Loved this place. Great food. I had the apple butter pork bbq over mac and cheese - soooo good! Hubby had the turkey sandwich - loaded with tasty turkey. Order at the register, take a seat and they bring your food to your table. Service was fast and staff were very friendly. This place has delicious food!! I am partial to the sandwiches hot from the press. They have a very polite and hard working staff, sure to bring a smile to your face. The place has a very homegrown/grassroots feel, and a great view of the old state capital. Really cool interior. The seating situation isn't exactly ideal; there are about 4-4 tops, 4 seats at the window, and 4-5 seats at the bar, that's it. So if they are busy, it can feel a little claustro in there, or you may have to get to-go or wait on a table. Honestly it's worth it, the food is 5 stars!! read more

Nice little.restaurant across from the old state capitol. The menu is different from most places that you find downtown. Had the Broasted chicken with twice baked potato and grilled asparagus. The made from scratch rolls were delicious and browned perfectly. Owner brought out a sample of a white chocolate and strawberry brownie for the wife and I when we were done with our meal. Heard lots of good things about this place so we went last night. It really was good food. I had the hand carved roast beef, mashies, salad and a homemade dinner roll...YUM! My husband had the pork shoulder special and he said it was delicious. Loved the atmosphere. Neat little picnic tables along the wall. Waitresses were wonderful and even gave us a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie after, which was also delicious. I highly recommend this place. It's reasonably priced and good homemade food. Every single item, from the ginger coconut soup with cilantro rice and fresh shredded vegetables, sautéed zucchini (something in the sauce was so tasty), greens, to the dinner bread with (homemade?) butter (What do they do around here to keep these rolls so yeasty and dense and moist and satisfying?) really indulged my tastebuds! There wasn't a mediocre item, and all of them were presented so beautifully (even the vegetables were cut in pretty patterns). A lot of thought went into these dishes, and the staff are very kind. I have eaten here twice for lunch now and the food was fantastic both times. This is definitely a place I will come back to again. I have tasted the Cubano, Tijuana, and French dip. All of them were good but the Tijuana so far has been my favorite sandwich. The house made hot sauce also goes great with the Tijuana sandwich. Like other people have mentioned the place is a little small so seating can be limited but don't let that stop you from missing out on some great food. read more

We stayed overnight in Springfield to catch the early train up to the windy city. Looking for some good eats that were good for us, we stumbled upon the Long Nine Junction on yelp. After reading a bunch of really good reviews from former patrons, we stopped looking. Its nice to find a farm to table type restaurant when possible. The staff was so delightful, food was excellent a perfect experience. Had the grilled cheese & the mac n cheese, best ever, melt in your mouth. So glad we didn't over look this little gem! read more

In town for work, and stumbled upon Long Nine Junction. Sandwiches were DELICIOUS, fresh bread was amazing, German potatoes were yum, and the staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Design, look, and theme are cool, and Pink Floyd and The Who as the soundtrack. Definitely recommend. read more

My husband & I popped in here for dinner. I had the garlic bread grilled cheese which was phenomenal! I also had a peanut butter cookie bar for dessert which was huge and delicious! This restaurant is amazing. The food is fantastic. My wife and I have started coming here regularly and while she usually gets the grilled mac n cheese sandwich, I've had several different things from the menu. Today's Philly sandwich was awesome. The portion sizes are good and the price isn't bad. Locally sourced ingredients. The fresh baked bread is always good. Corey and his staff do a great job in the kitchen, while his wife Emily clearly is working hard in the front and always provides excellent service. We've yet to see her without a smile on her face.
