It needs more seasonings but it went well with my grilled chicken. Chicken was very good. The rest of my party enjoyed their food. Also got the new(returning item) icebox pie. Place was NOT busy at all (5:30 on a Friday) so issues were NOT because they were "slammed". Would give ZERO stars if Yelp allowed it. Service was slow / not attentive. Meatloaf was dry & mashed potatoes were nasty / looked glazed / like left overs & were almost cold. did not bring biscuits until dinner was served. Food, in general, was not hot but only slightly warm. Made me wait on part of order integral to being able to begin eating.. Did not bring enough jelly for a table of 5. Watied a LONG time for server to come back to ask for jelly and gave up. Asked manager and she only gave me 3 jellies (had someone else deliver them with zero follow up). Wanted Ketchup for meatloaf but server never came back in time for me to ask for it. No one ever asked how the food ws / tasted. The management people that made all the changes need to be sent packing. The food choices are not as good and cost much more. I always got fried chicken and greens. Now chicken only on certain days. November 21, 2022 Asked for bread 3 times. When Lauren the waitress finally brought it. No plates, no butter, no jams...ask for new waitress. If you've ever read any of my breakfast spot reviews, you know that I meet my parents every Sunday for breakfast. When they suggested Cracker Barrel, I wasn't terribly excited but it was their turn to pick. Plus they pay so I kept my mouth shut. When you walk in, you are immediately overwhelmed by a vast floor full of cheesy souvenirs, ugly clothes that you would likely find on old women on a cruise ship, and many other Knick knacks. When you finally make your way to the hostess stand you put your name on a list. We probably waited all of two minutes before we were shown to our table. So that was a good omen. The menu was disappointing. No eggs Benedict. Bad omen. So I thought ok, biscuits and gravy. How can I go wrong with that, right? Well, they figured out a way. They brought me out an empty plate, put a basket of cold biscuits in the middle of the table and a bowl of warm gravy near my plate. I've never seen a breakfast that was just so wrong. My parents had pancakes and the sad their breakfast was fine. It's hard to mess up pancakes. But that's what I thought about biscuits and gravy. Walked into their charming general store, and we were seated quickly. Our server took our drink order and returned in a flash to take our order. The food came out promptly with large portions, enough for us to take back and munch on as we drove to our destination. The food was tasty and hot and our server was on point, bringing lots of drink refills and extras. She was friendly and kind! The bathrooms were clean. What a friendly place. Service is quick and even with a packed building they get you seated and taken care of within minutes of arrival. Stopped here while traveling from Michigan to Florida. I originally ordered haddock, but it was not very good, so the waitress offered to switch it for catfish. I requested that my meal be carryout because everyone in my party was almost done eating. The waitress was very friendly and I really appreciate her hospitality. I also love going to the store outside the restaurant! Everyone in the store was friendly and helpful too! After grabbing a few goodies it was time to head back to the hotel and relax. The only problem my family had was the seating. We were a party of 5, but there weren't any tables available to accommodate us, so the staff had us sit at a small 4 seat table and added a chair at the end for my son. I made a delivery order using the Cracker Barrel app and after waiting an hour for it to arrive, I called the store to realize there were no DoorDash drivers available to pickup my order. I don't like to give bad reviews, especially to Cracker Barrel. We just stopped at the Richmond, Ky location. The lot was pretty empty as was the dining area. We were seated in the rear with only 3 other tables occupied. We waited 15 minutes but no one came to the table. Tables around us were cleared, others were waited on, and the hostess even came to check on open tables. No one even approached us. We were just there for dessert so we left and went to DQ. My lemonade was refilled right on time, my fish fry food was delicious. She checked on us periodically and was friendly the entire time. Went at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and was seated immediately. Waitress came and took our order. We had been keto for 3 1/2 months and decided to cheat today. We had been craving fried chicken and was looking forward to some really good food. We ordered fried chicken w/salad & side. Two minutes later she comes out with the fried chicken. I told her that I had asked to have it cooked fresh. How could they have