March 4 2023 Back in December 2022, I contacted this jewelry store specifically to order a designer ring by Steven Douglas, who is my favorite designer. Long Jewelers was very prompt in providing a quote which I appreciated. I was interested in the cherub angel ring, which is actually discontinued now, but Steven Douglas himself created my ring from his archives. I was pleased with Haley at the jewelry store who I worked with via email. The ring took a little bit over six weeks to create due to the Garnet needing to be sourced. It was well worth the wait and even more beautiful than I could have imagined. An appraisal was even provided. I have been wanting this ring for probably 15 years. Over the years, I've noticed it's becoming harder and harder to find, so this was the year I decided to splurge. This particular ring is available in sterling, silver, and also solid gold with the heart being solid gold as well. What made me fall in love with this ring is the contrast of the white gold crown with diamonds and also the beautiful deep cabochon Garnet heart that really makes the ring so special and unforgettable. I thank everyone at Long jewelers who assisted in obtaining this gorgeous ring for me and also, I will tell you that I quoted this ring from several jewelry stores and Long Jewelers - Virginia beat everyone else's price.The ring is by no means inexpensive, so it pays to shop around, and there are only so many Steven Douglas dealers who can provide this beautiful ring. read more

Long Jewelers Persevere The battery in my older Movado watch was replaced while traveling out of state. After a few weeks the watch started to randomly stop and start. Took it to Long's on the Blvd. and reviewed the problem with Gracie in sales and then Ed the watchmaker inspected it. He confirmed the battery was good but advised the watch needed cleaning. After the cleaning the watch ran fine a few weeks then the stop and starts resumed. More time elapsed before deciding to bring in the watch and hear if Long's had another solution. I was surprised it was still under their warranty and Ed said he would get it working! Now (Dec. 2022), well into two months later, "Can Do Ed" has proven he can fix my Movado and I appreciate his and Long's willingness to never give up. read more

Never go here. They sold us a fake ring and wanted us to pay for insurance at a higher value then the ring was worth. Even worse, we took another ring in to have a small diamond be replaced, they told us they would replace it with a diamond, but they replaced it with what was essentially costume jewelry. Luckily, we got it appraised at another location, who were so shocked about the price they charged us and encouraged us to take legal action. My fiancé and I seem young, which is likely why they did what they did. I have never written a yelp review before, but this experience shocked me. Never by from Long Jewelers. In 2023 I worked with Deanna Robertson at Long Jewelers and found her to be professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. I made a purchase, had a lovely piece of jewelry designed and made, had repairs done and obtained appraisals. In each of those situations she had great attention to detail and responded promptly if I had a question. I've been in here twice seeking repairs on fine jewelry and left both times. Today I was quoted upwards of $200 to replace a stone I know is no more than a $60 repair because it's popped out before. The sales lady then asked if it was even real (yes, it's real, it's not lab grown or semi-precious as you inferred which was mildly offensive). I was willing to pay a little more to have it done locally and quickly and had been referred here by a friend, but the estimate today kept changing with additional repairs she tried to upsell. I called my guy in LA who worked on the ring previously. $40. The numbers speak for themselves and I know my guy's work is spot on. Two stars for the man who helped me the one other time I went in- who was not a sales person and who was much less pushy to speak with. Who also quoted me about $200 to replace a larger diamond in an heirloom eternity band. After the business owner replied and denied the experience I have to add that yes, this is the Virginia Beach Blvd Longs. Wow! Came in to size up a watch watch and get a battery replaced in another. Picked up my watch today and it was cleaned up and rebrushed and looks better than ever! Let me start by saying I love my rings. My husband got my engagement ring and both wedding bands from Long, and they are exactly what I want. HOWEVER, we have been married two years and the same one wedding band has broken TWICE. I'm not a construction worker who uses a jack hammer; I'm a special needs teacher who even takes my rings off to put lotion on. There is NO reason for the same band to break TWICE. So, I contacted Long and they informed me they have no record of our purchase (even though I have the receipt) and they said the appraisal isn't accurate (even though it was emailed from Donna, an employee of Long Jewelers WITH A LONG JEWELERS EMAIL ACCOUNT). They don't stand by their product and have NO concept of customer service. You can barely ever get them on the phone, and if you are lucky that you do catch them, they are rude and say 'it's your fault the ring broke'. If it ACTUALLY was my fault (which to be clear, it's not, otherwise I wouldn't be ranting) then maybe your ring shouldn't be so weak, especially for a customer who has purchased an engagement ring and two wedding bands (all obviously NOT cheap). Save your time and money and go somewhere with a reputable name who stands by their work. read more

