My wife and I have visited over a dozen Golden Corrals across the country. Hands down, this is the BEST: a great variety of fresh food, fast friendly service, and fair prices. We've been regular customers since the Corral opened here in Richmond about 8 years ago. A nearby Ryan's went out of business within a few months for good reason. Despite COVID and a kitchen fire, Richmond's Corral has thrived. Many of the cooks and service staff have remained; they've become like family. BCan't believe I would have the best service in my life at a Golden Corral . We stopped in 6-27-24 while passing thru and looking for something to eat . Was a toss up between Golden Corral and Texas Roadhouse . After coming inside we noticed that this location was kind of small and were like ok whatever , we are here let's eat and get back on the road . We chose a busy section but fortunately we met Michelle and everything changed . I felt like I was getting 5 star service yet was at Golden Corral . Me and my wife enjoyed Michelle's company and amazing service so much we stayed almost 1.5 hours and we still had 4 more hours to drive . My wife and I have had our fair share of experience with waitresses. My wife was a waitress from the time she was 14 till graduating medical school and me from repeated driving cross country for years only eating out . We have had some great servers before but not one even in the same ball park as Michelle . It was almost like she was a mind reader , never even had to ask for anything , repeatedly asked how everything was and if she could do anything . I think Golden Corral has gone downhill in the last few years. This is a very new location so I was expecting it to be nice but it's actually the smallest Golden Corral I've ever been in. I remember when they used to have strawberries on the salad bar, and other higher quality items. Now, it's mostly slop. Everything was over cooked and a lot of salad bar veggies were not fresh. For $13.99, you can find many other restaurants that offer a much better meal than what you get at Golden Corral. Sure, it's all about quantity here. Quality, not so much. Not at all. I normally don't do places like this, but I have been here twice when in Richmond, KY when traveling for work and both times it did not disappoint. They have just about everything you need to choose from as far as cafeteria style food. The service is average but very friendly; they greet you and always want to help or get you what you need. The food is pretty fresh. There are hit or miss items, but overall not too shabby! My favorites are the strip steak, the fried catfish, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. I will probably return when back in the area because it seems they keep the place clean and orderly and I have never gotten a stomach ache! One more thing....try out the desserts too. Service was friendly albeit a little slow. There were 2 servers taking care of the back room and they stopped by only once to clear plates. Dr those who have never been or don't know, this is a buffet restaurant so between 5 people the plates added up quickly! Food wise, like I said it's a buffet so they have pretty much a little of everything and if you leave hungry it's your own fault. Normally it ranges between meh and good but today the food was wonderful. Everything was hot, fresh and in abundance. I never saw any of the trays empty or close to empty and nothing that I tasted had been sitting out awhile. Sentiments around the table were that everything was great. Really enjoyed breakfast here on a Saturday morning. Buffet was fresh and stocked full of the usual suspects. Server was friendly and came around to refill my coffee a few times. Are there yesterday with my family. We had 4 adults (2 of my children are too old for child's prices ) and 2 children. Everyone had soda except 1 adult. Our total was $74 (...well $73 and some change). The server was super nice and attentive, sorry I didn't get her name but she had a super cute southern accent. I have eaten at good Golden Corrals but I'm sorry to say this isn't one of them. We each had pieces that tasted old/dried out. It seemed like items were heated up from a previous night and/or were put in refrigeration without a proper seal. The shredded cheese top layer was dried out, there were dry chunks in the sour cream, the baked potatoes were hard-not cooked or old, the fish was dry and old tasting and the bacon was hard and tasted like it was reheated (old). Save your money and drive to another one if you are set on eating at this type of restaurant. The food is very poor quality. read more

The price of the dinner buffet is a bit excessive at almost $28 for two people so if you are going to come here then you better come with a full appetite. Just like other golden corrals you do everything yourself to include getting your own silverware which always leaves me to question why you have a server. Our server didn't come back to the table til we had finished eating and was ready to leave before she asked if we wanted a refill. The food was ok, it is a buffet after all and it just opened so expectations aren't as high as a restaraunt such as Malones in Lexington. I will visit again and maybe try it for lunch in hopes of a cheaper meal, I can think of other places I can visit and pay $14 a piece and receive better quality food read more

My wife and I have ate there 4 times now, trying to give them a chance. Every time I have eaten there it was TERRIBLE! The food is definitely not fresh. What food that is on the buffet is scarce. There are two conditions of the food; undercooked or overcooked. As a new establishment, I would think they would be on top of their game. I guess I'm wrong. The service. Let's talk about the service....actually, what service? One of my visits, I actually had to get up, after almost 20 minutes, to find my "waitress" to ask for a refill. On one of our visits, we watched a celebratory congratulations for the owners, I assume, of the establishment whilst being neglected. As much as I loved Ryan's and it's philanthropy to help out Waco Elementary when my son was a student there, I have to say this Golden Corral beats Ryan's hands down. It is also WAY BETTER than any other Golden Coral I've eaten at, especially the Lexington one. Our server was absolutely delightful and she said management had them move their cars to the front after a certain time for safety purposes. That is a management that cares about their staff.
