Went twice during our one week stay, wish we had been able to go more often! We drove once, took our boat the next time. Excellent ice cream - Gifford's! Loved the hot fudge! The sign featured here saying "cash only" is outdated - they do take cards, yes for a small percentage more, but it's understandable why, we've seen this at many small businesses over the years. Friendly service, well organized. It can at times be very crowded, but they know what they're doing, have a great system, and the line moves quickly. We were always able to snag one of the tables. Great atmosphere right on the water, very "Maine-ish"! It's associated with the Village Tie Up immediately adjacent to them, a homey general store serving everything from milk to freshly made sandwiches and pizza to adult beverages. If I could give negative reviews I would. This place does not serve anyone with nut allergies. I seriously don't know how they even have business when there's so many people with nut allergies. The girls were rude and were not accommodating at all. Would not recommend if you have allergies. I hope the people working there don't have a good day. Thanks. read more

Honestly. The ice cream flavors were fine. The portions were fine. The proximity to the dock is great. I wish the ice cream made more of an impact. Maybe if there were more sprinkles? More joy from the folks working? Nicer customers? I don't know. It's hot. It's summer. They're doing good. read more

Good ice-cream, friendly prompt service. My husband is a vanilla guy with jimmies , always, he said his was good. I got a small toasted coconut was very good. I thought it was a bit much for me, next time I'll get a kiddie cone. The view from the tables i is really the star of the show though. read more

This place is new since my last visit in the area. My father in law feels it is the best in the world. Cute little building that you walk up to and get in line. The line moves relatively fast which is no problem as it gave me a chance to decide. Which is very difficult as everything sounds so good. I prefer Hard ice cream so got chocolate in a cup. The girls ordering sheet was pretty clever and probably cuts down on the person taking your order from making any errors. My father in law got his ice cream in a cup with a cone as well as chocolate sprinkles. I will definitely come back during my visit as I need to try out more of their flavors. Perhaps I will go earlier in the day so I can walk here and burn off calories as well. Need to find out the hours though so I can update this listing as it seems to have limited information. The girl at the counter I told her she was lucky to work there as she can try out all the flavors. She didn't acknowledge what I was saying just gave me a smile. read more

Got my order wrong, then interrupted me and yelled at me after asking for the right order. After waiting for 20 minutes, the manager comes out, hands me the right order, then yells ay me for "yelling" at the person taking the order, when the closest it came to was saying something assertively. Waited at least 20 minutes to get our ice cream after ordering (3 cups of hard serve--nothing special) and ended up giving us one the wrong size. Have no idea what the two kids back there were doing that it would take so long between getting each person in line their order, but it really put a damper on things. Come here every year and never had a wait like this, no matter how busy. Very disappointing. read more

We couldn't find a decent ice cream since we were staying in Bethel, Mainem . We mistakenly found this place and know it is on a lake but don't know the exact address since it is a brand new place. Their sign says since 2015. FYI THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH, NO CREDIT CARD/DEBIT CARDS. In turn I didn't get a receipt with their exact location. I got the blueberry and smores icecream(medium which is two scoops). The blueberry icecream was soooooooo good. My husband got the fly fishing flavor which was awesome and my son peanut butter pie which he loved. My daughter got the soft serve cheesecake which she really liked. The three of us got mediums plus the soft serve added up to about $13 which to me is a great price. I have paid a lot more for the four of us to go out for icecream. Well worth and they have 3-4 tables outside with umbrellas so you can enjoy your icecream. I think the brand they serve is Gifford's icecream. read more
