I placed my order in my car sitting in the parking lot so I could get the coins. Parking lot was packed! Order confirmation said ready in 10 minutes. Went inside after about 5 minutes. A gentleman behind the counter asked if I was picking up. I replied that I had a to go order, but was planning dine-in. He gave me my drink cup and I chose sweet tea. The gentleman relayed to the kitchen that my order was actually dine-in. It was ready a couple of minutes later. There was one table in the corner, that was unoccupied, but it had napkin trash from the previous patron and there were crumbs on the chair. Slightly disappointed that I had to bus my own table, but they were slammed. I ordered a two fish meal with corn and Cole slaw with three grilled shrimp on the side as well as a crab cake and a medium drink. The majority of the food was hot and fresh with the exception of the three grilled shrimp. All the condiments I added to my order were on my tray. Last I heard it was closed and torn down for a total remodel as of 2 months ago. No updates yet. I usually just ordered through door dash and the food was really good. Sometimes we wouldn't get our condiments or they forgot to put in hushpuppies or cole slaw that I ordered. It has been at this location since the late '80's. It was way overdue for a remodel. Another complaint is Killeen doesn't have enough traditional fish places. The only other one is Red Lobster and they were struggling for a while. The Killeen store has been renovated. We've been twice and everything tasted really good. Right now they have a $6 basket choice on sale. Unheard of for 6 shrimp, a side and hush puppies. I went in to pick up an order and when we got home very little of our food was there in fact not even a third of our food was there. We went ahead and split up the food between us and no one wound up eating The fish was really over salted and super greasy and tasted like it had been cooked in old oil. The rice was not even cooked and the shrimp was grilled and overcooked and rubbery and it had a freezer burn taste All in all this is some of the worst Long John silvers I've ever had and I used to enjoy eating there I will not be back when I called and told them that we did not get all our order they said we could come back in and they would give us the ticket free we said no we live too far out just put it back on our card this is not an option there so we are going to have to go through our bank so that will be fun but it's going to happen the next move we have is to call corporate they need to do something about this I had a $5 tip as I always tip at the window but their employee was short with me so he got no tip thank God because they already got too much of our money and all we got was bad food and lack of service. I would like you to know this is a good place to beware of I had ordered food to pick up when my husband got home with it there was not even half our food there which was upsetting so I called them they did offer to let us come back to town and we live a long ways out and they offered to replace the food I told them no we were very ill at least two members of my household and it's a long way to drive back they said well just pick it up or save your receipt and bring it back in and you can get that order free I said no just put the money back on my card I was told this was not an option but that they would honor the receipt if we bring it in. We had one two-piece fish dinner I split between my husband and our roommate they said it was inedible it was so greasy that it was just not edible. But if you decide to try your luck don't order anything but the coleslaw that was the only thing worth eating. I was surprised to see so few positive remarks about the Long John Silvers on Ft Hood St. I have never had any bad experiences with either the service or food. The only thing I have noted is the building is over due for a remodel. It shows it's age, but it's clean. The workers have always been friendly, but they also realize a remodel is overdue. TOO MUCH SALT!!!!!!,!,!!!,!!, Long John's uses too much salt in their batter period. We had to beg also for portion plates with a cover for take out.I being an African American woman,witnessed a situation where counter help employee places all of a white customer's orders in the portion containers w/lids and dumps myself and other non white customers orders in a cardboard box. This would have not been a problem if she had paid more for her orders but same price, same food, but much better service. Now with the asking for the plates,the cook said they did not have any more and the nice person at the counter had to grovel with the cook to get the plates. So keep your salt and your plates. I've been eating at LJS for about 40 years. I took a hiatus from the 90s until the last few years, because as with most things over time, the quality goes way down as the prices go up, not to mention it's not an everyday type of food if you enjoy blood flow in your arteries. I must admit that the fresh, made to order meals are not only still affordable, but major improvements have been made! Large pieces, original recipe, fresher than ever, even better fries, with new healthy rice bowls and grilled options. The entire staff was extremely courteous and professional, and even delivered our meal to the table. A service that never occurred even back in the 70s! My only complaint, is the cleanliness. This place was filthy from wall to floor and every surface in between, caddy and condiment station. Everything else outweighed being mortified at the dinginess of the location, so it still gets 5 stars. If anything it boosted my immune system. If they cleaned it up, it could be a perfect guilty pleasure. read more

I have always liked Long John Silver's and have never had bad service. A friend and I just recently visited today and had our drinks replaced for no extra cost just because we didnt like the more fountain drink taste of the dr pepper (I believe the Dr pepper was running low so it was slightly watery tasting so we got mountain dew instead with no questions asked(at the drive-thru!)) I thought that was pretty cool of them and decided to leave a good review for such kind service as well as the fact that I have gone for years with no issues. It's a bit pricy compared to a whole bag of fish fillet cheap at the grocery store, but thats just the price of convenience. OK, let me start from the beginning. My wife and I walk in and we are about the 3rd ones in line. The cashiers bends over and sneezes. Now, I don't know if she sneezed into her hands, her sleeve or what and I just thanks God she wasn't handling any food but she kept doing what she was doing. We get our drinks and make our way to a table. Just about every table in that place was dirty. The one we picked, which was less dirty than the rest had soda spilled on it and the pepper shaker was on the booth seat in its side. Now I notice that the floor is filthy with trash and even spills. There was a mop and a bucket sitting close to the seating area and it the water was filthy and almost black. It was obvious to me they haven't used a mop in that place for a while so I will assume that water has been in that bucket for an extended period. They had no napkins out so I had to go ask for some so they finally came out and put some napkins out. The ONLY reason they are getting 1star is the food was hot when we got it but I cannot help but think if they are willing to let the areas where the customers are look like that I can imagine what the kitchen looks like.