I spent over 2 months in and out of this store trying to find the perfect ring for my now fiancé. They were fantastic!! I am a medical student who had to balance the stress of going through rotations while making 30 minute trips to this store. On several occasions, they kept the store open a little later just to accommodate my terrible schedule. They always went the extra mile to make my experience a personal and positive one. Renee specifically consistently lead me in the right direction and made me want to do business there again. Three stars because I am sure that the business as a whole is great, however the gentlemen that I dealt with with was not as welcoming and personable as what I am sure the business generally sets out to be. I went in for an appraisal, said gentlemen said he could do it and didnt actually appraise the jewlery. I'm sure that when one appraises a diamond engagement ring/wedding band pair one is supposed to do more than weigh the ring and base their assumptions of it's value off of that. One is supposed to analyze the clarity of the diamond, the cut of the diamond, the quality of the metal used for the rings, the designer of said rings and then base an comparative analysis off of that. The process takes more than the five seconds that this gentlemen invested in the process. The gentleman was callous and was more interested in trying to get the rings than appraise them. I played the role of the unassuming plebian to see how I would be treated and I was not treated with the respect and decorum that one would expect to receive from a place such as this. Again I am sure that when purchasing things from here every one is warm and friendly, however that same decorum should be key regardless why a potential client has entered the business. Be it to buy, to trade, to simply price or to have appraisals done, be personable and whether or not your staff feels they know more than the average person that they deal with never assume and even more importantly never behave towards those in a way that you would not want to treated by an employee from a business. read more

Went into this store for sizing of a bracelet on a watch that this store is an authorized dealer of. There were no customers in the store but plenty of staff. They couldn't seem to get us out of the store fast enough. $20 was the charge to take out 4 links! Ridiculous! Despite looking in cases we were not offered to be shown any items. I guess despite their knowing the cost of this watch we were still apparently not dressed in the manner in which they suspected we would be buying jewelry. Just because I didn't purchase it in this shop does not mean customer service needs to be forgotten. Brick-and-mortar stores these days should be concerned in an Internet world that customer service should be above and beyond. After our treatment here I'm glad I don't live close to here and would have to use it as my service center. I wouldn't buy a stick of gum here. read more

I started looking for an engagement ring early March, 2013. After looking at every store in the mall, Jared's, and many other mom and pop shops, i finally settled with Long's. They had a great priced diamond and I loved the Michael M ring that they showed me. For reference, the diamond was 1.3ct ideal cut, D color, VS2. They ordered the diamond and had the ring made specifically to match the stone. About 4 weeks later I call to see if it came in and the salesman says not yet. Then 30 minutes later he says he was just joking and that it's ready.... Lol When I went with my mom to get the ring, at first sight I was taken away by the beauty of the ring itself. Michael M makes great rings. However, the diamond itself looked cloudy and was not what we originally wanted. When he handed me the certificate it stated D color, ideal cut, VS2 (Round brilliant btw), 1.3ct, but I couldn't get over the cloudiness. He told me to just clean it... After cleaning the diamond 3 times with warm water, it still looked cloudy! When I told the salesman he said it was the same thing and its just dirty. I went to work the next day and asked my mom to see what was up. She went to the store with the ring to show the manager and two other people and they all told her it was the same one and they don't do refunds and that, "she was looking at it at the wrong angle". Seriously!!!??? Two days later I went to see them myself. All the while I was being told via text messages that I chose that diamond and that ring (ring was wrong one too but turned out to be better haha). I went to see the guy and he told me to wait a couple minutes while he goes to clean it. Patiently waiting, 2 minutes turned to 15. He comes back hesitantly and says that the laser inscription on my diamond didn't match the one on the certificate! I got the wrong diamond and i was told i was wrong and seeing it wrong! No apology. No nothing. They offered to replace it for a better diamond. But by better they actually meant worse cause it was the same size and cut but F color and vs1. 1 level better clarity and 2 levels worse color. Smh. I took the ring (wouldn't give refund on that) and proceeded to Jared's. I'm very happy now with my GIA (not EGL like Long jewelers has) rated diamond from Jared's. I can't tell you to never shop at Longs, but please check the certification origin and make sure it's the same diamond! (Have someone look at the laser inscription to make sure it matches the certificate!). My future wife and I had planned on getting all our jewelry from Longs, but now it seems Jared's it is! read more