cooked it so quick. She said they just do it quickly. Then she goes back in the kitchen and brings our salads out. Anyway, long story short... The food was not fresh, the chicken is not hand breaded, and it was just an overall bad experience. We ended up taking our salads home with us and just half the food. We will eat the salads but will give the neighbors dog the other food. Also, they sat us in the very back dining room for 4 managers were sitting. Went here for dinner with friends to see what all the hype was about. Have to say the best part of this place is their General Store. We were all very disappointed with the food. It was very mediocre, I ordered the Friday Fish Fry they made such a big deal about. I asked to sub the fries for a baked sweet potato, for an extra charge of course. when my plate arrived, the sweet potato was on the side and looked like it'd been sitting for hours, they included the fries anyway. and the fish portions were very small. Not at all how they described the dish. For dessert we all ordered the fresh baked Peach Cobbler, it was more like peach pie filling with ice cream, no cobbler in mine or my friends, shoulda asked for a corner piece.. lol wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Normally, I absolutely love Cracker Barrel. I will always get the hash brown casserole because that's my favorite food from there. I ordered a vegetable plate with mashed potatoes, hash brown casserole, and a couple of other items. But to my dismay, there was a hair in my food. This is understandably gross. I talked to my server (who was very nice, I don't remember the name, but she was very sweet). She's the only reason why I'm giving them two stars. So, the manager came over and I remember her name because she was absolutely horrid. She said her name was Dee and asked what the problem was. I told her that there was hair in my food and asked if it was okay that I get a new plate. She pursed her lips and scrunched her face up a bit and said "sure, I'll take this back and new food will be brought to you." I thanked her, but she didn't apologize at all and made me feel uncomfortable with her attitude. At that point, I was almost wary of getting my food back just because I said something about the hair. I get it, mistakes happen. I wasn't trying to anger anyone. A few minutes later, Dee brings me the "new" food herself. I thought that was really quick, but figured maybe they just had those sides all made and ready. I thanked her and I noticed the plate was the exact same. She had just set the plate down and walked away without a word. Just an eye roll. It was the same plate I already had. The hair was just taken off of it and I'm guessing that they just put it under the heater for a little bit. After she left, I took some of it off the fork with my hand and sure enough, it was still cool in some areas where it didn't have enough time to heat up. At this point, I didn't want to eat. I didn't want to order anything else. I was just angry and disgusted. My friends didn't want to eat their meals either because it grossed them out. We just paid and left. Checked in twice and now I'm the Duchess?! What's up with that, Richmond Yelpers? This is the very first CB that I remember coming to... as a kid. I think this one was built before the Lexington locations... from what I remember anyways. 9 times out of 10 when I come to a CB I order the kids chicken tender meal. Since the biscuits are already free, the meal is almost equal sized as the adult chicken tender meal, but the kids meal includes the drink and is cheaper. Score! The service and food have been good, no complaints from me... it's just not a five star restaurant. read more

When we are on vacation we usually hunt for the best local eatery. When traveling and on a time schedule we are different. The thing I like about Cracker Barrel is that they ask serve very nearly the same food. Seldom an awful one and usually good if not great. Cut straight from the corporate cloth. The uniformity of Cracker Barrels from one place to the next is spooky and this place toes the line. (McDonald's has more variation between restaurants than CB.) I had the new half chicken menu item for dinner with two sides and biscuits with real butter. I don't like how the corn comes watery and oily but it's not too bad. I took home the entire breast, some potatoes and corn, and a biscuit which reheated well for lunch the next day. However, they are still at 2 stars because the service was terrible and dreadfully slow AGAIN! Had to wait forever for just basic condiments, server did not check on us after the food was brought (by someone other than her) and she didn't ask if we needed drink refills until she brought the check. Also had to ask someone else for a to go box. It will probably be a good long while before we give them another chance, at least at the Richmond location.
