I must admit that it was hard to give this place five stars because the seating is so awkward (I still do not understand why the place next door cannot be used at lunch) and at lunch I sometimes like to go and sit quietly by myself, which is hard to do here. But, the food is so good that I am giving this five stars anyway and I greatly encourage guests to Springfield to eat lunch in one of these fine downtown establishments as we have become fun and eclectic. Saw the reviews for this place and saw it on multiple lists as the #1 restaurant in town so I had to give it a shot. Three of us grabbed food to go there and after we ate we were all three believers. The food is unique but not too crazy, mostly sandwiches and soups, and the portions are bigger than I expected. They have a daily special as well as a nice selection of standard choices. Also they have fresh cookies and fresh bread to complement whatever amazing soup/sandwich you get and their homemade salad dressing is a apple cider vinegar and honey blend that was unique and delicious The staff was very friendly and more than happy to explain anything on the menu. Holy cow this was so good! I had the roast chicken and oh my lord it's the best chicken flat out I've ever had. So juicy, perfectly seasoned. The prices were decent and definitely worth it for the amount of food you get. Also, the aesthetics of the place really did it for me. Walked into this place on a Yelp pop-up recommendation. I wasn't disappointed. They have a daily menu featuring a lot of local produce and house-made fare. Love this place. I have to visit Springfield often because of my job and this will def be where I come all the time! I had a yummy soup with coconut milk and rice and cilantro don't remember the name just remember it being awesome! When I came in I was greeted with smiles and hellos. The ambiance is very original and quaint. I'm vegan/vegetarian so it's nice that there is a place with vegan/veggie options. They also looked to have some yummy sandwiches with meat and yummy salads. I was asked how my food was and had a brief conversation with staff. I was thanked for coming in. This is how service and food should be. Highly recommend this place!!! read more

There's nothing I dislike more than ordering something at a cafe/restaurant and regretting my choice once I try someone else's food. It's sort of a form of FOMO but in terms of food. I think everyone knows what I'm talking about and if you don't, then I don't think you truly love food. This is sadly what happened at Long Nine Junction. I ordered a Cubano sandwich with an upgraded side of German potatoes. I'm not saying my food wasn't good because it definitely was...but it wasn't amazing like the Jamaican Beef Stew that my friends ordered. That stew is on another level; it is packed with a ton of flavor and is just really good comfort food for a cold winter day (yes, I'm aware it's technically not winter yet). This café is very cozy and welcoming and is definitely a popular place for lunch since we barely snagged a table before a long line formed at the register up front. If I'm ever in Springfield again I will come back here and order the right thing next time! read more

Amazing. One of the best restaurants to come to Springfield in years! I had the day's special: the Bavarian platter, which came with a Bunn Farms sausage, german potato salad, pickled cucumbers and radishes, a cheese sauce, assorted greens, and a pretzel roll. Everything here is fresh. They even grow some of their own herbs. They make their own iced tea and lemonade and do a fine job. Their best food that I have had so far is their roast beef meal or French dip. They have those specialty sodas and chips. What an awesome place! Did a quick yelp search while in Springfield during a business trip and found this place for dinner. I ordered the chicken and my coworker ordered the braised chipotle pork with a German potato salad. We both enjoyed our meals very much. My chicken was cooked perfectly and the rolls that we got were delicious. The owner was very friendly and spent a little time talking to us about the city. The atmosphere was very chill. I stopped in here during a day trip to Springfield. The staff was very nice and welcoming. I had the Southwest salad, which was delicious. The owner even came by with a free sample of a new rhubarb scone recipe they were working on. The only drawback was that they hadn't started serving coffee yet, which they said would be coming soon. The location is a short walk from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, the Illinois Capital, and right across the street from the Old State Capitol. We'll be stopping in again on our next trip to Springfield. read more

This was my first visit to this place. It has a very cute interior and I enjoyed the music that was playing. The menu is displayed in a very creative way and I liked the themed headers for the sections. The food was excellent! I had the Parisian sandwich since someone on here had suggested it, along with a side of mac and cheese. The sandwich has a country sausage patty with farmer's cheese, goat's cheese, and apple butter. Those flavors mixed together perfectly. It was delicious. The mac and cheese was pretty good, too. I was surprised to see tricolor macaroni used, but it works. They also sell baked goods, as well. I had the Mexican chocolate cookie sandwich since it was Cinco de Mayo, and they were giving them out as a promotional thing. It was also pretty good. I would highly recommend this new addition to downtown Springfield. It's a great local restaurant that hopefully will be around for a while. read more

Absolutely incredible!!! I had the French Dip Sandwich (which was, without a doubt, the BEST one I have ever had) and the Tom Kha soup...THAT stuff is addicting!!! And the prices are very reasonable.
