It's been 6 years since my last review for this DQ location, and honestly, I only gave it another try because I had a buy one get one for 99cent coupon for a blizzard. Cody helped me today and he makes an awesome blizzard. Both blizzards were absolutely amazing with the perfect amount of stuff. There was such an even of Mount of Eminem's and every single bite that I took. I don't even like turtle pecan ice cream but even that was great. We stopped here for lunch today and i.have to.say, literally everything was a pleasant surprise. The staff was very good, courteous, attentive. Our food was hot, fresh, and tasty all the way around. Dining room, counter, and restrooms were spotless. I seriously can't remember a fast food experience this pleasant since ... I don't know when. read more

Staff are always welcoming and nice. Clean inside and food is the same good taste of DQ. I strongly suggest their heath caramel brownie cupfection if you are looking for ice cream. Too good and melts in the mouth read more

The guy working the evening shift are very friendly. Good icecream and shakes. There still an ok place to eat. It's hard to keep businesses running more people need to support them. They have been a staple in our small town for so long I can't not having it in Spencer. read more

We were initially going to the McDonald's next door but the drive thru was seriously full. We saw DQ had a much shorter line. You can't go inside right now which is totaly fine with me. We had fast friendly service thru the drive thru. Employee wearing his mask and wearing it properly. read more

Well. Wow. We drove 20ish minutes to this DQ Chill n Grill for lunch, we had been here before so we knew what to expect. What I did not expect to find was the level of service that they have but I will get back to that. Let's start with the restaurant~very old, outdated for the most part but it was clean. The drink machine was very new, had tons of options and they had a great section with frozen cakes. We ordered burgers, fries and cheese curds-got exactly what we expected, food was hot and received quickly. Now for the service-the cashier was very nice, prompt. They even brought our food out to us, very nice! What amazed me was how they treated everyone that came in. Very nice~an older couple started to walk around the building and the guy taking orders ran outside to show them the way in. He held the door open for both of them and although this should be the norm in most places, it is not. I thought it was extremely nice, I didn't expect to see such a thoughtful act. The two guys that made our ice cream did a fine job but the girl who made the food did not do so well. The food was old and horrible. The fries were several hours old and barely warm. The chili dog sauce was good but noticeably old. The restaurant was filthy inside and outside. This should be inspected by the Health Department! We won't be back anytime soon. Our most recent visit was better in terms of food quality but not much else to report. read more

This was a terrible experience. Ordered 3 Blizzards. Not exaggerating, waited 40+ minutes. First two came out melted, no flip. Had to eat quickly because already melted. Third one came out, no flip. Employee was rude when asked why they weren't flipped, discussed they were all melted. Asked to speak with manager who was equally rude, and said sorry you have already been eating them (yes, because we were at the window for 15 minutes and they are melting!) When the manager shows their employees that it is ok to treat customers rudely you will never have a good business. It was not busy, it was just slow service, and the young lady at the window was busy blaming her coworker who was new for the slow service. Best Dairy Queen! Stopped in for a treat and had just broke my foot. I was carried in. When we got our order the staff carried back our food for us so my husband could carry me. They went above and beyond. Plus the decor in this place is so cute! Love all the old stained glass lights and the huge ice cream cones! Adorable! read more

One star because the food was great(obviously) but the workers couldn't do simple math. If a meal usually costs 5.99 and with a drink it is 6.99, then the drink costs one dollar. If the meal is on sale, then you have to pay almost an extra dollar than you would need to get a drink. read more

This Dairy Queen is a Spencer institution. It's always busy, and it's been here forever (since I can remember from childhood, anyway)! My parents live close so we usually end up here when visiting them or after a day at McCormick's Creek State Park. I don't think we've had a bad experience here. My hot fudge sundae was just as it should be, and the rest of my family enjoyed their blizzards as well. The service was good, and the employees were friendly. We happened to be there on National Ice Cream Day, and while the drive-thru was around the building, the inside wasn't busy at all. read more

Went into get some food and ice cream for me and the kids the service sucked, whoever the so called manager was is rude and hateful ice cream was melted asked for it to be remade that really made her mad, the little boy at the window recked of pot so bad that I was worried about catching a contact buzz. My chicken basket the toast was the best part my chicken was still raw, she is going to make someone sick. My kids chicken sandwiches the lettuce was nasty slimmy and brown. This is definitely an awesome Dairy Queen and certainly one of the best fast food places in town. The crispy chicken sandwich is great and they do not over-salt things, The restaurant is always impeccably clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. read more

The restaurant was dirty and had a bathroom oder to it , the employees were very rude, the food was gross. What was supposed to be a nice birthday outing ended up being a misrible experience. I sincerely hope something happens soon to clean that place up and get better workers read more

I called ahead and was told "There are several cakes made." I didn't want to drive the whole way there from another town and have the freezer empty like the last time I tried to buy a cake. I was assured by the worker that there were a "lot" of cakes. I asked if I needed to reserve a cake and said I needed a large cake for my son's birthday, and was told, "No." I drove 30 minutes and walked in to find they had three cakes. Two small and one large. The large one was decorated in pink and purple. I asked if they had any in the back (I worked at a Dairy Queen and they often had them in the freezer in the back.) I was told that one could be decorated in whatever color I wanted and then one was brought out to the front, undecorated. I was then told they were out of plastic lids. I assumed since I called ahead that they would want to figure something out. I was wrong. The two young men at the front were trying to help and be kind. But suddenly a very rude woman appeared and spat, "The manager says if you don't want what's in the freezer then you can't have a cake." I had already ordered a cake and a medium vanilla shake. No one even tried to get my shake and the whole room just stared at me like I had done something wrong in wanting the cake I was promised would be there a mere 30 minutes prior. I will never go back there. Instead we drove to Kroger's and got a lovely ice cream cake there that tasted a million times better than the DQ ones. As a side note, they have the ugliest cakes I've ever seen at a Dairy Queen. Honestly, someone needs to get proper cake decorating training. Terrible experience. read more
