My husband and I live in Krugerville and last summer I got solar screens at Longhorn and they took 5 weeks to get...quite a long time even during Covid.  They did okay with the 12 solar screens.  But we also elected to get two 10" sideview WOODEN window plantation shutters at our 42" front door.  Their website says they are made of wood and made in house so we ordered them.  Not only did they take 6 weeks to get because they are made in China, but they came in made of some sort of flimsy wood-like plastic material.  So flimsy that when you open them, they wobble.  Installation was the worst....when they guys came to install they mounted the magnets in my stained window panes instead of the drywall on the sides.  Their response was that it is the only way to mount them but we proved them wrong when sales and a Manager from Longhorn came back to the house to check the installation and quality of the shutters compared to our existing shutters in the study.   $1300 dollars later for both shutters and screens and I had to move the magnets, fill the holes, and restain.   Buyer beware...they no longer make these by someone locally, but quality is abysmal (not real wood) and installation was terrible.  Management did nothing to make it right except hound us and burden my wife for payment weekly even after I lost my job in October.  Currently, we barely open the shutters or the slats in the blinds because we are afraid they are so flimsy, they will break.   We should have used Lowes or Home Depot like we originally planned. read more

We just moved into our new home and it needed plantation shutters so badly! We asked a homebuilder acquaintance of ours if he had a good company to recommend and Longhorn was who he immediately recommended. The representative that came out to measure everything was wonderful and very helpful in other ways as well. They made custom shutters for us in a little less than a month, and installed them in only a couple of hours! It was so easy, from beginning to end! These screens are fantastic. We need new windows, but decided to get the screens as a band-aid until we get the new windows to help with this summer's heat. The process is simple. They send someone out to measure the windows and then a day later they send a quote. The quote is broken out by section of house, so you can pick and choose which windows to cover if you decide not to cover all the windows. The quote was surprisingly affordable compared to online searches I did. I called and told them the color and % blockage I wanted and 10 days later they were installed. As I said, we need new windows, but these screens cut the temperature in our upstairs bathroom by over 10 degrees, even in the 100+ degree weather. Our A/C usage has gone down about 10% compared to a month ago. When we get new windows, the current screens are going on immediately. I highly recommend Longhorn if you are wanting solar screens. read more

We had to solar screens installed on our patio and they're great. The screens included wifi control so we can have Alexa raise and lower the shade. Everything is great about the screens. The issue that I have is with the installation. They cut into the brick column in the patio to plumb one of the tracks. They didn't tell me that they were going to cut a channel into the bricks and they ended up breaking off about a half dozen bricks during the process. The pieces that the tech could find, he caulked back into place and the ones he couldn't find, he just left out. I tried to talk to the staff and have over 20 emails back and forth, until they stopped responding! Like I said, the screens are great. Everyone can look at the attached pictures and decide if they would accept the damage and unresponsiveness. I know that the caulk will only last so long before it gets dried out by the hot Texas summers. Who knows what it will look line in 5 or 10 years, but I guess that will be my problem. read more

This is the second time I have used Longhorn Screens and this is what all business transactions should look like. Fair price, excellent service, and quality product. The most recent interaction I had with Longhorn, I requested they come out and measure/install three window screens. I was never at the house and didn't need to be. They took care of everything without me having to be at home which was very convenient. The screens fit perfectly, look great, and match the other windows I had done last year. I live in Lantana and get tired of companies overcharging and under delivering with home projects. This is not the case with Longhorn Screens. read more

