Hubby and I celebrated our 40th anniversary here last weekend. We asked for and were seated by a window. There was a 'Happy Anniversary' card on our table signed by the staff, such a nice touch! Our waitress greeted us warmly and wished us happy anniversary and told us that for celebrating with them we'd receive a special dessert or a champagne toast. Another lovely surprise. We ordered cocktails and enjoyed their delicious bread service of freshly baked popovers. For dinner I had their Catch of the Day, Black Cod, wrapped in speck, served with saffron couscous. It could not have been more delicious. My husband enjoyed their Three Way Chicken, a dish so plentiful he took one piece home with him. We were both so pleased with our meals we didn't want to eat to excess, so our server offered to send our dessert home with us. The service, ambience and food were all wonderful. Today's review comes to you from the land of manicured greens and pricing that definitely knows it's on a golf course. We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. We made a reservation ahead of time and had some request for a bit of view certain dietary restrictions in They make sure that everything was taken under consideration. I can bet that this is one of the finest fine dine restaurants in Lenexa there are some other options in the downtown but obviously this place has its own charm with the white view. Amazing sunset, spacious, great parking. This restaurant takes special care for the food. The chefs are extremely creative and the tasting menu changes pretty often. We got to try some of their specials for the month and we were extremely satisfied with it very humble and respectable service. FPO and I always celebrate New Year's Eve by finding somewhere to watch the last sunset of the year. This year we decided to splurge with a fancy dinner too. The ambiance of Silo Modern Farmhouse was classy casual and very appealing. Our server was Sophie and she was phenomenal. Sophie's actually the reason I'm giving Silo three stars instead of one. She was friendly and personable, very knowledgeable about the menu. The food .. was meh. I wanted to like it more than I actually did. I really wanted to like it because of the atmosphere and service. It was just disappointing. Everything else about the restaurant was really nice. The food wasn't worth the price. FPO and I got the Brie Spinach and Brussel Sprouts dip for an appetizer and added crab and lobster. For the entree we got the Tomahawk Steak for Two. It came with Caesar Salad and two sides. We got the Cous Cous and Leeks and Mushroom. We also added the Roasted Brussel Sprouts. The Caesar Salad was a few pieces of whole Romaine leaves with the dressing on top, a crostini on the side, and what I think were fried anchovies used as a garnish. The presentation looked really pretty but the flavors didn't impress. The Cous Cous was mushy with too strong of a bell pepper presence; the Brussel Sprouts were soggy, and the leeks and mushrooms were just okay. The Brie dip had some pieces of wrapping from the cheese still in it and then fried pita was chewy. Sophie informed her kitchen and the manager came over. It was she who told us what we found in the dip. She offered a free dessert or to comp our drinks. (We pulled Sophie aside to ask her to make sure the manager understood what she was offering. We'd gotten a really nice bottle of Greenwing Cabernet Sauvignon.) In the end we chose the drinks. I just wasn't in the mood to try anymore food. The Tomahawk Steak was overcooked. We ordered medium rare, it was closer to medium. It was also under seasoned. Oh, and we found out when we got home, when the restaurant packed up our leftovers, the didn't include the huge steak bone with all extra meat still on it. I don't think they can reuse it for anything and it bothers me that they would've just thrown it away. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I won't go back. read more

Food and ambience is pretty nice and casually upscale but service can be pretty poor. Of course they'll serve bigger parties but they have like 3-4 servers at a big table socializing while our party and a couple of others were waiting for like 15min before even being asked for drinks. Best to come at a not so busy time. Food is amazing. I really recommend the half chicken, super juicy and delicious, probably one of the best chicken dishes I've had at a sit down. The food was tasty, but the service was very slow. We had a 6:30 reservation. We waited 20 meetings to be seated. We waited another 10 minutes to for waitress. We placed our drink orders and waited another 30 minutes for our drinks and bread. So an hour from our reservation time, we got our drinks. We waited again another 20 minutes to place our order because our waitress had forgotten her order pad and meanwhile had to also take care of other tables. We had a beautiful view and like I said, the food was good. But the wait times seemed ridiculous. Also, I will add that credit to the manager in that we had a coupon that had expired, but she honored it anyway. read more

