Long Hollow Ranch provides a taste of the Old West and appeals to visitors fondly remembering those old John Wayne westerns and life on the range. The majority of their business is focused on guests who are staying at the ranch (many from overseas) who want to go on longer trail rides or an old fashioned cattle drive a la City Slickers. Since we already have a home in the area, we didn't get to take advantage of their hospitality as guests. However, we did visit to enjoy a trail ride. My boys love to ride, but it has been quite difficult finding a trail ride that satisfies all of our needs. We've tried Diane's Riding Place, but they tend to be more instructional. The stables at the Seventh Mountain Resort were only OK. My goal was to get more of an 'authentic' trail ride with a little bit of fun. We were only partially successful. First off, making reservations wasn't terribly easy. After calling the main business line, I was given a second number to dial for the stables. Since the focus is on their ranch guests, they don't seem to be overly eager to take outside riders. Fortunately, some of those guests had another activity planned, so we were able to arrange a ride. It turned out to be semi-private and Katie was a wonderful guide. You will sign a brief liability waiver, and riders must wear jeans and boots. The boots requirement was a first, but fortunately they have plenty to borrow at no charge. Children are also required to wear helmets. The ranch covers 600 acres, so they took a gentle ride up through the hills to enjoy the view of the Three Sisters. It was a good ride, but low on the excitement factor. No cantering or galloping, just an easy mosey up and back. Unlike the prior reviewer, the ride lasted exactly 60 minutes, so no complaints there. It is really disappointing that there aren't more horseback riding options in the area. These hills are filled with ranches, but due to liability concerns, very few open their doors to the public. This place was EXACTLY what we were looking for on our way home from our family vacation. We wanted somewhere quiet to lay our heads down, somewhere 'different' than the normal hotel scene, and a place that our kids would remember. The Long Hollow Ranch checked every one of those boxes. We stayed in the Homestead cabin, which had three beds upstairs, and one downstairs. The cabin had two strong window AC units, which were wonderful. The cabin had no TV, which was great, but did have a vintage stove that served as a table top for the in-room microwave. There's also a mini-fridge and a Keurig Coffee Maker. Beds were comfy, bathroom has hot water in the shower, and the decor was fantastic. The morning breakfast was signaled by a good old-fashioned dinner bell at the main house, which is beautiful. There were lots of hash browns, fruit, juice and more. They even offered to cook each of us an egg to order, which our son took advantage of. The breakfast was absolutely great. All in all, this place was well worth the price, which was already much lower than other places on our trip. They even let us dabble with our fly pole in their bass pond free of charge. They accommodated our late check in (10 PM) and even had the AC going when we arrived. Customer service was top notch. This is the definition of a 5 STAR property. read more

I experienced a wonderful four night stay at Oregon's only accredited Dude Ranch. The husband and wife host team were incredibly nice, as were all who worked there. It was my first time on a horse and the riding guides were very patient and comforting. I wasn't ready for the six hour cattle drive, but it's a definite recommend if you're an experienced rider. I moderately enjoyed a fly fishing lesson, but unfortunately the wind was blowing so hard that day that it made the first time a bit cumbersome. Nevertheless, the guide was super nice and a good conversationalist. There are several mini-lakes stocked with trout and bass on the property; you do not fish in a river. My cute room with private bath was more than adequate. Get a sense of the topography and history of the region by reading the ample found literature. The food ranged from average to excellent, no disappointments. The green chili breakfast frittata and dinner roast beef/pot roast were super delicious. Eating in the company of other guests made it that much better. Besides the fly fishing outing, my only minor other let down was the lack of wi-fi. On the one hand, "unplugging" is very beneficial. On the other, it made mapping/planning my off ranch activities a little frustrating. Be sure to visit their gift shop, spend time in the hammock, and check out the alpaca farm about two miles away. read more