Called Monday May 7th around 3pm. Phone answered and I booked an estimate and consultation with the girl over the phone for that Friday. Advise her it was a new build/complete in Melissa and that I would be out of town. She replied that would not be an issues for measurements and estimate portion. Great, locked in done? Expected a phone call Friday stating it was done and the whereabouts the quote was left or ANY information relating to the Friday appointment. I received none. Monday - today 5/14/18, I get a call from a lady identifying herself as the scheduling coordinator and inquired if I needed an estimate? I was polite and replied ma'am I did that already for Friday of past and no one showed or called. She quickly interrupted by stating she was off Friday and had things to do with her son that could not be missed (understandable). What my issue is... She continued by stating "we have like 30 estimates right now and we're busy" continued with this comment. " with a sigh... Are you looking to purchase or just need pricing". No mention of sir, I apologize we missed your home estimate or that there was an issue - no. How you have 5 stars is beyond me with office staff that cannot book an estimate let alone follow up on it. Confirm or cancel notification. They knew I called and booked one but rather speak to me in manner as if I was window shopping or browsing? In closing, I advise her that was no longer in need of a estimate or bid do to the work. What a great company to work with! We waited way to long to reach out and get them to come do the estimate, and they ended up being 1/3 of the cost I was expecting to pay. We have a west facing patio that leads to our living room, and it was so hot in there even with great blackout curtains that we would end up sitting in the bedroom instead. I'm going with the four over the three, mainly due to the quality of the screens, the price, and the installer. Those were great. But I wasn't happy with a few parts of the process. First, the salesperson either had no formal education on solar screens or was lying just to make a sale. I'm thinking, based on what the installer said, it was the former. But to give you an idea, here are a few gems: 1) The screens give your home privacy; you won't need to install blinds or curtains because people won't be able to see in. 2) The gridwork on the screens will exactly match the gridwork on the windows. When you look in or out, you won't notice them. (The poor installer looked shocked when I said the salesperson made that promise.) 3) The screens will be installed in 6 to 10 days, but most likely 6. 4) They will fit tightly and be screwed in. It will keep bugs out better than regular screens. Common sense told me most of those wouldn't be true, but you never know. I also wasn't happy with the lack of communication. I had to check in periodically to find out what was happening and when. Needless to say, they weren't installed in 6 days, so on business day 9, I had to call and find out when the screens would arrive. I've never worked with a contractor that a) didn't call to notify the homeowner of work being done on premise and b) didn't return phone calls. Perhaps I've been lucky. But I always got, "Oh, they'll be there tomorrow. " Made me think I should have called on day 5, and tried to get an earlier "tomorrow." But, since the price was good and the install was good, and the screens are nice, I'm not unhappy. I've seen other screens...some of them sag, or aren't square. The company also got all the paperwork for the rebate written up and mailed to me quickly, so they made that part easy. And the windows did help keep the heat down. The AC didn't have to work 20/7...once we had the screens, the AC didn't kick in for an extra two to three hours each morning. The only bad things are that no, the screens don't keep bugs out perfectly...on some windows it is the same as a normal screen, but on others the fit is slightly imperfect and there are small gaps. I think it depends on the window frames you have, so you'll have to look closely yourself. I used thin bits of weatherstrip, and it's fine. Also, at night, or when it rains, your vision out is far more obscured than I thought it would be. But, for the energy savings, I'm okay with that. read more

I am beyond happy with my new solar screens. It's 107 degrees outside right now. The day before the screens were installed by Longhorn, my house was 82 degrees inside and the a/c ran constantly. The day after the screens were installed, my house was 78 inside and the a/c actually cycled off. They make the outside of my house look absolutely fabulous, too. I opted for gridwork on the windows on the front of the house and to my amazement, the gridwork matches my windows exactly. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about because when I look out my windows from the inside, they line up exactly and I even have fancy schmancy grids across the top of my windows. Well done! I told Longhorn on a Monday to go ahead with my order and I had them installed early in the day the following Monday. Jeff and Christy are both extremely helpful. The guy that installed them was friendly, fast and efficient. He even cleaned off my windows before putting the new screens on. Did I mention they look fabulous on my house? This company was frustrating to work with. The sales process and initial install was quick. We purchased gutters and new solar screens. The gutters were great - no issues. Dealing with the screens was an absolute nightmare. We have a rounded window in our living room and they still haven't gotten the screens right after 4-5 attempts. The screens appear baggy on two of our windows. This company wants to do the right thing which I respect, BUT they are very re-active and slow with resolving customer issues. They installed terrible looking screens and made the same mistake several times and I constantly had to call and tell them to fix it. The installer didn't take the initiative to recognize that the screens looked bad. I also heard a lot of excuses from this company. You should NEVER tell a customer that you can't do a good job because you are so busy with your other 20 jobs per day. I heard this from the owners sister and her husband. read more