I was there for an event so It hard for me to do an official review. The area is very nice and cozy. Reminds me a lot of being at a CO resort. The event we were at had salad for starter. It was a good mix of greens and was fresh. The main course was a choice between, Salmon, Chicken and Steak. Again I don't want to rate it on the food my steak was over cooked and tough, I know that since it was a group event that it would be better if I was there to just eat. We had a relatively good experience here. We came for our anniversary and had a reservation. We were promptly seated and the waiter was attentive, he wished us a happy anniversary. Later in the night though, he asked us if we were celebrating anything and we had to repeat that it was our anniversary. An honest mistake though as I know he had a lot of tables. The food was super delicious and came out pretty quickly. We did feel like we waited quite a while between seeing the menu and the waiter coming back, but they were busy. It was a bit of a bummer as the couple next to us had their anniversary too and we overheard them offered champagne on the house. We had no such luck, but ended up buying our own bottle. We paid for a dessert as well. A small gesture would've been nice especially knowing they offered it to some other folks. My husband loved his salmon, and my scallops were a delight. I think my favorite part was the appetizer, which was a tasty spinach artichoke dip with brussels. My second time eating here, first time for lunch. This was my husband's first time. We didn't have a reservation but were able to sit on the patio. It was fun watching the golfers and it wasn't a super hot and humid day so worked out great. Service was attentive and everything came out quickly. We started with the smoked cheese curds and they are so unique and delicious. The bacon jam that comes with it is amazing. I got the half size honey berry salad with chicken. I heard so many good things about this place... great sunset views, great farm to table foods, and that service was amazing. It was mostly true when we went on New Year's Eve. We did like our waitress, Sophie, and she was attentive. The food was jus ok for us. The sunset was amazing! We always try to get a pic of the last sunset of the year and this place had a great view. Sophie was patient with us since this was our first time. She offered the specials, but we continued to look over the menu. We ordered the $15 brie spinach and brussel sprouts appetizer and added the $8 crab and lobster. We did like that. We also got the $48 bottle of the Greenwing by Duckhorn Cabernet wine. The dip came with crostini and fried pita. The pita tasted stale & slightly soggy like it sat in the oil too long and left out. We told Sophie and she brought us more crostini. We later found out that she charged us $4 for the extra crostini. For dinner we opted for the $150 tomahawk steak for 2 that came with a cesar salad and 2 sides and added the blue cheese butter. New Year's Eve, why not splurge right? We chose the leeks and wild mushrooms and pesto saffron couscous for the sides. Wifey added a side of brussel sprouts. I thought the leeks/mushrooms were good, but wifey wasn't too impressed. The couscous was a bit soggy. The brussel sprouts were mushy and kinda bland. We asked for the steak to be med-rare, but it came out mostly medium. The only part that was med-rare was the middle. It was moist and tender tho. The cesar salad came out as a wedge, which surprised both of us since the menu didn't mention it was one. We had a bit of a time cutting into the wedge since it was on a kinda narrow plate. Thinkin bout it, it was more like half slice of a romaine head than a wedge. The salad didn't have much flavor to it. I found out that those brown crispy things on the lettuce was extra fried anchovies. I thought they were crispy won tons and popped one in my mouth. It was crispy for sure, but my face musta said somethin to wifey. She asked what's wrong and I told her with a sour face that it was fried anchovies. I'm not a big fan of anchovies by themselves. Wifey found somethin in the blue cheese butter and gave it to Sophie to show her manager. The manager later came out sayin it was the plastic wrap around the butter. She then told us she'd comp the dessert if we got any or she'd comp the drinks. Wifey and I looked at each other with wide eyes on that last part cause we got a bottle of wine. We asked Sophie if that was right and she said yes after double checking with the manager. Wifey and I looked over the dessert menu, but nothin caught our eye. We decided to go Avelutos for tiramisu afterwards. Unfortunately they were closed by the time we got out of Silo's. We asked to box up the leftovers and to re-cork the wine. We got home and I found out Silo's kept the bone that still had meat on it. Wifey and I were both surprised since it was a farm to table restaurant. The ones we've been to before gave everything that was on the plate if you took home anything. Sophie did take our pics with the last sunset of 2025. We appreciate her checkin up on us throughout the meal. Ultimately we decided that we liked the scenery and Sophie, but the food was jus ok. After the 3rd occurrence, I informed the server as gently as I could that he would be better served to only refer to "girls" to people 18 and under. I tried four times to make reservations. Couldn't book a party of 7 on the website so I called and left three messages for someone to call me. No one ever returned my call. Came here for a special occasion with my partner, just happened to be during restaurant week as well. We had the osso bucco which was cooked really nicely. Pretty tender, maybe could have used a bit more sauce to make each bite my flavorful, but still delicious. The beef shoulder was cooked perfectly, so tender and juicy and the potato lyonnaise was a delicious bite to go with it. Service was great, our server was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. One thing I think could have been better was the pacing of our dishes. Because we did the restaurant week menu we had a 4 course meal and they were not spread out enough. We were not done eating our first course when the second came, and so on. Not the biggest deal