In addition to acupuncture, Dr. Lee also loves to educate his patients with a good sense of humor about nutrition (especially eating breakfast, lol) and other healthy lifestyle choices for longevity. I just left from my second appointment here as part of an ongoing plan to help with stiffness in my neck as well as mid + lower back pain. Mr. Lee is a no for me. His practice accepts my insurance and after reading the reviews on Yelp, I wanted to see him. I've been searching for a new acupuncturist after moving out of Oakland. I went to see Mr. Lee at his other location in Pleasanton. During our consultation, I was already feeling a bit hesitant about him when he asked me how my anxiety shows up in my life, how does depression show up in my life. As if I had to explain the symptoms and prove that I was not ok. After sharing about my history with depression, I told him, "I don't feel happy." He literally says "Why not? There's so much to be happy about. You speak good English. There's people in Afghanistan who are suffering." I'm a highly sensitive person as well. I told him, mr. Lee, I understand your perspective but what you just said to me is insensitive and invalidates my experiences. Man I was upset. If you have physical ailments, then mr. Lee can help treat you. However if you deal with emotional distress and mental illness such as depression, then I would not recommend mr Lee. read more

Dr. Lee is very knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients. I have been going to him for over a year now for a variety of things. First, I was in a car accident and was having some lower back and neck pain. With the help of acupuncture and tui-na (somewhat of a massage/manipulation/stretching) my neck and back are almost healed. I still get tune-ups weekly because it does pop back up if I sleep funny or sit for too long. Secondly, Dr. Lee has been treating my dysmenorrhea (menstrual pains) with acupuncture and herbs. When I keep on top of the treatments, I can go about my daily life during menstruation where I typically can't even get out of bed. My quality of life has definitely improved. Dr. Lee takes a holistic approach to health and makes recommendations on stress reduction, diet, and other lifestyle modifications according to the symptoms I experience. Even though sometimes the recommendations can seem bizarre, if you're at your wit's end with western medication, it may benefit you to give his eastern methodologies a chance. For me, it's hard to stick to all of his advice (especially diet) but I'm sure if I stuck to a strict diet it would help my health a lot (too bad I love eating meat and fried food lol) His schedule in Oakland is Full days on Monday, Wednesday morning, and Full day Friday. He's somewhat flexible with appointment times, even staying late for me when I didn't get off work until after 5. His office has 3 rooms (2 with 2 beds if you want to get a treatment with a family member or friend) and 1 single room. You never have to share rooms with a stranger. Treatments last anywhere from 30 mins to 1 hour+ sometimes if no one is scheduled after me and he sees that I'm super tired, Dr. Lee lets me take a 2-hour nap while I get my acupuncture. [UPDATE] Its been about 5 months sine I started going to see Dr. Lee 1-2 times a week (depending on what my schedule permits). I am happy to say that I experience little to no pain daily. I have maintained the appts so everything has improved so much. I can run 4 miles with no body pan and I am able to use my hands more for work before getting strained. Dr. Lee has also helped me with other ailments like anxiety and frequent urination. He talks to me during my appointments, asking what I eat and how my digestion is. He really practices holistic healing. Acupuncture has been the only treatment that adequately addresses my Lupus symptoms. I won't see anyone else! I've referred 2 of my co-workers and I would recommend Dr. Lee to anyone! He's rarely ever behind schedule, respectful, kind, and incredibly attentive. read more

I came to see Dr. Lee in the month of May when I was experiencing acute pain on my shoulder, neck and spine. The minute I stepped in his office he was courteous, concise, asked the right questions and he said I will take care of you in 6 visits and the pain should be gone  by then. After each treatment he even helped with a mini massage technique to help with the stiffness. He suggested a couple of minor changes to my protein intake, and after 5 visits the pain was completely gone! I threw out my back over a year ago and it hasn't been pain-free since. I recently got into a pretty bad car accident and my car was totaled. The back pains were worst than normal and I had difficulties sitting at work for long hours. Kaiser just suggested icing the back and taking some pain meds for inflammation. After a couple of days of no improvement, someone had suggested I go see Dr. Lee. He was very thorough with the initial consult, and was gentle with the needles. After about 15 min of letting the needles work their magic, he performed some massaging and minor adjustment. My back felt looser and I was able to move and turn with a lot less pain. After about 3-4 sessions, I was finally able to sit at my desk for longer than a couple of hours. After 3 more sessions, Dr. Lee said that I could go back to working out but low impact only. He suggested a lot of warm up and stretching to loosen up my back before doing any exercising. He said even if I feel like my back is a lot better, it takes a