a small business so I expected that. They are a small business, and I try to support local coffee shops as much as I can. We were greeted warmly when we entered. I finally decided on a classic bagel minus the meat and a white mocha latte. They have a good selection of drinks and food and it was hard to choose. The prices reflect them being a small business. They have to make their money to stay afloat. So yes it's slightly more expensive than other places but I can see why. Depending on how busy they are, the food can take a little bit of time, but the drinks came out right away. I was pleasantly surprised with their classic bagel and latte. All I can say is good things about this place. It's a cute cafe. What sets apart this place is the specialty coffees they have. They have a menu for bagels, sandwiches and sweets but you have to try their unique menu of coffee drinks. We had a go at their iced caramel macchiato and an order of their Lox and Bagel. It is a bit small for a big group but if it is just for a coffee solo or duo date, you should be fine. If you ask for to to eat/drink inside, they bring the food/drink to you. With a water mill outside and french music (I think it was french) inside, I thought it was a pleasant experience.
