I used to like LJS once every third month, but good lord this chain is trying to go completely out of business and in a rapid fashion. Service is crazy slow. Fryer oil tastes like it hasn't been changed in 10 years and it has probably been 15 years. Fried fish tastes like fried Carp and Chicken is chewy and oft putting. Do a lot better or shutter the remaining 30-40 locations across the U.S. Embarrassing all the way around. Food is atrocious, service is as well (who blames them) and the restaurants look like they were decorated by zombies from the 70's. The store is clean and some items such as ice cream and root beer floats are good, however. The food seems old and licking in quality. There is no supervision on late shift. It's all very young people who actually cut up and play while prepping your food. I actually had one of the workers playing making stupid sounds on the drive thru speaker while I was ordering. First, the good. The staff that we interacted with were very friendly. Our food, when we received it, was hot and fresh. So why only a three? The tables and floor were dirty. We had to ask about three different times for salt and condiments since they are handing out packets, and these are not in a location where you can just go get them yourself. The food service was bad I ate some shrimp with some Cocktail sauce and some cheese cake. The shrimp was over cooked and rubbery and one of my shrimp wansnt even cooked and then the cocktail sauce was watery and flavorless and the cheese cake was moldy. Long John Silver's is located on Brenwood Street in a shopping plaza near the local Wal-Mart. I have eaten here a few times over the past year, so consider this review a bit of an amalgam of my experiences. As of now, LJS is a preferred meet up spot with one of my old neighbors. Like most franchises, LJS teamed up with A&W several years ago and opened a blended concept. There is some available storefront parking and a drive-thru lane for those who aren't looking to stick around. The interior reveals a lot more seating, a mix of booths and small tables. Walk up to the counter to put in an order. Menu items include and aren't limited to fried fish filets, chicken, shrimp, grilled fare, grilled and breaded vegetables, rice, hamburgers... I mean, dang. There's a little bit of something for everyone. Aside from the root beer, I can't comment on the A&W side of the menu. I typically stick to fried fish combos with rice and vegetables. The chicken is decent, but I find that I can't quite handle overbreaded foods, especially if they dry out from being under heat lamps. The fish strikes that right balance of breading, flavor, and salt. As far as the sides go, the rice pilaf is pretty solid and customers can tell that the green beans were cooked with a sufficient amount of pork. I also appreciate that cashiers tend to bring your food directly to you if the restaurant isn't busy. That's sweet of them. If I had to ding the restaurant on anything, it'd be cleanliness. On more than one occasion, I've sat down (or worse, sat in) crumbs or food items dropped into the seats or had an uncomfortable stickiness on my flip-flops while walking through the place. UPDATED 8-2-2017 My husband talked me in to trying LJS again. Hard to believe but it was even WORSE. The food was old and the restaurant was filthy. We ended up throwing the meals away and went somewhere else. 7-26-2016. This is my second time eating here in the past couple weeks. Upon entering you aren't greeted with pleasantries but a loud 'Will this be for here or to go?'. After ordering you have a minimum of 10 minutes to wait for your food. To make things worse most of it is cold by the time you get it. Today I ate at 1130am and the hush puppies and cole slaw were old. This restaurant was terrible. The service was so slow we waited over 20 minutes for our order and there weren't even 5 other people in the store. The food was what was expected however the slowness and utter disregard for trying to move more quickly really ruined this experience. The cashier and the back prep area people didn't seem to know how to do their job and one of the girls kept touching her hair and pulling her jeans up. The floor behind the counter was wet and slick and three workers were sliding around on it and just laughing and saying don't fall now. Highly dissatisfied and will not come back. read more

I went into this place-Long John Silver's last week, spent about 29.00 dollars. When I went in I had to use the bathroom after I tried to wash my hands-NO SOAP! I went into the place to order and told the cashier-front line worker, there was no soap so how did the employees wash their hands, she said she would get right on it. I had to wait 20 minutes for my order and never once did any employee must less the manager go and refill the soap. I also try to ask the manager a question and she ignored me (the ice cream cones she was refilling was more important) finally she rudely ask me what I wanted.