some time to heal completely and grow strong again. Dr. Lee calls his business "Longevity" because he truly wants you to have a better life. He explains that he can temporarily "fix" your ailments but it's ultimately up to you to completely heal. While treating me for my back, he asked what I did for a living, when he found out i sit in front of a computer 8+ hrs a day he said that definitely isn't good for my back. He suggest getting up every couple of hours walk around the office, stretch a bit to make sure your body isn't frozen in some awkward position in front of the computer. If available, take a walk outside, take in some fresh air, reset you mood. I know it sounds cheesy but haven't you noticed that sometimes you just need get some fresh air, clear your mind and reset. Dr. Lee is very patient, thorough in his explanations and willing to answer any questions you may have. He doesn't just spend 15 minutes treating you and send you on your way. I have no words to express how amazing my experience with Dr. Lee has been. I came to Dr. Lee's office two years ago after two years of excruciating foot pain that began after a long day of intense physical labor. Until visiting Longevity Acupuncture and Herbs I personally did not believe in doctors/medical practice. I'd always noticed the cold and distant evaluation practice and definitely taken after my grandfathers mentality of "mind over matter. 'They' don't know what they're talking about so pummel through it". But after one appointment with Dr. Lee my whole perspective on medicine has changed. I had ONE appointment with him to deal with my foot and in less than 10 needles I could finally step without the knife-stabbing pain in my arch that I had walked around with a limp. Completely gone. This was two years ago - and had it has not come back since. Since then, I've seen Dr. Lee several times for different issues; for ovarian cysts, menstrual issues that came with a multitude of different symptoms (hot flashes, faintness, etc), an injured back from weight lifting. Dr. Lee is amazing!! I tore my Achilles in July and went to my regular Dr with physical therapy for 6mos. and I was still having issues with my ankle hurting and problems walking. They told me that it will be that way for a long time. I decided to try acupuncture for the first time, and good thing I did! I saw Dr. Lee and with in 3-4 sessions I was a lot better. Still working on the ankle now but definitelly a lot better than the way I was going with other doctors and physical therapy. I was finally able to go back to work and do my regular duties by the 3rd session. I was also lactose intolerant, but after doing about a month or so of sessions I am doing a lot better and my tolerance is way better. It's nice to at least eat some dairy now, which I have been missing out on for the past 20yrs. Even Lactose milk had adverse reactions with me, so I am glad that I am getting better at least. In short, Dr. Lee is extremely kind and competent and his treatments have drastically improved many of my ailments. Highly recommended. I've been seeing Dr. Lee for acupuncture for about 4 months. He easily identified the misalignment of my cervical vertebrae (bike accident 7 years ago) as the cause of my chronic headaches and eyestrain. After about 4-6 treatments my headaches/eyestrain have been greatly reduced and I can stand working at the computer all day again. He also recommended simple things like self-massage of various acupressure points and performed some stretching and joint mobility/massage on me after my acupuncture sessions. Now we're working on my general over-stressed and fatigued constitution with acupuncture and herbs. He explains everything he does, including what points are for what ailments, explains how the treatments work in a systemic way, but also emphasizes proper nutrition and self-care as part of healing. He has given me extensive nutrition consultations too. Dr. Lee really seems to care about doing the best job possible. He never rushes, he answers all my questions and he takes the time to explain what he's doing and some of the theory behind it. He always makes sure I'm comfortable (heat, blanket, no needles hurting me, etc.). He's easy-going, attentive and gives practical advice to complement the treatments (nutrition, self-massage, taking computer/desk breaks at work, where to get good deals on ginger). Ask him if you don't have insurance or are on a low-budget and he may be able to work with you! Dr. lee continues to deliver top quality care to my son. He is now working on helping my son with his asthma symptoms. Already, my son is using the albuterol nebulizer less. Recently, my son also became ill due to a flu virus and since he suffers from primary immune deficiency it takes him longer to heal. During that time Dr. Lee called to check in on him and offer suggestions of acupressure points I could massage to help with fever and other symptoms. I sprained my ankle pretty badly, and the regular doctor told me to just stay off of it. I was ready to lose about 3 weeks waiting for it to heal, but fortunately, I went to see Dr. Lee the first day of the injury. He did about 5 minutes worth of acupressure, and I went from not being able to walk to walking around normally that same day. Woke up the next morning with the ankle perfectly fine. My mom referred me to Dr.Lee because she sees him in is mountain view office. I am low income and he was willing to work out an affordable and doable payment plan since I do not have insurance.
