Rude and arrogant service. I asked the server how many pieces of popcorn shrimp were in a serving. I wanted to know the number of pieces in the serving, not the weight. All they would tell me is the weight of the serving. Then the on-duty manager asks me if I am having a bad day because I have asked the question and expect an answer. At that point, I said I was leaving, and he proceeded to call me a "Fucker". Two bad experiences at LJS, the previous was in Martinsville about 2 months ago. Well, I won't be back. Service was decent. The lady that gave me my food kind of had a "didn't give a crap" vibe. But the food was good though for long John Silver. I don't come here too often based on trying to stay away from fried food, but there were other options available besides fried. I might come back. LJS has always been a guilty pleasure for me and my wife. Sometimes there's no substitute for battered fish, fries and slaw, and LJS on a good day is pretty darned good. The past few years we had avoided LJS due to shoddy service and sub-par food, but that's been par for the course in South central Indiana. We used to drive to Bedford, IN for our LJS fix, but they also took a nosedive. After noticing that our local LJS got a clean inspection by the county health department, we figured that it might be worth another try. I'm glad we did! The past few visits were great. The fish was hot and fresh, the hush puppies were golden and tasty, and the coleslaw was delicious. (We've been cutting back on French fries, so "no comment" on those.) While I don't recommend having Long John Silvers too often, I do recommend visiting the Bloomington, IN location when you get a chance. read more

Food, is very important and it is very important to have fresh food that is all the way cooked. Today , I will explain why this location is not the best service in town. Let's start with presentation. Food is not made right or not cooked long enough. Almost seems to me that they take it out the grease early just to rush their customers or they will give customers food thats been sitting around for a while. Take a look at this photo I took today of the food I received today. So many things wrong with it. Missing side items. Food not cooked or wasn't done correct. The chicken doesn't even look like a full piece. They had me waiting in the back of their resturants while they re made my order and the second time was worst then the first time. I believe they do this on purpose? Why, I am not sure. But I do know I have had friends of mine get better food then what I got today. Very upsetting. Rudest employees I've ever encountered. I'm sure it sucks working fast food, but you chose the job. I ordered three #2 combos all with Mountain Dew. He asked what side so I said "French fries for all three" and he cut me off mid sentence to shout "I SAID, WHAT SIDE?!" Then when I get to the window, he doesn't give me any drinks. I had to ask for them. And doesn't give me any straws. I had to ask for those too. Seriously?? Shitty customer service. He needs fired. read more

I was traveling through the area and decided to stop here. I had the two piece fish combo. It was fresh and hot. The cashier, Kaitlyn M. was extremely pleasant and brought my food to my table. There is a little sign by the cash register that says you get an "extra piece if they don;t say it" or something like that. So I got another piece of fried fish for my fried food plate when i went here. My fried food plate had french fries, hush puppies, shrimp, flaky white fish, etc. etc. I just dumped malt vinegar all over it and dug in. The malt vinegar is conveniently placed on every table, which I love. Then I immediately drove to my doctors office to fail a cholesterol test. This place is awful. The chicken wasn't all the way done, the hushpuppies were cold, and the French fries weren't cooked all the way. The floor was wet and I almost fell. The staff was nice but the food was disgusting. The ketchup was watery and the pop was too sweet and was flat. I remember when this place used to be good but it has all went down the drain. The food was soggy and undercooked. The guy that was frying the food was not wearing gloves. I asked that he put gloves on before making my food and he got pissed about it.... Funny I thought that anytime you handled raw food or any food for that matter in a fast food establishment it was required that you wear gloves.... Never thought of visiting this fast food chain other than McDonalds and Wendy's until recently getting bored with the restaurants I frequent, I decided to give this place a shot. I realized that it was not bad at all and in fact, I loved it! I loved how the place looked more welcoming than other fastfood chain, I love their service, once in a while, someone would come and check how things are doing (unusual in fastfood restaurants), loved that there's a bell on the way out and most of all, the food! So i went back in the other day. Yes i went inside to just to make sure lol. The cashier and a different manager were very friendly and i explained what happed before. The manager was apologetic and i could tell by his voice wasn't the manager that i spoke to that was extremely rude! He made sure we had all our sauces and it was all fresh. I will have to visit a few more times before i can go more then 2 stars though. So a tip. Even if your in a rush go inside and check order before leaving. They seem to be more friendly inside. Plus it isn't any faster then drive threw if not you get it fast inside. I honestly hope they replaced the former manager i spoke to on the phone. Even without training you should know how to treat customer complaints without being rude and hanging up on them. I don't care how busy you are. read more

If you can stand the filthy counters, flies, bathrooms and greasy floors you cannot stand on without falling then this is the place for you. I work in food service, so I know how to handle food...correctly. Making READY TO EAT food without gloves on, is disgusting. I don't care if you just washed your hands or not. For all I know, you just went to the bathroom. Or you picked your butt and then rubbed your grubby ungloved hands all over my fish tacos. It's nasty. I will never visit this place as long as I am alive. First off they got rid of the best thing on the menu in my opinion, the broccoli cheese bites. :( That's not why I'm complaining though. Tried to order at 9:51 last night and NO One answered the drive thru. Granted it was close to closing, but it was not 10pm.

I've been going to LJS since college but have now given up on them completely. A few weeks ago I went through the drive-thru, got my order (which was fine) and afterwards took the survey on the receipt to get a free piece of fish with a drink purchase. When I went back about a week later, the employee working the drive-thru had no idea how to process the survey code and asked me to come inside so the manager could help me. To her credit, the girl at the drive-thru was very nice and apologetic. When I went inside, the manager was busy waiting on other customers and the other employee at the counter didn't know how to ring in the survey code either. It took a few minutes for the manager to be able to help and at least five more minutes before I got my food. I left two messages at the corporate office before I finally got a call from the local store. I told the woman what happened and she didn't act like it was any big deal. I don't blame the employees for not knowing what do to. They obviously weren't trained on this. The deal breaker was seeing the extremely dirty fingernails on the second cashier who tried to wait on me. If she didn't know any better, someone should have told her about the "clean hands policy" in the restaurant industry. Sorry, LJS. I won't be back. read more