I am not sure what other people are talking about on here. We have bought our wedding bands, engagement ring, and other pieces of jewelry from Long Jewelers and have been nothing less than impressed!! I wanted a very unique engagement ring and they went above and beyond to make it happen and actually got it in early so my husband could bring it on a trip we were taken. They also worked very hard to get us our wedding bands early because we were moving and then worked with us from afar. Long Jewelers is by far the best jewelry store that I have ever been to. The sales staff seem to have all worked there for a long time and are very knowledgeable so you can get to know the people that you are buying from and trust what they are telling you. They have always been very friendly and helpful to me. The selection there is amazing. I have never seen so much to choose from in one jewelry store. I appreciate that it's not the mass manufactured junk that I find at the mall and that I don't have to worry about seeing a girl out with the same engagement ring that I have. Even better is their pricing. I have never bought anything from there and later felt like I over paid. I bring all of my repairs and watch batteries there too because they have multiple jewelers, a watch repairman, and an appraiser. I sent a friend in to longs after her engagement ring was ran over by a UPS truck (yes you read that correctly) and her ring looked brand new. I tell any of my friends that are looking at jewelry to visit Long Jewelers and truly stand by everything I have said. In 5 years and dozens of repairs and purchases I have only had one incident where I wasn't happy with the sizing of a ring and the problem was immediately fixed and I was 100% satisfied. I hate seeing a jewelry store that has been in Virginia Beach for over 30 years get bashed by a couple of people who obviously had unusual experiences there. I hope that more people who love Long Jewelers like me review them on here and that people don't let the bad reviews on here stop them from at least going into the store to see it for themselves. read more

My experience with long has been nothing short of exceptional! The first time my husband and I were just browsing engagement rings and the gentleman helping us was helpful, informative and most of all NOT pushy... I have browsed and bought pieces from chain jewelers and have had had less then memorable experiences. Including one woman so hell bent on us buying an engagement ring when we just walking by and was casually peering into the cases ( I mean super pushy). The second time in long was to reset family diamonds into a new wedding band... the woman helping us gave us plenty options, was extremely helpful and made sure we got what we wanted. She sat down and went through catalogs of band setting and even called to make sure the diamond sizes would fit in the band we wanted. When left to make a decision she saw we wanted to talk about it and walked away and gave us a moment to discuss our purchase. This is the most stand out thing to us! She also sized my husband and had him try on a few rings to figure out how wide of band he should buy and wrote it down for us and left it at that. Once I came in to pick up my band they made sure that I was completely satisfied with my purchase and said if you not please come back so we can figure out other options. I will also note we were not planning on going in that day so our clothes were pretty causal ( flannel shirt and leggings) and I did not feel I was treated any different than any other customer coming in. I met David Long who shared with me his story of how he started this Hampton Roads business. This is a truly local and reliable company based in Hampton Roads, which has been here for many years, so when you buy here or use their services, your money benefits our area directly. David gave me a very fair price on some earrings and let us know about all of their services offered, including free cleanings for life, a great selling point. He also gave a military discount, much appreciated in our community. I look forward to coming back in for future wants and needs and appreciate the service David offers and the many deals available. Let me just start off by saying that this may be a long review, but PLEASE read this before giving Long any of your business. My husband is in the military and had just moved to the area about 3 years ago and needed a recommendation of a good jeweler. A friend recommended long Jewelers to him. My engagement ring is a family heirloom and before proposing he had to have the ring resized and he took it to Long Jewelers to do so. He also had the ring appraised by them. Once he proposed we then went to them to have custom wedding bands made. The promised dates of completion of the rings were never accurate and even when the rings were finished I never received a phone call. I had to call to follow up. The custom rings turned out beautiful and my husband and I loved them UNTIL... Diamonds started falling out of the custom made rings. Long was gracious enough to replace them with out any cost, which I expected anyways being that I had only had the ring for a few months or so. After three or four different diamonds fell out, I felt the need to get a second opinion. A certified gemologist quickly surveyed the bands at another jeweler and noticed that there were three CZ stones in one of my bands. Let me also say that up until this point, not a single jeweler other than the employees at Long had touched my rings. My engagement ring is such a special piece being an heirloom and I didn't want to take any chances with just any jeweler. The gemologist also noticed that the diamond they had replaced from when one of the diamonds fell out was already loose. After finding out this information we set up a meeting with David Long in hopes to reconcile the situation. When meeting with him he was very condescending and rude. He tried to place the blame on me anyway he could and he claimed that we must have taken the ring somewhere else and they must have switched out the diamonds. He offered to fix everything for us free of charge, but we obviously did not want to do any more business with them. We asked for a refund and he was flabbergasted that we even thought that was a legitimate request. We walked out of the store with a check to have the issues fixed by another jeweler, which was a check for only about $300. Each ring is worth about $2500. To have more concrete proof, I then went to a certified gemologist/appraiser who has no affiliation with any jeweler and in her appraisal, which I have official documentation of, she states that there in fact were three CZ stones in one of the bands. She also noted several loose and cracked stones. I had her appraise my engagement ring as well just to make sure it hadn't been tampered with and her appraisal of my ring was TWICE as much as the appraisal that Long Jewelers provided. This makes absolutely no sense and it looks to me like pure negligence. I have my ring insured and I was using the appraisal from Long Jewelers for the insurance. If something had ever happened to my ring, my insurance would not have been able to replace the ring I have now due to the low-ball appraisal. I have since updated my insurance and I am very happy that I decided to get a second opinion. My husband and I met with a lawyer once we had the hard evidence. The lawyer we met with had just won a case against Long Jewelers based on their wrong doings. Our lawyer tried to contact David via phone several times in hopes to reconcile things before taking him to court and he wouldn't return his phone calls. The one time he actually did get David on the phone he hung up on him. We didn't end up going to court because the court costs would have been more than what the rings were worth, but I strongly believe if we had we would have won. I am sure they will respond by telling you that they offered some small discounts and gave me some free jewelry cleaner throughout my time as a customer there, but I think everyone would agree that such small acts of kindness don't make up for all their wrong doings. Long story short, I am so surprised that they continue to maintain a good reputation after my experience with them. Since my experience I have spoken to several other people who have also had bad experiences with them and so I now know I am not alone. read more