We stayed in the Homestead House which comfortably sleeps six. At this rustic cabin we really felt like we stepped back in time. With its rocking chair on the porch, wood paneled walls, and an antique stove inside. We had our own kitchenette but we didn't really use it because the meals were prepared for us at the main house. This is not your usual bed and breakfast where you only get breakfast in the morning. Here at Long Hollow Ranch you get all your meals. The fascinating thing about the meals here is that a lot of the ingredients are grown at the gardens. As a result you get a true farm to fork experience. The food was amazing, the view was breathtaking, and the company so kind. We had a wonderful and relaxing experience here.There are three ponds on the property. There is a pond with trout and two ponds with bass. In order for kids to have an enjoyable experience we decided to fish for bass. And oh boy did they have an amazing time. Peter caught and released 16 bass. He got enough action that he wanted to go fishing again after dinner. You can say he was hooked on bass fishing. read more

We held our daughter's wedding at Long Hollow Ranch in July 2021. We looked at several Central Oregon wedding venues before discovering Long Hollow. From the beginning, driving down the beautiful driveway to the gorgeous vintage barn, we fell in love with the venue! Larry was amazing to work with and so accommodating of our every need. We made several trips out to the ranch during the 9 months leading up to the wedding, to look around and plan layout, etc. Larry always greeted us with a friendly "hello" and checked in to see if we needed anything. Just prior to my daughter's wedding, they repainted and restored the front of the barn, and it looked even more amazing than before -- which I didn't think was possible. We also booked out the entire ranch for the weekend, so we were able to use all three houses/cottages on the property for the entire weekend. It was so perfect to have family and friends staying on the property, being able to do the setup the day before, and being able to do the rehearsal and dinner there on Friday night. Some friends and I wanted to get out of town (Bend) and head out to the country (Sisters) for some horse-riding. We made a reservation- wasn't real clear on what to expect, what to do when we arrived or really much of anything. When we arrived, we were open minded and knew one thing- we'd be riding for 1 hr and have some fun. That is not exactly how things actually happened. We arrived and there were people around but only one lady preparing our 4 hourses and it seemed to take forever and we just seemed to stand around for quite a while. By the time we all got on our horses, did a few basic maneuvers, we were on our way... Just hitting the trail, the leader asked the main lady what the time frame was and she said 30 min...although we paid for an hour??? None of wanted to speak up- not sure why... So the actual time of horses was about 1/2 of what we expected but overal it was "ok"- not likely that we'll be back if we ever wanted to ride horses again. When the ride was over, they followed up to confirm payment on 1 credit card for all of us, and I restated my credit card number and advised that we only rhode for 30 min and he said that he would "look into it"- Regardless we had fun, even if it wasn't exactly what we expected... read more

We spent a little weekend-trip from Portland and would highly recommend spending some time there. It was a very tranquil experience, and a very non-invasive B&B atmosphere. Often folks who run them are so chatty it's hard to relax, and while taking some time to breathe it's nice to, well, breathe. The food was great and the owners incredibly sweet. The beds are so comfortable we are going to buy a mattress from the same company when in town next. If you're looking for a good place to rest with a 20ish minute drive to Bend, this is it. read more

I brought my twin 7 year old girls here for their first horseback riding lesson and they had a wonderful time. Sarah was so patient with them as they were very nervous and by the end of the lesson they were smiling and feeling comfortable around their horse. Had a wonderful stay. They were so gracious and hospitable and made us feel at home. They fit us in extremely last minute and we were able to stay in a camper RV that they had on site because the B&B was full. We loved it! Never stayed in an RV before and it was a total novelty to us but it was perfect. It is a great place to stay if you plan on driving around and exploring the Sisters/Bend area. We had never been to this part of Oregon before and were blown away by the beauty of the desert and volcanic geography in the area. Highly recommend staying at the ranch. read more

I recently stayed at the Long Hollow Ranch as part of a group of 14. We were hosted by the owners, Dick and Shirley, were very gracious hosts. I stayed in their RV campsite which provided all of the required hook-ups. The setting was beautiful, the hospitality, food, and all accommodations were great. Holding meetings in the barn was a unique experience and provided a unique experience.