but trying to keep up with the pace of the dishes coming out detracted from the experience a bit. The restaurant is above a golf course clubhouse. Very nice place. We had drinks (I ordered an adult beverage and not just my tea). My drink, the Sangria, I thought would be a little sweeter but it was still good. Hubs ordered.....Not sure. Lol It was apple flavored and had whiskey in it. It was tasty. The *best* dining experience in western JoCo with a sensational view to boot! Whether you're up for a happy hour or a full table of dinnergoers, Silo is a fabulous option. First, unless you're dropping in for an afternoon drink, make a reservation. Silo fills up quickly and the fare keeps people coming back as repeats. Their happy hour lineup is pretty sensational, and you should do yourself a favor and get the Whipped Goat Cheese appetizer whether it's happy hour or not. Options like the baked Brie (served with lavosh) and short rib tacos are certainly solid choices as well. There is a stellar menu top-to-bottom, whether fish, fowl, or more. The pan-seared salmon is a fave of my wife, and while I've had the pork chop, the Boursin tenderloin, and more, my winner is the oregano gnocchi, served in a Parmesan cream sauce with wild mushrooms. Pro tip: add a protein to the dish, such as a few slices of tenderloin and just enjoy the goodness. Make sure you give a look at the wine & cocktail menu, if that's your thing. Their 19th hole old fashioned certainly hits right, and you can even build a 'flight' of four wines one Wednesday evenings. The mixology is pretty stellar and the wine list has something for virtually any wine palate. If weather allows, then have a table on the deck and enjoy the sunsets views. The view to the west overlooks the club pool and portions of the golf course, but you get a clear view to the west and the sunsets I've captured have been first class. Just like Silo. read more

How does this place keep getting better?!?! I took my SigO here for her birthday. The food just keeps getting better and better! We started with the Whipped Goat Cheese platter. This little gem has whipped goat cheese (go figure), crustini, mustard, ham, honey, and berries. The combinations are amazing and really sets the meal up right! Next for entrees, we had the Gnocchi and the Braised Short Rib Ragu. I'll start with the Ragu... So if it is Braised Short Rib you better believe I'm gonna order it! And when you make a wonderful buttery cream sauce and ensure that the noodles are made from sweet potatoes... just yum, yum, yum! The gnocchi was cooked to perfection (some day I'll figure out how to fry it like that without it sticking to my pans)! This one was hand made with oregano and in a bed of mushrooms, tomatoes, and a delicious cream sauce... what is not to like? First I highly recommend making reservations they are pretty busy. I took my family for a nice dinner just to enjoy each other's company. We ordered dri ks I had the special pineapple and jalapeño margarita it was delicious. The oak and smoke is delightful. Our server was very attentive and took great care of us. Appetizers were great the ceviche was really good, I like their take on it. The cakes were also really good, small portion so not much for sharing. The lambchops were seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing. My son and I shared the Tomahawk steak with potatoes and Brussel sprouts. While all of that was delicious for the price it was disappointing how much fat was on our cut of meat. Neither of us like fat or grizzle on our meat and when a quarter of the 40 oz steak is fat, not worth it. But everything was extremely tasty and the service was awesome. Great atmosphere! We always enjoy our experience at Silo. Located adjoined to the golf course, there's a country club atmosphere (I think, I've never been a member of one) and the staff is always kind and professional. The interior is spacious and seems well lit no matter what time you go. We dined in for lunch and our server informed us they changed over their menu about a month ago so I was sure we would be trying something new to us. I went with the brioche short rib sandwich with a side of brussels sprouts. Certainly a quality meal but I wasn't blown away. The short rib was very nice and constructed similar to a burger patty but I wish the flavor was boosted. The flavor of the brussels sprouts was great but I found them hard and difficult to eat. I want to be clear that this is just my opinion of these two items and not a judgement of their food as a whole. Silo has a very nice drink menu with cocktail, beer, and wine options. Can't say enough about the great service here! We look forward to coming back to try their brunch next time. read more

Silo is a beautifully constructed concept. I've only dined during brunch, so that's what I'll write about. The restaurant brags that their brunch dishes are made from scratch and I have no reason not to believe them. You'll choose from a menu full of hearty American breakfast classics that include three egg omelets, biscuits and gray, a B.E.L.T. sandwich (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato,) Eggs Benedict, a braised pork hash and more. If you feeling more like an afternoon-inspired meal, the menu features lunch favorites like the Hangover Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Sunday Chicken and the Kansas Berkshire Pork Shoulder. A dessert and fruits buffet is available for an extra charge. Mimosas, Bloody Marys and other adult beverages are, too. One small note: the restaurant layout looks great, however when it fills up - and it will - the sound will bounce around the high ceilings and get loud.
