The last time we ate at this restaurant they served Cod. It was about 5/8 inch thick and very good. Now what they serve is alleged to be Alaskan pollock, one quarter inch thick under the breading. It was very disappointing , to say the least! It was a greasy mess and over-salted. The french fries, green beans , and hush puppies were okay. Went through drive thru and got fish shrimp and hush puppies. All were cooked in old burnt oil which ruined the taste of everything. Ended up having a few bites because I was hungry and then throwing most of it out after. If you're on a diet this is the place to go because there's no way you will eat much if they are going to use old burnt oil to cook things in and give that food the most possibly horrible taste it can be. read more

Really this is on one hand disappointing and on the other confirming . I used to work at the LJS in Heath , Ohio when the customers refer to it " used to be a good place to eat " . When I worked there constantly employees would call off leaving me to work doubles and bust my ___ you know what . My food came out looking exactly like what you would see on the menu board . Though oddly enough it ended up being where I had to finally quit . I actually gave it two shots worked once around 94 -96 and then 00 - 01 . I quit and it all went downhill from there for LJS . I really hope LJS improves it has been almost 30 years a lack of kitchen and dining room staff is no longer an excuse , if you refuse to let go of the correct employees . It seems pretty easy somewhat like when I came in late one day . Because I was at the hospital and came in with the paperwork , but was wrote up anyways . Only to do it right you reprimand the employees calling in for example claiming there car is broke down . Then you see them parked in the mall parking lot , like they can't walk across the street . Management was alright to an extent , except for one I remember that people would bring in applications and he would toss them in the trash for pettiest of reasons . Like once it was because the person did not have their name perfectly lined up with the line you write your name on . I don't know it just needs a lot of work done there . I would come back and get it back to being a quality place to eat just not for minimum wage rates . The magic word is actual raise , not giving me a 10 cent raise when minimum wage goes from $4.25 to $4.35 . That is the farthest you in corporate can get from employee appreciation . When you are dealing with the employee covering call offs working opening to close of any restaurant . You try it go in and work at LJS from 7-8 am to closing at around 1-2 am in the morning 6-7 days a week with literally only one 30 minute break at around 4-5 pm . Then tell me I'm wrong . Like yeah corporate is going to approach that as overtime costs and what makes them happy . That is exactly why they are failing and currently have a now hiring sign outside their building . Just like the review I read on here the person mentioning asking for a to go box , and count them two hush puppies . There is the employee that has sound coming out of their mouth instead of action as a response . Or the employee that simply says right on that and grabs up the hush puppies and the to go boxes . Maybe even throws in a free dessert pie for their troubles . The customer is always correct whether you want to accept it or not . I also forgot as well as I'm not sure what it would be called but at least when I worked there , there was a lot of preferential treatment . Like I gave the example of me being late for work . When it was the first time ever in around 2 years of employment . I was the typical employee the managers would ask to cover shifts of people that called off . Though for the most part if it was the cute young girl that would call in late or just not show up at all for shifts at least twice a week .... nothing no reprimand for that . Then they would be talking promotions to these employees . Not once did they come to me and say " Hey what do you think about training for a job promotion . Not a good way to run any company . I actually took business classes in school . I was taught that is the worse thing you can do in any business , is make employees feel like there job is a dead end job with no way to get ahead unless they apply for a managerial position . That if they don't they will just be stuck at a minimum wage job no matter how good of a job they do . Obviously because of the message it sends to that employee . Why would they work harder ? They are not idiots . How you run an efficient business , it don't matter what type of business is by it being about doing for others , making other people money . I don't think making everyone become a manager so you can pay them a salary and work them as much as you like is making that manager any money either . I've seen there paycheck and I used to calculate it out and technically they would be making at least $2-$3 less then minimum wage there self . I was nervous about showing them mine from working 65-75 hours a week still getting overtime . That had to cause strained relationships between me and management .Because once again they would know how many hours I worked and they are not idiots . read more

This used to be a great place to eat. Not now! I started to give my order and the girl kept is that it? I kept saying NO! The place is dirty. The window at the drive thru is so filthy you can't see in. What is the rest of the inside like? They were so slow, 20 minutes I waited. Won't go back there again. read more

What a bad experience. I ordered online and gave it a little extra time knowing times are a little different. When I got to the location, the drive thru and parking lot were empty, so I went to the drive through to get my personal pick up order. Was greeted at the speaker to view the menu and they would be right back with me. 4 minutes later, I let them know I was there for my pick up order and was told I had to come inside. Once pulling around and parking the door was locked. Luckily there was one other family in there walking out and was able to get in. Whatever, crap happens. My order was bagged up and I was ready to go. Get home and find out we are missing fries, a side of popcorn shrimp, and one of the fried lobster things in the family order. It would be nice to talk to a manager or someone at the store to figure it out, but the number listed rings off the hook. Spent a very busy day working and grocery shopping. At the end I was really craving some fish and chips. I arrived at 9:40, just wanting to get my food and leave. Sign in the door says they close at ten but the doors were locked and the employees were hiding in their cars. I don't appreciate it. read more
