As I've moved up to Aroostook County, Maine, ive had some of the worst pizza ive ever had up there so on a recent trip back from CT, I searched out "New Haven style pizza in Maine" and "Fire & Ice Maine popped up so I tried it today! The service and people working there could not be nicer and when they knew I was from Connecticut, we really got into the nuances of what makes it great. I actually met the owner on my way out and he could not be nicer, telling me all of the places he's been to and worked at in the New Haven pizza area of Wooster Street. So I got in my car and opened up the box and was pleasantly surprised to finally see a pizza even look like New Haven. After biting into it, it was addicting! No flop, an "8" on the undercarriage and cooked right on top! The sauce was very close and it was crispy too! The only thing off and this is REALLY being picky was the chewiness but again, this is really being picky! Overall, a 4.8 on a 5 star scale and THEE BEST NEW HAVEN APIZZA is. MAINE to date! I got smoked ribs (probably a half rack) for $11.99, Cole slaw and a broccoli bacon salad. They had multiple refrigerators and freezers with everything you can imagine, frozen Slab pizza, health drinks, locals meats, local ice cream, etc. I noticed a huge wall of local coffee so I will be going back to hopefully find espresso beans, which are challenging to come by. But if I'm nitpicking, I think the ham and cheese could be improved if the ham inside steams rather than crisping - it gets rubbery and not that enjoyable to chew through.