Long Jewelers carries beautiful jewelry. Since my marriage, my husband has purchased many thousands of dollars of lovely jewelry that I am proud to wear. I have no complaint with their merchandise. However, I cannot say the same for the customer service offered. On two occasions, I have had need of repair work and on both occasions have been irritated and annoyed as I left the store. Most recently, I was told that my ring repair would be ready within 5 days, but that the repair would likely only take a couple of days. After waiting 7 days, I called and was told that a message had been left on my cell that the ring was ready the day after I dropped it off. I had no messages on my phone. I can understand that someone may have misdialed my number and left the message on someone else's phone. But the point is that the snooty, clerk with the British accent, who by the way, waited on me both times, wanted to argue. No apology for the miscommunication was offered. Rather, her aloof attitude has put me off from every wanting to return to Longs for any future purchase. Though this complaint may sound to be over a trivial matter, It must be understood that if I or my husband are to make rather large purchases from a reputable jeweler, I want to walk into the store expecting to have a good experience, At this point, I don't want to walk back in the door and deal with this clerk again. read more

IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR WATCH, DO NOT COME HEREI came here to have the watchmaker do an overhaul on an automatic ceramic watch and it was operating great...but then i noticed there were water spots and dirt on the inside of the crystal and brang it back to be cleaned out. The watchmaker cleaned the crystal and had it back to me same day; however, upon inspecting the watch this time before leaving the store I noticed a crack in the ceramic case! The staff insisted it was already there and there was no way they were responsible, even though they inspected it when I dropped it off and noted any imperfections at the time and there was no crack. The crack is directly connected to where one of the screws that was removed and screwed back in is at. I can guarantee the watchmaker screwed the screw in too tight and caused the hairline crack. As i said, the staff closely inspected the watch prior to service and there was no crack. When I picked the watch up there was a crack. You do the math. read more

They took the time to show me similiar rings in catalogs, but nothing that I liked. The Owner suggested they make a repica ring. The staff was great, the prices were even better.We spent A LOT of money on my wifes engagement ring and got nothing but the best service from Long's. That was over 4 years ago.I recently bought another piece of jewelry for my wife from Longs.I didn't notice how short the necklace was until my wife tried it on at home.We went back up to Long's and I explained that I hadn't realized how short it was and they gave us a longer more expensive chain for FREE.Try getting that service at any other store.I always tell people to go up to Long's and they all have nothing but good things to say afterwards.I will never go to another jewelry store!
