Restaurant was supposed to open at 10:30. We stood out in the rain and they finally unlocked the door at 10:36. You would think they would have some food ready. We ordered and it took us 18 minutes to get 2 pc fish and 3 pcs chicken. The corn looked like it had been reheated multiple times and tasted nasty. The rest of the food was good but hush puppies were a little undercooked. They will only give you 1 pack of tarter sauce per piece unless you pay 10 cents extra for each additional pack. Abysmal food. Cold. Sent 9 packets of tartar sauce for five pieces of fish, even after my husband asked for extra twice. Anyone who eats this fish knows that you have to have the sauce to make it edible to begin with. And you can't eat it cold. The one side we got, corn, was absolutely disgusting, rubbery and didn't even taste like corn. Restaurant was super clean! The cashier was really nice and gave a good suggestion on what combo to get after I told her what I wanted. I could tell the cooks and/or staff were playing in the back which is not good for your imagination when you're sitting on the bench waiting for your food and all you hear is mayhem and ruckus. When I got my food back to my hotel it was still hot and everything was good. I ordered 2 pieces of fish (fried crispy) loaded baked potato which was great, hush puppies were hot and flavorful. I've never been more disappointed! We were passing through London Ky and decided to stop for lunch. Have always enjoyed LJS in the past. Went inside and stood at the counter for a good 10 minutes before someone decided to come and help. Ordered the number 13 I believe, 2 fish 3 chicken and my husband ordered the 2 piece chicken. Got our drinks and sat down and waited. Within a few minutes could see our meals sitting there on the counter in the kitchen. Asked the cashier if that was ours and she said it wasn't ready yet. A young man came from the back and asked if I needed help. Told him I had been waiting for our meals sitting there. Hput a piece of fish on one and handed me the tray. I had asked for malt vinegar and some cocktail sauce(2) which he said if I wanted more I'd have to pay for it! Went back to my table, opened the packet of vinegar to put on my fish and out poured slime. Very disgusted went back to counter, stood there until the cashier told the manager that I may need help, to which his reply was " WHAT IS IT NOW !" . I simply explained to him that I would like a different piece of fish because the vinegar came out slime. Which he gave me. Went back to my table and again opened and poured vinegar on it and again, nothing but slime came out! By this point I was so totally disgusted I said I couldn't eat and wanted to leave. On the way out the door I informed the manager that he needed to look into the vinegar packets before someone became very ill! Will NOT be visiting this establishment ever again!!!! read more

I was out on business today, but this location kept the Talk Like A Pirate Day festivities alive. I decided to go check this place out to see if I could take advantage of it and the employee taking my order made sure of it. I have to note though that if one looks at this location right now, it looks kind of rough. I am not sure if it is mid bankruptcy or mid renovation because the building signage is ripped off. At first, I thought this location was closed. The only way I knew that it was still open was because there were tons of cars in the drive thru and it was then that I decided I would brave it and talk like a pirate. I went through the drive thru and inquired about the promotion and at the window I was like "Should I do it? *she nods* and then I was like "Ahoy! I would like a piece of fish and coleslaw please!" I heard a giggle and I was reaching to pay for the coleslaw and found that she was going to give it to me for free as well! This was around 6 p.m. today. WAY TO KEEP UP WITH THE SPIRIT! read more

Customer service is shabby at best. Management Extremely rude and unhelpful (IF there is even a manager supposedly there . Food is horrible lately and Now they are advertising open but completely stripped for remodel or sell out... Who knows in London KY... Overall, they SHOULD CLOSE DOWN!!!! read more

Stopped in on friday afternoon to purchase a 8 pc family meal (about $36). Only 3 cars in drive thru. Line moving OK. Pulled up to speaker around 6 pm., 1 car present at window. Employee answered speaker; said he would be with me in a moment. Waited several minutes, no answer. Tried to leave, but drive thru was one lane with a curb on both sides. Could not pass car at window, 5-6 cars behind me. Stuck at speaker. 35 min later, car at window got their food. Waited a couple more minutes, but no answer on the speaker. Pulled to window, no one visible. Left restaurant and went to White Castle. Got 10 sliders in less than 5 min for $10. Would consider this a one time issue, but it's the 2nd time this has happened to me! Avoid on friday nights! If Long John's reads this, please make improvements! read more

As far as LJS are concerned, this is fine. The staff is very friendly and helpful; but I have to say I was quite annoyed when, after seeing 3 (literally) ad for a special, I found they didn't have it, I was pretty annoyed. I was still able to find something I could order; but what I got didn't satisfy my hunger. When I started eating I couldn't seem to be happy with what I ate; my fries were blah and my fish was so greasy, I didn't want to finish it. I'll probably come here again (and probably update my review), but it won't be my suggestion. read more

I went to LJS after almost a year tonight. Firstly, the restaurant was deserted with one one car at the drive through... And it was only 7pm. Secondly, the menu at the drive through was sooo lacking that I had to go in to ask questions. On inquiring if they still gave battered cod, 3 staff members gave me blank looks. Then another staff member came and said they had 'Alaskan', on which I asked 'Alaskan what?' And then again blank looks. Anyway, I ordered 8 pieces of battered cod, along with onion rings, cole slaw, corn on the cob and popcorn shrimps. The fish pieces were adequately cooked, while the onion rings were soggy. The popcorn shrimp was a big disappointment; one box was only full of crumbs!!! Not a single shrimp!! The only thing that was great n fresh were the cole slaw and corn. Overall 5/10.... I feel sad that there is already a dearth of restaurants in London... And when they behave like this, they'll lose patronage too. read more

Just stopped thru the drive thru and ordered the fish and shrimp platter. That is literally what I had when I got home....no fries, no cole slaw and not even one crunchy flake. There was no one else in the drive thru and the inside dining is closed until 6/1. Guess it true what people say, "quality seems to slip when businesses are slow". read more

Awesome location!! Walked in and it was a basic cook to order. Hot fresh chicken and fish. The french fries were hot and so were the hushpuppies!! The slaw was real good. Would recommend this location. Very good. Clean restrooms. Clean establishment. No dirty tables here. Make sure you ring the bell next to the door on the right hand side to show appreciation to the staff for a job well done. They like that and appreciate it alot. read more

I usually do not eat at LJS but I am traveling for my job and it was right across the lot from my hotel, so needless to say it was convenient. I pulled up to the drive through lane and placed my order it was fast. When I arrived at the window the young lady asked me if I wanted any sauce and I replied yes I would like extra tartar sauce please. She replied no problem. I paid for my food went back to my hotel and what do you know ........I HAD NO SAUCE EVEN AFTER SHE ASKED IF I WANTED ANY AND I ASKED FOR EXTRA! This completely ruined my whole meal. It's little details like that can hurt a business and unfortunately I won't be returning to this one. read more

the front counter kid taking my order was clueless. had to repeat my order 3 times. then after handling money he starts making my food without washing his hands or using gloves. then to top it off, he wipes his nose with his hands and continues making my fish tacos bare handed with his snot hands.
