The restaurant was fairly clean, and what stood out most was the customer service. There was only one employee working the front counter, the drive-thru, and even hand-delivering food as it came out of the kitchen. Despite having a line of customers, he stayed friendly, efficient, and never seemed to lose his positive attitude. On the way out, I rang the famous Long John Silver's bell to recognize the great service, and he smiled and called out, "Thanks, come again!" We recently went on a Sunday afternoon and got food poisoning. When our chicken and fish were lukewarm, we were pretty disappointed, but went ahead and ate part of it. It seemed like maybe they leave the same food sitting all day, maybe use it more than one day, and dip it in the oil briefly to make it seem like they just cooked it. We should have given it back and asked for our money back. We don't like to cause trouble, and just dealt with it. We were violently ill and missed work Monday morning. We have gone here for years, and it has gone downhill, but didn't think it would be to this extreme. We were the only people there, shouldn't have been too difficult to use fresh food. The restaurant is filthy and the garbage inside and out were overflowing. We know this didn't happen in a day. I would not recommend going here at all. Very big health risk. read more

This LJS is close to our house and that is what we like to come here. That said, almost every time we order they forget something, but they make it right the next thing we go in. Fast greasy fish, could you love anything else...? Ok, on most occasions this place isn't that fast. They're making it fresh and I can bare a couple mere minutes for a fresh greased fish, chicken, fries, corn, or puppies. One of my friends use to have a problem with this establishment not giving enough tater sauce. Even when she was willing to pay extra. I was witness to the whole manager phone TS debate. Now all is better and they are no longer stingy with the sauce in the drive thru. lol I've never eaten inside. They fixed the drive-thru speaker so the people can hear you. One star is way too many for this place. Arrived at 7:45 p.m. last Saturday evening (Sept 11, 2021) and they were shutting down. At the drive-through, we ordered an extra piece of fish for one of our combos. When paying with cash, we told the gal to keep the change. Didn't get a thank you - nothing. Like it was expected. That was the first faux pas - but it got way worse. Waited for our food in a waiting parking spot for 10 minutes. When we got our food, we parked in their parking lot so we could eat it hot. Well, we did NOT get the extra fish. I said no way are we going to get cheated just because they are closing. So, hubby went to go knock on the drive-up window but a guy came out to smoke. When hubby told him they had shorted us, the guy threw down his cigarette and went back inside - without an apology or anything. He had a bad attitude. A woman came out then and wanted to SEE our meals to make sure we weren't conning them! We showed her and she said "I put the extra in there. Well, I'll go get another piece for you." When she came out a minute later (mind you, we didn't have to wait for it to be cooked so we knew they had cooked it, but just didn't get it in our food), there was NO APOLOGY, nothing. She handed it to my husband and that was it. Mistakes happen BUT it was the rudeness of the visit that angered us. The fish in the combos were nearly all coating and very little fish. I got sick on it that night with all of the grease. They have lost any future business from us with their attitudes and the greasy food. I'm sure there are other places who are struggling with their "help" but if you want to stay in business, then improve your service and your food. You have competition - lots of it! read more

My three piece chicken meal was very good, with tasty cole slaw, delicious meaty slightly crunchy but not greasy fries, and okay chicken. The service at the counter was welcoming, professional, and polite. My meal was delivered to my table seven minutes after I ordered at the counter. If you like good greasy food at a moderately fast pace, LJS is the place for you. This is a LJS/A&W so a good option when you have picky eaters with the variety. This particular LJS can be hit and miss with the battered product depending on who is working. At times it is perfectly cooked with a nice crispy layer of batter, other times it is overly battered and you get that layer of slimy, doughy, ick between the crisp outside and the fish. Food took a long time to get out, and when I left fifteen minutes later (I was the only person in the drive thru), I had one of the smallest pieces of chicken ever seen and a tiny shrimp (which I do recognize the irony of). Since the order had two pieces of chicken and three shrimp, these were major parts of the meal we were shorted on. Asked for crunchies, didn't get them. No vinegar offered, no sides offered, none received . Called to complain, when I'm in Olathe again, they may replace exactly what was undersized, not one item more. I wish there was a minus stars choice! Basically, I drove thru and paid to pick up this restaurant's garbage and haul it off for them. The fish didn't even taste like fish and was greasy. The fries were so stale they were all shriveled up and went straight in the trash. The coleslaw was nasty and it went in the trash. A few hours later I was awake all night running to the bathroom. The root beer was so watered down it didn't even taste like root beer. It was more like expensive colored water. Had I been closer I would have taken this bag of garbage back and asked for a refund. Paid for oder, realized the order was wrong. I told the guy at the window it was wrong and he lost it. First off I do what to say the blonde working the drive through which seemed to be the manager was supper nice and on top of helping customers, so good job there! But that that does not compensate for how disgusting this place is. The floor is covered with food, dead bugs and you stick to the floor as you walk. The drink station looks like it has not even cleaned for years and held tighter with nails sticking out and that counter top is about to fall off the wall. Everything and I do mean everything is covers in old food, soda and who knows what else. This has been the dirtiest place I have ever seen in my life. The boy cleaning the tables used a dirty paper towel to clean every table off at once not using spray or any cleaner once the whole time cleaning them.
