Sweet potato tots and jalapeño poppers
    Kate J.

Went on a Saturday and it was a packed house. The sweet potato tots, jalapeño poppers and cheese burger all had good flavor. There were a lot of options for beer and cider which was also nice. One downfall was because it was busy, they were short staffed and menus are all online which are sometimes not user friendly depending on cellular service (we didn't have an issue). I did see that they have a few rooms and they look cute and cozy! I highly recommend stopping in for a drink or two.

    Microwaved pretzel with no sauce.

We stayed at the hotel and were excited to try the food since it looked great online. To start, we ordered a pretzel, but unfortunately, what we received was disappointing--it tasted like it had been microwaved and came with only a tiny amount of cheese sauce, as shown in the photo. We didn't even touch the sauce because there was barely any to begin with. Our waitress was kind and apologetic, offering more sauce, but by that point, we decided to just send it back. The experience left a bad taste in our mouths, so we chose to leave. As for the hotel itself, it's decent and has a great location in the heart of Sisters, which is a plus. However, based on our dining experience, we wouldn't recommend the food.

Food was really good, service too. The hotel stay (RM 101) was almost flawless, at $350 a bit steep but secure and modern. Only issue was the shower head (needs refresh - it's tired as hell) and the drain, standing in water was weird. Work on it and you'd get 6 stars. Was a 5/5.

Super disappointed. My family and I were visiting from Portland and wanted a good lunch. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. My family elderly mother wanted a menu but all they offer are QR codes to scan with your phone. I also overheard other older patrons asking for menus, so I know we weren't the only ones wanting one. Then they have a self service water station, no ice. It was close to 90 degrees out and no AC. Ice is a must! Then I wanted a veggie burger that I saw on the menu outside, they were out. The food and service was mediocre.

Food was great I got fish and chips it was bomb no cap on bro I bussed it dowwwn lady with tats is sick she was cool gave great service and good vibes dude never thought I would like tarter sauce till now they got 9 TVs playing nine different sports I even saw pro kickball great experience great place would come back 10/10

Really enjoy this restaurant in sisters, although the menu seems small there is a wide range of options available and everything I have tried is good. My favorite to note thus far is the barbecue options. Had the sample platter which feeds two at least, and comes with chips and the sweet potato tots (which I loveeee) ! However I knocked a star because the service isn't as memorable as most other restaurants in sisters and considering most of the food is bar style fried food it is quite pricey.

This burger came with BACON , PEANUT BUTTER AND MARION BERRY JAM people !!!

The table was filled with breakfast favorites. We ordered hotcakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and huevos rancheros. A couple of morning cocktails also made an appearance, including Cottonwood's version of a Bloody Mary and a rum-infused mocha. The huevos rancheros had a bit more kick than expected, but it worked. Our server was fun and easy to chat with, which added to the relaxed feel of the morning. Nobody rushed us, and breakfast with friends is one of those things that shouldn't be rushed. Will we be back? Probably. Cottonwood Cafe feels like a place where locals and visitors can both feel at home, and it was a nice way to wrap up another great trip to Sisters. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, and everything the four of us ordered was, too. Everything was cooked well and presented attractively. I highly recommend visiting Cottonwood outside of weekend mornings when all such restaurants are at their busiest. In that way you avoid long waits and possible disappointments. But, DO GO.

Update review. We keep getting a male server who is stressed out and impatient. Makes us feel…read morerushed. Acts like he's a great waiter and like we're unworthy customers. He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

The vibe was peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Service was attentive, though a bit on the slower side, we waited almost an hour for the main course. They do have a kitchen break between 3:30-4:30 PM, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit during peak hours. The food was fresh, flavorful, and creatively presented--it's clear the chef enjoys experimenting with unique flavor combinations. My husband tried the seafood lasagna, which was a tasty and satisfying treat. The scallops dish was also delicious, though slightly too salty for my taste and quite light--it came with a small amount of polenta and a vegetable purée, so I found myself a bit hungry afterward. Many people around us were ordering pasta, and it looked fantastic--definitely something I'd love to try next time. Overall, a beautiful place with great food and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommend!
